  1. That's been around for quite some time - since I started playing at least.

After the patch is applied, they start the servers back up and lock all the players out, only allowing employee accounts on so that they can do a stability test. During that time, anyone who's NOT an employee gets that message, until they unlock the servers for everyone.
  2. I haven't tested this with other categories, but my Male character with Baggy Warrior pants keeps getting switched to Classic Steampunk whenever I go to a tailor. I think I saw something else where a part got swapped, but I can't remember which one. Manually resetting the swapped costume part removes the fee for changing it, so it's not like having a legacy part replaced with a new version.
  3. No ranged attack available to Banes (gun or mace) has the potential to crit.

There are mace blasts in Mace Mastery that are very similar to the ones in your Bane Primary, but they do more damage. On my Bane, I skipped most of the Primary Blasts, and took Epic ones instead.
  4. From the Paragon Points Clarification thread:

    Quote:
400........$5.00......................Complete Magic Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)
I assume that's only one "set", not all the costume pieces. Since there was one set for males, and one for females, it would presumably be $10 for all the costume parts. I'm unsure, but I'm hoping that it will still be possible to buy the full booster packs for 800 points, or the equivalent of $10.
  5. Well, since they just recently changed the names of a bunch of accounts, yes it IS possible. But it's not made available to users.

If you open a support ticket through the Support Site, you MAY be able to get it changed. I don't honestly expect them to, but it never hurts to ask.

The way I read it, it sounded like it popped out ALL the enhancements from a single power. But either is a possibility.
  7. From what's been said, you'll still be able to get all the Vet Rewards you haven't gotten yet, and you may even be able to get them earlier than you would have under the old system. Exact details have not been released yet.
  8. Also from that link:

Similar terms in Germanic languages such as English words Puca or pucel, Pook or Puck
Puck is a comic book character. If someone used that name with a costume that ripped off Puck, the whole thing may have been genericed.
  9. No. Lightning Field wouldn't proc for the user because the user isn't the target.

It's a minor distinction, but relevant for things like Electric Blast, Power Sink, and so on, where the power both drains the target and refills the user. In all of those cases, the Performance Shifter proc will only give the +End to the enemy (the target of the power), and never to you (because you're not the target).
  10. Even 2E+10 would be wrong, as that would be 20 billion.

If you're talking about the game I think you are, that shift changed the game from hemorrhaging vast sums of money to a papercut of lost money. Think about what a similar change could do to a game that's actually turning a profit before the change.

You'll be able to buy individual parts from the boosters, whole costumes from boosters, or even the boosters as a whole via Paragon Points. Any costume parts you buy will be account based, not per character.

  15. My point was that you can only transfer 2 billion at a time, not the multiple billions that the OP suggested, and that the copy process can be VERY slow. And the 88's burned hundreds, if not thousands of billions of Inf. If the cap were 2 billion Prestige, as I've seen hypothesized, it would take 1 trillion Inf, or 500 capped characters being transferred. If it takes more than 2 billion Prestige, it would take proportionately more transfers.

Are YOU patient enough to make that many character copies?

Edit: Ignoring the time it would take to delete each serverfull of clones and copy over a new set, and assuming you logged in and zoned in instantly, the 30 second logout timer alone would take 250 minutes, or just over four hours.
  16. I could get behind a Global Name Purge, even though it wouldn't affect me. Wipe the globals off any account that's been inactive for 12 months or more, and grant everyone a global rename token. If the people who have been inactive for a long time come back, their global is set to the name of the first character they log in, and they can change it later, just like what happens to a new account.

Just don't purge the Globals of active or recently inactive accounts.

Names are quite possibly going to be a difficulty under the Free to Play model. I suspect that this will be fixed by allowing non-unique names. If I'm right, I'm not sure what I'll think about that change.

My understanding is that the "beam" is used so that our base can be anywhere - an apartment, an underground complex, a moonbase, or anywhere we want. The transporter is there so that everyone goes to the same place to access the base, no matter where the actual base is supposed to be.

Villain Accolade Powers: Why must sooo many more hoops be jumped through compared to Heros? Mayhems can't be acquired on your own once you pass the level requirement, can the same be said for Heroes to obtain these bonus Powers
Personally, I prefer collecting Villain Accolades. I'd rather stop and do a Mayhem every few levels than run all of the Task Forces for TFC. And Demonic vs. Archmage? I'll take the villain one any day.

    Quote:
Safeguards/Mayhems: Throughout the high level missions, Task Forces and Strike Forces, the low level cities are targetted and occupied by high level enemies... yet we can't find an opportunity to Rob Atlas Bank or Protect Kings Row Bank after a while?
My understanding is that this is a technical limitation, but I would love to see it fixed too.

