    Hamidon Raids

Hey everybody... I think it's about damn time. As a representative of the recently formed EERC (plug, plug) I'm proud to announce...

I'LL LEAD THE RAID. With able assistance from Lady Arete, if you're free of course.

Time? ...FRIDAY 25th FEB, 8PM GMT ON DEFIANT.

I aim to run a blueside raid first of all - if all goes well I'll plan to do a redside one the following week/fortnight. I hear the cries for a Sunday but unfortunately won't be able to make Sunday this time around, so hey ho.

Arete's plan sounds good - we'll have teams arranged roughly into ATs, I also hope to use the trick of Dark Miasma toons rezzing people en-masse using Howling Twilight, with the help of a handy Trick Arrow Oil Slick nearby.

I'll be running impromptu EoE runs over the next couple of nights, but won't be able to plan what time these will be, so if you're interested do please put the word out and go bash up those Giant Monsters!

Lastly - if you want in and can make it, please reply here, or send me a tell in-game to @Super Ready on Defiant. I'll make a post with team compositions once names start coming in.

Let's rock Hami's amoebic socks off!

    Super Ready,

Thanks for teaching me its okay(and fun!) to floor dive, and for getting me back into the game.

    Love,

    Mystel (Defiant)

    Dear Mystel...

    5th Column are red,
    The Council are grey,
    Your post in this thread,
    Sure brightened my day.

    Arachnos are wicked,
    Freedom Phalanx grand,
    For you I'd faceplant,
At but a wave of your hand.

    The Redcaps are tiny,
    Malta Titans great,
    At your mere command,
    I'll charge +4 x8.

    Just as Nemesis plots
    Are far-reaching and bold,
    On this Valentine's Day,
    It's my heart you hold!
  3. Hey hey everybody latest EERC member, general madcap nutjob scrapper and 4-year Defianteer @Super Ready here. I'm looking forward to events both new and shamelessly ripped... ER. I mean, nostalgically re-enacted!
  4. As far as the first two tiers work - the common bonus needs to be unlocked in order to craft the uncommon bonus. So your example of crafting the common Musculature then upgrading to an uncommon Spiritual isn't possible, you'd need the common Spiritual instead.

However, as mentioned you can craft multiple bonuses - even from different pools - and swap between them on the fly. This can be done wherever you are - but is subject to not only the 5-minute cooldown mentioned, but also a much smaller cooldown of a few seconds from being in combat or firing your last power.

Lastly, bear in mind that when you create the uncommon bonus, it uses the common bonus to do so. So if, for instance, you craft the Core Spiritual bonus and then want the Radial Spiritual bonus as well, you'll need to recreate the common bonus to do so.
  5. Won't the answer vary depending on what accolades the toon has?

For instance, say the toon has the extra endurance from Portal Jockey and Atlas Medallion. They'll get more benefit from Stamina itself AND the IO's put in it than a toon without, but regardless of maximum Endurance the proc's benefit remains static.

Of course, the difference between the two might be enough that this doesn't matter. I don't have my numbers head screwed on today.
  6. Count me in! Just put my Santa cossie together
  7. Nothing this side - I can get into the page with no such errors. I'm running Firefox too - you may want to check your settings under Tools - Options.

Under the Security tab, I have the top 3 tickboxes ticked, but not the Warning messages at the bottom. Might also want to look at the Certificates in Advanced tab.

(edit) I've just added those warnings back in, and no change - I still get no errors.
  8. Can't say for certain with those particular powers - but I've always noticed criticals on damage-over-time attacks to double the full amount, and not just the first "tick". DM's Midnight Grasp and half the attacks in Fire are good examples.
  9. Taking hover COMPLETELY transformed my Energy blaster. Simply hover above whatever you're fighting, and hey presto, they get knocked "back"... into the floor. It's also handy mitigation since you can usually stay out of melee range.

If you can afford the spare slots, you'll want to put in some Endurance Reduction and/or some Flight Speed enhancements to make it a bit easier keeping it on in missions.

    ambitious badge

Just wanted to touch on an earlier point - I've got to the Ace badge with CJ alone. Ego-stroking aside it's a fantastically fun pursuit I can highly recommend.
  11. I'm running with a Geforce 275GTX, *fairly* recent drivers (about 2 months? can't check from where I am), and I can only see the portals in IP and Pocket D when I'm right next to them. Melee range, you might say.

I'm also not the only one as others on teams have mentioned it. I'm no dev... but if I had to guess I'd say it's something to do with the surface they sit on... the IP portal is of course on a hill, and Pocket D has that whole transparent floor thing going on. I can't think of any other unusual non-flat portal locations.
  12. Also worth noting - Recluse won't summon anything if he hasn't been damaged. So Confront is actually useful to have here, for once.

Did this when we ran it on Defiant, I was on a capped SR scrapper but also popped purples to keep defence above 75% - this counters his tohit buff and keeps you at the cap until the tower's down. I also had enough native run speed to keep him chasing after me, using the pillars down the bottom to block line of sight and greatly reduce the number of attacks he could make.

