  1. Do the "protect the item" mission objectives fit your query?

    Jack Emmert?

Between the Global Defense Reduction and ED was the Controller Pets reduction. During which Archetype Inherents were introduced as a compromise.
  3. Level 25 common/generic IOs are equivalent to a -1 (yellow) SO. So if that's ok with you performancewise, you can keep them and not have to replace them ever which is a significant savings during the rest of your character's career. I'd suggest making the effort to at least memorize the level 25s and 30s set of common IOs. (See info here.) Once you have them memorized, you can make more for your future slotting needs without having to have a recipe in hand, which in turn is another significant savings. Plus you can make extras to sell to cover your expenses while you were memorizing and just to make an extra buck.

As for using Sets, depending on how you slot them, you can gain an extra attribute boost without having to have an extra slot. If you don't care to build for Set Bonuses, you can mix and match different pieces from different Sets to maximize attribute boosts (commonly called "frankenslotting" here). If you do go for Set Bonuses, you can gain extra character-wide attribute boosts that aren't usually available to your character. For example: +Def/+Resist for characters with no armors and Stoners like the +Run and +Movement. Stacking up Set Bonuses +Acc and +Recharge is also a popular avenue to pursue.

When to build for Set Bonuses depends on whether you exemplar a lot. Most Set Bonuses follow the usual exemplaring rules based on the level of the Set IO. If you're frankenslotting and don't care about Set Bonuses, then you can just use the best Set IO piece you can lay your hands on.
  4. Sure, you can continue to play the current character, just no XP for the duration, or make a new character to try out. Most players have several dozens of characters.
  5. The Steel Canyon flaming buildings can one-shot you when they explode.

On your Powers tray's header bar, click the "Powers" link.
On your Powers window's header bar, click link "Combat Attributes" link.

The Combat Attributes window shows all your characters stats in real time. Since this window is rather large for normal play, you can select up to 10 stats to monitor in a mini-window. Right click a stat that you're interested in, then "Monitor" to add to the mini-Combat Attibutes window (see it on the right side of my UI screenshot).

In your case, choose "ToHit Bonus" and "Last Hit Chance". Default stat is in white. If you get debuffed, the stat number will go red. If you get a buff (from a team mate or Set IO Bonus), the stat number will be green. If you max out a stat, it'll be blue.

Pro Tip #1: if you get heavily debuffed, run away.
Pro Tip #2: if you get heavily buffed, charge in and go bezerk.
  7. It was slow to respond for me. First attempt got to #2 before I closed it and re-launched. Second attempt got me in, after a longish pause during which I came to the forums and saw this post. I'm in the game right now.
  8. Just an FYI, long inactive SGs and Bases sometimes encounter the bug where either you can't enter the Base or the Base has no power even though Rent is paid or the SG Registrar claims it's already paid up. You'll need to send a Petition in for a GM to fix the problem.

Could you walk us through the steps to mail from one character on my account to another character on my account?

For instance, say that I send an item from one of my characters to another character that could use the IO.

Does the attachment immediately show up in the sending character's mailbox, because I'm sending it to my global name?

If I log onto yet another character instead of immediately logging into the recieving character, does that mean that this third charcter will get the item instead of the character I intended to send it to?

Does global in-game e-mail have a different e-mail box than e-mail directed to a specific character?
    1. Logon RichHero
    2. Send Awesomething to @Starchild
    3. Note that you have new mail with Awesomething attached
    4. Log off RichHero.
    5. Log on PoorVillain.
    6. Note you have Email with Awesomething attached.
    7. Try to claim it greedy villain, go on I dare you.
    8. No you cannot have item! You are villain!
    9. Log on PoorHero.
    10. Note you have Email with Awesomething attached.
    11. Claim Awesomething.

