I got it earlier with another hero, and I was able to see the progress. With the second hero, I didn't see any progress, and I was looking under the defeat all badge portion, and it doesn't show the defeat 100 contaminated.
IIRC, you have to defeat a minimum of 20 before the counter will show up.
You can always come back to it by doing the Intro To Ouroborus arc. The mission from Mender Tesseract (2nd one, IIRC) sends you back to Outbreak, and it's full of Contaminated. And you have to defeat at least 25 to finish the mission, so 4 runs will get the badge, though there are soooo many you shouldn't need 4 runs...

You have the opportunity of getting the badge once you've hit Lv25 - one mission the Ouroboros introduction arc sends you back to Outbreak, where you can fight off enough Infected to earn the badge. You can also flashback that same arc, so the badge opportunity never really expires.

The Infected and Contaminated are similar, yes... and the Infected can sometimes be found in areas of Atlas and Galaxy as well, but the Infected do not count toward this badge.
As mentioned above, the best/easiest place to get this is from the Ouro mission. That same arc is also commonly used to get the Shivan's defeat badge as well.
Additionally, there is a single Contaminated spawn in RV that does count toward this badge, but Villains are blocked from earning it. It's currently unknown what effect GR may have on this.

Can you only get this once per log in? I am in the tutorial, finished the mish, now want to hunt for the badge, but it's not coming up.
