  1. Silverado

    Buzzsaw Build

As Werner subtly pointed it out, buzzsaw builds are obsolete nowadays
  2. Silverado

    AV soloer

In my opinion it's the fast animating immobilize, powersink and the energy resistance which is always nice to have

Conserve Power was a very recent addition to a pool that's been the prefered choice since long before. And since Sonic Blast is such an end efficient set CP might as well be irrelevant (what with having perma AM and all)
  3. A Dark/Shield Scrapper is better than a Dark/Shield Brute. But a Fire/SR Brute is better than a Fire/SR Scrapper

The more damage buffs available to a Scrapper, the closer he'll get to reach (and surpass) Brute levels of damage
  4. That could get a little cluttered, but sure!
  5. Fastest ATs at soloing AVs are Corruptors and Controllers (Fire/Rad for both)

/Traps is killer against AVs, but since re-applying the debuffs takes a sweet bit of time and interrupts your DPS then /Rad is probably better, probably.
  6. Physical Perfection sounds more like a Fitness (Swift/Hurdle/Health/Stamina all rolled in one) buff to me, kind of what the VEATs get for an inherent.
  7. It's a clone of Tanker Pyre Mastery, yeah big surprise there...
  8. You'd be better off sticking an LotG +rech in there

My photobucket accoount shows my Original Album as being created on 03/21/2008. And I remember being inspired to try AVs because a couple months prior I saw some guy on the boards named Ultimus who had soloed a bunch of AVs on his EM/Elec Brute.

Soloing AVs back then wasn't quite unheard of, and even today the "pics or it didn't happen" mentality persists. It just wasn't as widespread as it currently is on the "Archetypes and Powers" section
  10. A requirement for closed betas is not asking about closed betas
  11. Yeah, Grant Cover gives DDR (enhanceable by regular +def SO's) and is also a LotG mule =)
  12. Silverado

    Changing Origin

    After gender-swapping, anything is possible
  13. Went in solo and got a lvl 54 Black Scorpion just fine

    Try going in on heroic

Except Corruptors are not Scrappers, they don't need to *sustain* DPS as critically. And there's no such thing as getting two-shotted by a 'superior damage' ranged attack.

I don't have softcapped ranged defense on either of my Rads nor on my Corruptor, and I've killed every single AV/GM they have access to ingame. Just talking from experience here.

What I'm advising against is relying on the -ToHit from RI to reach the softcap. Because even short mezzes detoggle it, and it takes over 3 seconds to retoggle.
    An inconvenience, rarely ever lethal.

In my opinion, if the power is there and you can use it then so be it. By getting your defense to 40% and letting RI take care of the rest, you make room for other more useful set bonuses (mainly +rech and +hp). You can also stick an Achilles Heel in there for more -res sadism.

Like having both softcapped defense AND perma AM is an easy thing to do

Unlike Scrappers, softcapped defense is not a must for Corruptors, especially Sonic/Rad. With all that -res going on, EF becomes a rather significant survival tool, since its damage debuff (which would normally -22.5%) becomes boosted to somewhere closer to -40% damage, equivalent to having 40% resistance to all when fighting an even level AV.
  17. I thought this was going to be about Peter Griffin

    I was disapointed

(Then again, everyone knows he's a Chicken Brawl Scrapper)
  18. I've also seen /Fire builds softcapped to S/L, scary stuff.

They make some pretty unacceptable (by my standards) sacrifices though, such as skipping Hasten.

Damage itself is a taunt component, if you don't believe me then try damaging a critter; see what is its reaction.

I could point out some juvenile attitude on this thread, and it's definitely in none of my posts

Thanks, P-Forge! I look foward to seeing you achieve similar feats with your Corruptor

Taunting through damage, the aggro-holder (in this case the controller) is higher on the GM's hate list because he has done the most damage and must die NOW. Any single one of the fire imps hasn't done more than the GM's top threat holder, so they're ignored. If I stopped attacking (or taunting through damage) for a minute or so, the GM would immediately turn on the imps and kill them in 2 shots.

It's all within the accepted rules and logic of aggro-managing. I'm not going in with a Controller mentality, but rather with a ranged tank (and his 3 squishy damage-dealing teammates) mentality.

If you consider all this as 'poor design' and you'd rather have them just do away with the well-established concept of tanking and aggro-holding, then I suggest you switch your gaming genre and go play HALO or something.

I know my ranged soft capped troller gets eaten alive by most AVs if I close in and let them use Aoe's and cones, but I just stand way back in almost complete safety while my imps eat them up.

It is kind of silly to not have secondary target system to prevent such AI manipulation, but it is probably hard to implement.
In my experience, it works like that in pretty much every MMO I've played (Asheron's Call, Anarchy Online, World of Warcraft, etc) so I've never seen it as an 'ai hole' but more of a norm. Besides, the whole point of taunting/aggro-managing is to keep the mob's attention on the stronger target (in this case, the controller himself) while your weaker damage-dealing teammates (fire imps) do their thing. Otherwise, the concept of tanks in this game and every other game would be useless/obsolete

Thus, nobody will play Defenders or Corruptors anymore because each one is better than the other.

And why do you want a Blaster when you can have a Corruptor? Thus, everyone will stop playing Blasters as well.

Then everyone will stop playing Tankers because you have Brutes, then everyone will stop playing Brutes because you have Scrappers, then everyone will stop playing Scrappers because you have Stalkers, and everyone will stop playing Stalkers because you have Widows.

Everyone will stop playing Dominators because you have Controllers, and everyone will stop playing Controllers because you have Masterminds, and everyone will stop playing Masterminds because you have Wolf Spiders.

Everyone will stop playing Kheldians because you have Soldiers of Arachnos.

Finally, everyone will stop playing Widows because you have Wolf Spiders.

    My logic is undeniable.
    This is true.
