  1. Are you talking about going on a massive buying spree at buy-it-now prices to build up inventory for your eventual return? Or do you intend to set up lowball fishing bids in hopes of coming back a full net? Remember, inactive accounts have the issue of all your Market slots being cleared out after 60 days.
    • You got a team invitation practically as soon as you zoned into Perez Park.
    • It was not uncommon to have multiple team wipes trying to get to a mission door in the middle of the maze at Perez Park. And if you had to go to the Hospital, you probably wouldn't be able to rejoin your team because the maze had respawned between you and them.
    • High level players would offer millions of Inf to anyone who could help them find their way to their mission in the maze at Perez Park. Their pleads on broadcast were pitiful.
    • If you gave an unneeded SO to someone, they were so grateful, they would have kissed you through the Internet if it was possible.
    • You'd find moderately high level players still going back to Atlas Park to buy TOs because they didn't know there were other stores at the higher zones.
    • There would be players who only made Mutant Origin characters because the Mutant DO store at Steel Canyon was the first store they came across and could remember to find again.
  2. I personally slot at least 2 SO-equivalent worth of accuracy. I'm using Set IOs mostly these days, so I try to get +60-70% from the basic attribute boost from the Set IO pieces themselves and then another 30+% from set bonuses.

As Rodion suggests, Crushing Impact (melee) and Thunderstrikes (ranged) will get you those extra accuracy set bonuses. Whether you're a meleer or ranged archetype, you should have at least 3 powers where you can stick those into. Probably a 4th once you get into your Epic pool. Positron's Blast (TAOE) and Scirocco's (PBAOE) also has accuracy bonuses and you'll have at least one of these powers. As a plus, all of these also have other nice set bonuses in addition to the accuracy bit, so you're not sacrificing anything to use them.

Note, these can be pricey as they are in demand. If you want to use them, place your bids early in your character's development and hopefully, you'll be able to pick up what you want fairly cheaply.
  3. Christmas is a quite a few months away. I wouldn't make any decisions until it was closer as specs along with prices will change.
  4. One of my Bases persistantly has this problem. I always wait until the power gets shut down before I pay my Rent because I'm a cheapskate. Anyway, the Power Generator is stuck powered down. I just sell it and buy another one, and I'm good to go.

I've tried alternatingly buying a Tech or Arcane Power Generator, but I find that it didn't have any effect the next time I have to pay Rent. I've also tried selling off the Power Room and buying a new one, but again, the trouble persists.
  5. You just started. Don't you want to play some of the rest of the game first?

  7. I hardly ever drink tea now, but in the past the way I prepare my tea is:

    1) make lemonade
    2) stick a teabag in it

This is typically made with boiling or very hot water as I'd usually be sick with a cold or something.
  8. The only times I've seen anyone in the Council Prison Room is if a patrol wandered into it and stopped to mill around.
  9. I had plans to take a few Heroes into villain-side, just because I'm comfortable with their archetypes and playstyle. However, after hearing about being auto-kicked from the SG upon switching, well, I'm rethinking it now. Some of these characters have a significant Prestige count and I rather not wipe their "scores". I didn't want to incure additional Set IO expenses, but I may have to make up clones.
  10. During the first couple of years, I was doing defeat alls on all of my missions. There was no specific purpose for it other than that everything was still new and I didn't want to "miss anything". Between that and occasionally getting stuck with the old can't find the last guy problems, I gradually became familiar with all the rooms. I started skipping a few nooks and cranny rooms because they always seemed to be empty and I was playing faster.

It was probably around the third year that I realized that I subconsciously knew when to slow up and take a peeks around corners because I've blundered right into groups before. Then I realized that certain rooms and corridors spawned groups at different positions depending on whether I was on a large team or solo. Then when Part_Troll did his idiot PUGs ASCII map layouts, he gave a name to certain rooms that I already recognized for what they are, but didn't really think seriously about: trap rooms.

I had transcended to being an "old timer" where nothing much could surprise me on an ordinary mission map. Initially, I tried to warn team mates about what was coming up, but no one listens. Now, I just hang back until they round the corner right into a kill squad and smirk.
  11. I've done it a couple of times when the new interface was launched. It happened quite a few times during the old interface though, so I guess I'm getting better at paying attention. Fortunately, I didn't lose much.
  12. I've participated in four All-Defenders STFs and they have been, by far, the least troublesome STF runs I've been in. About the only preference during recruitment (I didn't lead them) were to try to get at least a couple of shield buffers (FF, Sonic, Thermal and/or Cold). The basic tactic in every AV encounter was for everyone to pile on the debuffs, then proceed with the beat down. Buffs were kept up as they recharged, of course.

This same method was used for the 4 Patron AVs too. Total aggro, pick one to beat on, then repeat. No one was designated to tank and it was up to you if you wanted to enter into melee. Even with Lord Recluse, just apply your debuffs and ignore him! It blew my mind the first time, but it works. Recluse just ran around like a little kid trying to get your attention. Yeah, you might get one-shotted now and then while pounding on the Towers, but someone will rez you and you'll back in action almost immediately. I don't recall if there were ever any full team wipes.

Don't forget to go into Menu-->Options-->Reticle and set "Player Ratings = Show Always", so you can see their stars without having to mouse over the guy.
  14. Suddenly realizing that me and 1-2 other guys on the full team seem to be doing all the fighting while the Team chat is zipping along about some movie or the chat window is silent while custom AFK bubbles are constantly popping up above the slackers' heads, who coincidentally, all belong to the same SG.

How long have you been playing and how much Influence/Infamy do you have available? Most enhancements are generic, boosting one attribute at a time. When you say "combinations", this implies using named Set IO (invention origin) and Hami-Os type enhancements. Both of which can be very pricey if you don't have your own stock already. These can boost 2-4 attributes simultaneously in only one enhancement piece.

There are a couple of ways to use Set IOs: mixing and matching to get "best" attribute boost numbers (forum slang: "frankenslotting") or assembling enough pieces on the same Set to get the Set Bonuses. Frankenslotting can be achieved relatively cheaply. As for Set Bonuses, most of the desirable ones are on very expensive Sets.

So, you'll need to specify how much you can afford before people start suggesting no limits, multi-billion Inf, fantasy builds.
  16. I have had a few bad experiences where I've joined teams and it turned out that I was one of 2-3 fillers in an essentially SG team. There was a period where I viewed 2 particular SGs on Infinity with distain. I don't know if I was just unfortunate to keep meeting up with the same rude guys on their alts during that time or if it was more indicative of their membership because word on the grapevine was that they're generally held in high regard. This was back before Player Notes or an easy way to get their Global names.

I haven't seen much of either SGs recently, though, so I guess they've moved on.

As for me, I'm in my own solo SGs.

The ability to put bids on stacks of enhancements and inspirations is about the only good thing that came from the new Market user interface. It's a tremendous increase in Market slot efficiency.

Good point. Caesar, the title and the salad, I'm familiar with them as see-zer. However, Caesar as a person's name, of which I've encountered a few, I've always heard them to be pronounced as say-zer.
