I haven't gotten the driver crash once since suspending my custom login screen 
. My friend has also not had the game stop responding when he attempted to zone once since suspending his.
If anyone using a custom login screen has frequent crashes I have to suggest you change the folder you have named GUI to "_GUI", this will cause the game to ignore it and everything in it, temporarily(if you want) removing your custom login screen. Play for like 30mins and see if it fixes your issue.

I used to have a pretty purple background on my Character Creation screen. Now it's all reddish. Is there a way to replace that screen, too?

I've written a small, ugly program to change the loading/login screen. I've been using it for a bit and had no issues. It can take pretty much any image type, and convert it into a .texture for CoH. http://webapps.sgspaces.net/cohstuff/click.php?id=5 If you have UAC enabled it will prompt for admin access when you run it as otherwise it wouldn't be able to write to "Program Files" (default game location). If anyone has any issues, please let me know, either here, or in PM.

Firstly, apologies to those who've sent me PMs asking for instructions. I upgraded to Win7 (x64) a few months back and was subsequently unable get new custom screens working due to software incompatiblity.
Secondly I was wondering why I kept crashing on zone transitions. Evidentally it was the custon login screen.

Edit: I've uploaded a fixed version: http://webapps.sgspaces.net/cohstuff/click.php?id=5 Anyone who has this installed right now will get a upgrade prompt, once it updates it will crash (Just this once as I typo-ed a file name in the original release) re-run it and you'll get the nifty working features

I just found this thread...I looked at all the pics done by our wonderfully talented players and, well, I would take any of them over what we have now.

Odd, I coulda swore I had that fixed... Which means this is also broken on the web version too :/ *sigh*
Edit: The Program has been updated to 0.1.9 you'll now see a Region dropdown, the program will try to guess your locale, but you can change it if it detects incorrectly.
2nd Edit: Err oops... 0.2.0 will be out soon with corrected names for the login screens :/ *sigh*
3rd Edit: 0.2.0 is out, with corrected texture names.
4th Edit: :/ wow 0.2.1 is out, with a fix to some CoH Crash issues.

Awesome to hear, I'm just sad I had to drop to DXT compression on the files... It just looks bad 32bit output was MUCH better, and worked fine before I22ish...

if you have windows head to the top of the page and click my link to the program there. click file then open pick a image then click save. if you are on osx find the link by thirty seven to my website browse pock a image then follow the instructions on the help link. currently not home so i cant give direct linka.

If it's warning you about the drivers, you'ld better update 'm.
Usually it's no biggy, but if you try and find support they will always let you update your drivers first before they help you any further.
The Not Responding is the exact issue my friend has, I'll have to have him try removing his too.
Have any of you with windows7 and the NotResponding crash tried RunAsAdmin? Maybe the custom causes the game to try to write a fileattribute that causes the lockup when it gets denied?
Luckily the new Statesman one doesn't bother me really, I just liked mine better. It's no "Praetorian minion uses his Nuke BRIGHT WHITE FLASH on Statesman" snapshot lol.
Edit: *suspended mine. Logs in. redacts part about lack of bright white flash >.<.* and worst of all I haven't gotten the driver crash once