I'm not going to go through all 30 characters.
So what happens if the boob (the hypothetical "boob") forgets or typos his global name and sends his much coveted PvP IO that he just spent 3 billion Inf on to someone else? Will there be a means to cancel or recall the email if the recipient (who hypothetically, unfortunately happens to exist) hasn't opened the email and/or claimed the attachment yet? If not, how will NCSoft Customer Support deal with the boob's desperate petitions?
  10. What's the deal with the IE8 browser and these forums? Everytime I go into a thread which includes an imbedded, moderate sized image, the forums lags like my system memory is almost maxed out. As I continue to surf the forums, IE8 slowly renders every layer of the forums page. If I close the broswer window, this slowness clears up. At least until I hit another thread with an image.

Note: the signature and avatar images don't seem to be a problem.

This problem happens at both my home and work computers. The problem definitely seems to be this forum and the IE8 browser only because other websites and non-browser apps still work fine. Is there an IE8 setting that I need to do to flush buffers automatically or something?

    but no pre-made IO enhancements
Are you talking about the common/generic IOs? They're listed under the subcategory of "Other".

Note: common IO recipes are also under the big list of costume recipes that's also included in the "Other" subcategory.
  12. I think most global channels are set to default to Silenced mode for new members to stop the RMT spammers who were being a nuisance back in the day.

    help plz

Are you in the US/Euro? I remember reading that the NCSoft store doesn't sell to certain non-US/Euro regions.
  15. Well, there are a lot of enemies already doing hit and run: Swarms, Scrapyarders, Spectrals, Wolves, etc.
  16. The player population dropped noticibly (to me) when Champions and then Aion came out. This past week or so also includes a lot of players going to the Test Server to beta Issue-17 with the new powersets.

    Edit: links

    Dual Pistols Closed Beta

Ultra Mode, Issue 17: Dark Mirror and Going Rogue!
  17. Are Server Transfers still free? If so, you could put the Inf on a temp character and Transfer it to save a Market fee.
  18. As Schismatrix said, the trick to dealing the Vahz it to understand that the humans are the priority targets. Without the Reapers and Morticians, the Abmoninations are stupid and near sighted. In particular, take out the Morticians at once. They can resurrect defeated Abmoninations. The Reapers shoot a crossbow dart that applies a slow debuff on you. Most of the time, a group of Abmoninations by themselves won't even notice you jogging right by them. Just don't stand still in front of them.

Another thing to consider, you can lower your difficulty setting. Open your mini-map (m) and look for a Hero Corps Analyst (expand the map window and zoom in if you need to). You can set the enemies in missions to -1 combat level relative to you until you level up a few times and get some more attacks and armors. Note, if you already have a mission active (ie you've gone into it already), you may need to reset the mission. You can reset the mission by choosing a different mission and clicking yes when the pop up asks if you want to abandon the current mission, then re-select the previous mission.
  19. Don't try to do it all in one sitting. Work on upgrading 1 or 2 related powers at a time. You can get by with Single Origin enhancements just fine in the mean time.

Since this is your first serious foray into using Invention Origin enhancements, I would suggest that you do not try to buy the "best" stuff. They'll cost a lot if you make a mistake, like buying and crafting something only to discover that you can't slot it because you misinterpreted its description (everyone has done that at some point). Instead, just get what is readily available at the Wentworths/Black Market at a reasonable cost.

After you've done your first IO build, play with it a while. Read up on IOs some more. Eventually, you'll get a better idea of more efficient mix and match configurations you can use to min/max your cost/benefit ratio or if you can stack enough Set Bonuses to fill a hole in your attributes. Use this time to build up your Influence/Infamy and perhaps lay down low ball bids to fish for some new IOs you're eying.

    Isolater Badge

It's a kill quota of 100. You're not seeing any progress?

You can also do it in Ouroborus intro arc.
  21. Did you clear/reveal the whole mission map (on your mini-map)? Any dark spots could be hiding a straggler.

What Server are you on? If necessary, I can come an take a look.

Or you can ask on Broadcast for someone to help you out.
  22. "Out-in-the-zone" hunt missions usually specify a specific quantity to defeat, not an "all in area" phrase.
