I decided to splurge for this one. Yes it's going to cost me a weeks pay but how often do any of us get to stay in a 2000 sq' Suite?
I'll be at the Mandarin Oriental in the Taipan Suite.

Quote:The BART system will drop you off about a 10 minute walk from the event, @ the Market St. and Main St. location.I haven't completely made up my mind on this, but wanted to go ahead and post my current thoughts on how my plans for the weekend will go if I attend.
Take off from work on Friday, fly out from Houston to San Francisco. Check into a really cheap hotel for 2 nights. Use BART, cable cars and (if absolutely necessary) taxis for transportation. Of course, once in the area of Elephant & Castle I'll be on foot as walking while sight-seeing isn't a problem. Fly back to Houston late Sunday morning or early Sunday afternoon. Drive back home from Houston.
Friday afternoon, Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and possibly Sunday morning I'll be looking for low-cost entertainment, sight-seeing and meals. I'll most likely be at whatever Justice get-together that Red Gren comes up with. Oh, and for you non-Justice players (shame on you) feel free to join us. We don't exclude people from other servers. If I can arrange it, I'd like to be able to get together with Chris, Jill and Liz at some point over the weekend, just to get to say hi and see old friends. -
Hilton: double bed starting at $215 (about a 3 min walk)
Club Quarters: single bed starting at $159, King and sofa bed starting at $219
Hotel North Beach: single $55, two twin beds $80 (about a 5 min walk, I don't trust this one for some reason.... wonder if they have an hourly rate...)
Mandarin Oriental: Penthouse Suite with 2000 sq' for CA residents starting at $950 (5 minute walk/ 15 minute crawl)
hmmmm, wonder which one I'm gonna get...? After Party in my room? -
Well, I haven't missed one of these yet so no reason to change this year...
Now, where to stay..... -
I run real close to max. Keep in mind that my mobo/ram/cpu are a little older (ddr2). Also I could use an upgrade in the hdd department. Other than that, as long as I keep Occlusion one notch below max and FSAA at 8x I do pretty good.
*edit: I should note that last night I was running around Striga getting anywhere between 25-55 fps with these settings.
*edit2: In response to Zombie man's post: Gaming Monitor: 23" LED running at 1920x1058 (1080 but using windowed mode thanks to Win7 and Aero on 2 monitor setup....)

They work fine for me, actually seems like I got a few extra fps with these ones.
EVGA Precision tool? Try leaving it off till you are done changing settings.
*edited for missing letters....... I don't know who stole em, but I blame Hyperstrike! -

-
I'm getting the same results with the jagged edge but on a GTX480. Even with FSAA maxed at 32x it's still the same only rounded off edges....
-
Here's all the stuff anyway: (with this rig I usually get around 35-40fps outside and 50+ inside, Hami raids I drop to around 15 or so but never slide show anymore
)

I have the EVGA 480GTX SC running with a Phenom II X4 3.0GHz and 5G ram.
The optimal settings for performance and shiny are mostly maxed out. FSAA at 8x, Shadow Quality at High and Occlusion strength at Strong. If I go above any of those settings it has a major hit on fps.
The fan is louder then heck and it does run very hot (~97C) under max load. But it never gives up
Keep in mind, if you get an EVGA you cant run the evga precision tool and change settings in game at the same time, it will lock up the game.
Yes it is pricey, hot, loud and a behemoth in my case but I don't regret it at all.
*running 2 monitors both 1920 x 1080 but running game in windowed mode: Win7 Aero stuff
*Gaming monitor: Samsung 24" LED, game looks awesome! -
I can't take all the credit. I was working with tech support for a week before we found this problem.
-
Quote:Actually... yes and yes. I just run the tool to monitor things, not to overclock or anything, but that's... interesting (and/or disturbing).
I didn't have a chance to play with anything last night (2 kids will do that to ya!), but I hope to fiddle around tonight. Perhaps I'll try shutting off the evga tool.
That's the only solution for now that works. You can turn it back on after you adjust the settings. Just keep in mind that when you exit the game with the tool on, the game will stop responding and you have to force close it. -
I know that I'm gonna sound like a broken record here, but does that happen to be an EVGA card, and are you running the evga precision tool while you are adjusting the coh settings?
The precision tool and coh's settings adjustment do not play well together. -
Do you happen to have the EVGA Precision tool running while playing/adjusting settings? That and CoH do not play well together.
-
The 480's are about 2" longer than the 200 series cards. They did move the power pins from the rear of the card to the side so there is just enough room....if you have a huge case....
-
Are you running the EVGA Precision tool?
If so, that is the problem. I had the exact same issue with my 480GTX and closing the tool fixes the problem.
I guess, ideally, turn off the precision tool, adjust your settings in game then you can turn it back on. It seems to only affect the game while you're changing settings. -
I had this same problem. Set the game to windowed mode and your golden.
Not sure if there is a "real" fix for it, but I tried this and it worked so I stopped looking for other solutions. -
Got meh Nucular WMD ready for the confronamatation with the big Cadbury Egg looking thingy!!

..... And Vorac (hero and villain) Always keeping the Rezzer's busy!! .....

I miss the feeling I used to get when I would log into Atlas Park, the theme would be playing and I was still new to the game. I would get chills every time. Not so much anymore, just done it too many times...
I remember the first "old" Hami raid that I went to. On my lvl 45 emp. All the "big" names were there. I felt a little star-struck...
I guess, in the end, that I just miss the New feeling that I used to get. The excitement of doing a TF or seeing the Shadow Shard for the first time. The first friends that I made on the game (who are no longer playing) or the first SG that I joined and the tight friendship that came of it. I just want those feelings back...
I don't mind the changes to the game, whether good or bad, evolution is always a constant. I just miss the feelings for the game that I used to have. -
So, after a 9 month hiatus from this, I just updated all the stories since last May. I'm pretty sure I got everything.......
Grey, I just updated all the links to your stories (you got way too many...) unless you want to send me text formats of all your stuff, copy and pasting each post is a PITA and I'm a lazy basterd...