That said, I did still go down a couple of times... which is why one of the Shields was on backup doing the same thing.

    Golden Skin

Surely you could just roll up a new Praetorian and straightaway go to the options menu, and check out the colour values there and make a note of them?

I'd do it myself and post the numbers, but my own PC's off-limits right now, hence me even being here...
  14. Hi all... I'm usually the first to say "nope, no problems here" whenever anyone moans about lag (I play on Defiant on the Europe servers, lag's pretty rare there). However, over the last couple of days I've noticed a mysterious lag issue affecting not only the game, but all other internet connectivity as well.

I'm running Windows 7 on an Intel i5, Geforce GTX275 with 4GB of DDR3 memory, and I know from previous experience that my connection is more than enough to handle CoX, multiple Firefox windows and MSN open at once. But in the last couple of days having CoX open causes MSN to randomly disconnect, and browser windows to stop responding (even Google takes a good 2 or 3 minutes to load).

In the game itself? I notice sporadic lag with other players dashing about, some chat lag now and again, but it's most obvious whenever I activate powers, the timing is all over the place. Meanwhile the netgraph shows regular red and yellow spikes whereas before it was pretty much permanently green.

Anyone have any ideas, or experiencing the same thing? I'm hoping it's just GR busy-ness and it'll all die down, but it sucks not being able to enjoy the "new stuff!!" rush at the same time as everyone else.
  15. I know it's not the same as having a proper option - which I would heartily approve - but you can get a decent "body tattoo" effect on females by using the Metal secondary option on skin. I can get a pretty decent likeness to Mass Effect 2's Jack doing this, I'll see if I can put up a pic later.

    (added) this is she!

Bawwwww, CHEATSES. That does it - you've inspired me to do this myself, and use ONLY pool powers. No temps, no vets, not even inherents - that's right, no [Brawl]...! Guess I'll have to owe someone a favour for that level 6...

Curiosity's getting the better of me. I can see how you could sloooooowly get by with Jump Kick, Air Superiority, and Flurry - but how did you get from 1 to 6? Were you teamed...?

  19. I'm with Kitsune on this one. I've worked on a few different tech support desks over the last 3 and a half years, and most of the time the call-centre staff themselves are helpful - but get screwed over by company-wide decisions. The call-centre itself being outsourced is a common one - the poor guys over in India, the Phillippines or wherever else are not only pulling night shifts to cover the phones in US daytime hours, but they're doing so with limited information - the same cost-cutting that put the call-centre abroad also means that call-centre is more often than not out of the loop with known problems.

Meanwhile, the fat cats back in the boardroom are sitting there sipping their Pina Coladas patting themselves on the back for doing such a good job cutting budget this year.

    ...anyway. I digress.

I know the issue's fixed now - but after one or two evenings of trying to fix this myself, I would have got in touch with someone who wouldn't mind me borrowing a PC to test it out with - a second PC I could install CoH to try and use on the same connection. If that fails too, it's almost guaranteed your own PC is not at fault, and can be used as weight in any conversation with the ISP.
  20. There's only one point I can think of that I don't think's been raised yet - if you defeat a player with higher rep than you, you get more rep out of it yourself.

I'm not certain on the exact numbers, but I think the other player has to be at least 20 rep above you, and you get 5 rep out of it. So in this vein, it would be quicker to get one toon to 400 rep then the next, rather than taking it in turns.

Oh, yeah, I'm WELL aware that the line basically means, we can do what we like with the info. I'm not suggesting for a second that any MMO company is completely foolproof from ever considering being unscrupulous with the data, either. My point was that this isn't just a Blizzard thing - the OP singled them out as having this inflammatory line in an EULA... while posting on the boards of a game they play, which has a very similar line in its own.
  23. Well, there is a Technical board under Development that would be the usual place, found here - http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=578 - I'd suggest looking through there, there are a number of similar threads and also one from the devs themselves with suggestions.

I can see why you posted here though, so no harm done. My two cents? Wait until GR hits before making a decision. We have no idea how much more stressful on the system the new zones and updates will be. Imagine if you upgraded to a 5770 now, a month passes, and you then find out you should've gone even higher...?

Hmmm. You are aware that most of this (possibly not the IP addresses and personal information, but certainly chat text and voice communications where they exist) will be in the EULA of just about any MMO you could care to name...? Seeing this bit of text doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
  25. Ooooh, I heard a good one over Teamspeak actually - not really accidental, but certainly funny. A guy from the SG I used to be in was openly talking to his wife, and taking the piddle saying she couldn't hurt him from where he was. Now, the wife could of course hear this guy, but not us.

"How come she can't hurt you?" we asked.
"'Cos she's sat on the sofa, and she's lazy. And, er... well."
    "...?"

    ...we probed a bit further.
"You mean, a bit on the big side?"
    "Yeah, she's fat."
    *THWACK*
    "OW!"

It transpired, she'd thrown a shoe and clocked him squarely in the back of the head.
