  1. Different tasks should get different rewards. A TF is not the same as a story arc. Why should their rewards be similar? If you normalize rewards, you'd be making the problem worse and not better.

There are folks that want to run arcs, and there's folks that want to run the ITF ten times a week. There's nothing you can do to make them change their minds. Why punish them for doing what they've chosen to do with their subscription time? They've weighed the rewards to their time spent and deemed it satisfactory enough to continue.

If you're having trouble finding teams to do what you want to do, perhaps you should alter your methods, rather than trying to alter everyone elses to fit yours.

Remember that conversation in a previous thread about going into something with your mind already made up before you see it?

So say goodbye to many people who may not be able to get into their account to add more play time to their accounts. Because some of the questions that are asked may not be able to be answered. I know I personally never kept my original CD when my account was created, nor do I remember which credit card I used, because over the past 7 years, I couldn't tell you how many new credit cards I've gotten and how many I've trashed for the new ones.

You're new security will cause a lot of account loss and it's a shame for the many who will fall accountless with this new system.
Apologies aren't designed to be a solution. And you'd be one of the first to call out the red names if they didn't say what Z did. You can't have it both ways.

Sorry you and your friends have been having problems, but it's not as hard as you're making it seem to keep track of things. I've been playing over 5 years on the same card, and I know exactly where my game CDs and keys are, and I've moved halfway across the country in that time.
  4. Did you try downloading the launcher from NCSoft's site again?
  5. The people that want to run TFs and "end game" content all the time have always been in the game. The only reason you're seeing more of it is because there is more for them to do these days. If it didn't affect your play style then, it shouldn't now.

Pretty soon the old updaters won't work, so we'll be deleting them off the desktop anyway.

This post ends the thread. Move along. Nothing more to say.
  8. Actually, you probably wouldn't have a case if you hit 'I Accept' anyway. There's no difference between it being illegible and you not reading it at all if it was. If legibility were a concern, there would be no such thing as fine print.

    Really...

It's like "How dare a company advertise their other games!!" "How dare they make a system that works for all of their games and is easier to maintain than having a separate one for each individual game!" "How dare they make one launcher so I don't have to have three separate shortcuts for the Live, Test, and Beta servers cluttering my desktop!"
  10. They made Cyclops look like a woman in that picture of the cast. He's standing like one, and he looks like he's got bewbies. Why didn't they draw him like Wolverine and Beast, standing like men normally stand?
  11. Here is the first report, with screenshots, of the new slots we'll be getting with Issue 20: Incarnates.

If you're wondering how you missed your chance, this is from the Euro Test. Our opportunity to go in and play is:

    # Thursday, March 3rd, from 8:00 PM EST / 5:00 PM PST until 10:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM PST, on the North American Beta Server

Remember, they'll also be giving away Animal Pack codes in Pocket D before the Trial testing starts, so show up early.

Lots of interesting new possibilities, and it's only a small sample of what there is. Notice all of the different components, that are completely different than what you need for Alpha Boosts.

EDIT: note the time change in bold. Apparently they've got scheduled maintenance on the Beta server, so they had to cut the time short by an hour.
  12. Waiting till it actually comes out...at the end of the month.

This is actually better than answering truthfully. The harder you can make it for identity thieves, the better. Just make sure that whatever you answer you remember, if it's not the truthful answer.

This goes for other questions like maiden names, birthplaces, etc, as well.

    Answer to second question:
    Quote:
You correctly answer some additional security questions. Verifying this information authorizes a one-time login. Once your identity is confirmed, you can add a computer to an approved list.
Once you put the laptop, the desktop, and the phone on the approved list, it shouldn't ask you anymore. If it works like the one a bank website would use, for example, it only asks you the first time, because you can tell it to recognize the computer you're using from then on.

But my personal opinion is that I20 may hinge on what other goodies are coming IMVHO not necessarily the overly drawn out Incarnate content.
If people are gonna quit the game because they're not getting a new costume set or a new power to play with, they were probably gonna quit the game soon anyway. Those things don't define an Issue. That's not opinion, that's a fact. I know there's plenty of folks that are looking forward to the bread crumbs that come along with an Issue. My point is to not get upset at the first press release when they don't mention them, and assume they're never gonna come.

Of course, that's pretty much exactly what I expected. I'm assuming that it'll probably be Issue 22 or 23 at this point before they bother to include anything I'd care about.
Not singling out just you, but your post echoes what many will say so I'll address it as a group voice:

They never give out all the information in the first press release. I'm surprised they mentioned anything about respecs or the Black Helicopters at all, since those are such minor things compared to new content. As the day comes closer, they'll be giving out more info about secondary things like costume bits, tweaks to powers, etc. As nice as some of those things might be, they're not the selling point of the Issue for the majority of the player-base.

Also, there's always gonna be an Issue that just results in a 'meh' from someone. Nothing to quit the game over, but if all you've been doing for the past couple of years is 'meh' everytime something new comes, it's time to spend your money more wisely elsewhere. No shame in that.

As a side note, I'm enjoying the sudden flow of information. Paragon and NCSoft, this is what we've been talking about when we ask for news. Thank you for making more of an effort this year.
  17. Hope you're doing well getting your edjumucation, Tom. Start bussing tables so you can scratch enough dough together to come back and see us :P

I thought the whole point of this was for lvl 50's to FINALLY have something to do end game...

    im totally eye rolling

What they've made their mind up on is the cost and effort people that refuse to run TFs have to pay to get their Incarnate slots fully filled. They set the crafting cost for a Notice of the Well very high, especially the Shard cost. Rather than lower that down or adjust the drop rates, they chose instead to add in slightly more ways to gather shards while soloing. So now the cost is not insane, it's just merely less-insane.

50's hunting shards are still doing exactly the same thing they were doing before the Incarnate system came in, if they're not running Apex or Tin Mage. The "finally have something to do" part hasn't really come yet.

Kind of. If by premise you mean a trained assassin that gets amnesia and goes after the people that "made" him. That was just a small part of the whole story in the books. They could have kept the love interest as a Canadian government official, kept her alive, and even kept in the whole reason Bourne was invented in the first place, which was flushing out The Jackal, and it would have felt "modern."

I liked the movies, but the story in the books was much better. There's no way they could keep Jason Bourne as the main focus in the next movie, since they took out every other motivation he had in the books to do what he does, and they resolved the Treadstone angle in Ultimatum.

    This.

It could be another Cimerora-sized zone that's accessible through Ouroborus. The original intent for Ouro was to be a hub to various places. I'd bet this is what they're thinking.

There's enough ships in that area that there could easily be enough for a TF just in that spot, plus some repeatables and maybe a contact per side.

The idea of this flotilla intrigues me, and I wish to subscribe to its newsletter.
  22. Not really. They drop randomly. Try street sweeping if paper missions don't work. I've gotten two tips from two consecutive defeats on the streets before, and then you could go an hour before the next one. Some say looking for more bosses helps, but I personally haven't noticed much of a difference in frequency of drops.

Thanks for all of your hard work helping to make Champion what it is today. Hopefully you'll be back sooner rather than later.
  24. I motion that we institute new phrases:

    Hardcore-Casual

    Casual-Hardcore

Hardcore-Casuals just play whatever whenever they can, and they broadcast their disdain for min/maxers, ebil marketeers, farmers, speed TF runners, AE babies, and forum celebrities. They blame these groups for nerfs, high level content, crappy RNG results, and zone lag. Some like being called Casual Players because they can hold themselves above those that "have no life outside the game." They also insist that some content can't be done with the limited time each day they have to play, ignoring the fact that many people plan ahead to do certain things that they just can't pop in and do. Some also play at odd hours of the day, due to work schedules or time zone, and spend their forum posting time lamenting about dead servers and requesting mergers. When new content is introduced, H-Cs complain about no one wanting to do the old content.

Casual-Hardcores play whatever whenever they can, but they know the ins and outs of all their powersets, they figure out how to spend just minutes a day making millions of inf in the market, they know how to throw together Pug TFs and still do speed runs, they might use AE or other forms of PLing to bypass the low levels and get characters to the "fun levels," and they read the forums and other sites to find out ways to maximize their limited time in game. They sometimes blame the Hardcore-Casuals for the general "dumbing down" of the game. Casual-Hardcores have played more in the past than they do now. Some have taken breaks from the game as they grew tired of playing the same content, waiting for new Issues, and spend money just to be able to post in the forums. When new content is introduced, C-H's run through it with all of their alts very quickly, if it is something they've been waiting for, and then spend time taking advantage of any changes in market behavior and reconnecting with old players that have come back.

Both groups are more similar than they want to think they are, and fight for distinction whenever Red Names enter conversations about future development ideas. They both also think, with some exceptions, of course, that the other side gets more attention than they do.

From what I gather, they're currently empty enough to where that shouldn't happen.
If there were PvE content in the PvP zones, they wouldn't be empty for long. Those that enjoy going after people trying to play through an arc would flock to the zones.