    Quote:
Civilians Gone Wild: Does the civilians running around like chickens with their heads cut off into the middle of your fights in missions really add immersion? Can't they just stay where they are before they get hurt?
The ones in the bank in Mayhems are fine. Scare them and they leave. The rest, I agree - very annoying, and unrealistic to assume that a panicing civilian would run between a Superhero and the Supervillain they're fighting.

    Quote:
Fame Acquisition: I stop the Council in the sewers where no civilians are present and acquire Fame, yet I save Brickstown Bank in front of dozens of civilians and no one notices? And none of the kidnappings in story arcs improve my dastardly reputation?
*shrug* Fame is just the name of a game system. It's easy enough to ignore. My first character was a Magic Blaster. I counted once - Do you have ANY idea how many earrings he was wearing? He must have had elephantine ears.

The Untargettable Me: Target heal for you, PBAoE for me. Wait... Target Self may never happen, but why isn't there 2 forms of Fortitude? One quicker recharge for Ally, one slower recharge for Self? Swap Ammo has 3 Icons for Power Tray, would it be so bad if my Pain Domination had "Painbringer" for you, "Painbringer" for me? No wonder Traps is so desired... they already have this! *pets Force Field Generator*
That's a design choice for balance reasons, not just technical limitations. As to having two forms? That tech didn't exist before dual pistols, so it couldn't have been done with the earlier sets. Whether it would be a good idea to retrofit them is debatable.

PuG Story Arc Teaming: In the end, only the contact holder gets the Merits... unless we go back in time? Oh wait... Tips give Fame and Morality to all in group who are eligible... this makes sense.
With the flashback, the whole team is committed for the whole story arc. They can't join partway through. With normal arcs, I can run through Unai Kemen's insanely long arc, and then at the end invite seven people, and we all fly or jump past the Warwolves and smack down Requiem. 40+ Merits for everybody! Or we can run it all together and then each do the end mission seperately. 300+ Merits for everybody! Again, it's a balance issue.
And no, we can't have the system track what you helped with, and give proportionate rewards. Either it would only remember as long as you were logged in, and logging out for the night and back to finish tomorrow would result in the other guy getting partial rewards, or the progress would be stored in your character file, and every time you teamed with someone who was on a story arc, your character file would get a little more bloated (unless you finished the arc with them), until everyone's character files were so big that load times were affected.

The Unepic Epic: Kheldians feel so underpowered to the "shrug off nearly all mezzes" VEATs, no? Sure there's Dwarf form... but how they stack up to an AT that does the shrugging off with all their powers available? *asks personal Kheldian sitting at 6 months unplayed*
"Epic" only meanse "ZOMG awesome l33tsauceness!" in netspeak. It's actual meaning, and the one that the Devs said that they used, is "a long story", in specific reference to the 1-50 story arc.
Despite that, I know a few people who will argue with you over which EAT is more awesome. Your opinion isn't wrong, but it isn't universal either.

Nothing for you: Communications Officers open Portals to more aliens, Death Shaman continue to "bring out their dead" until the moon turns blue, Malta has insane HP drones, the Carnies fantastic phantoms... all for the low, low price of... 0 XP/0 INF? Hrm, yet the Sky Raiders shield generators reward INF and the IDF's Orbs give Minion rewards? *puts 1 and 1 together and comes up with 1 big scratch of the noggin*
Yeah, no reward enemies suck. It sucks that they weren't adjusted in a way that let them still give rewards. I wouldn't complain if they were changed back with a different anti-farming limitation (like maximum number of summons).

Stick Around a While: I was defeated in combat by Knives of Artemis' caltrops after they were defeated... or was it the other way around? No wait, mine evaporate when I'm defeated. Hello Carnie Phantasm... why can't you be more like Outcast Fire Imps?
I never noticed the Knives' caltrops, honestly, but some CoT patches do that too. The Carnie Phantasm is annoying, and if he summons a Decoy just before he dies, he's even worse. There's a couple factions that summon Animated Stones that don't die with their summoner. Those suck too. And all the pets on this list fit into your previous list too.
  18. Those are all global unlocks, right? Nothing on that list is per-character?

Are you going to buy a new computer for me, and for everyone else who doesn't have a computer that's good enough for Ultra Mode? Because the barrier to water powers is that they'd up the minimum system requirements for the whole game to the Ultra Mode minimums. If they did that, I'd quit on the spot - not because I'd want to, but because I can't afford to upgrade my computer. And I'm willing to bet that there's other players in the same boat. Since they're adopting a Free to Play model to entice people to come back, how much sense does it make to say "Hey! Come back and see how awesome we are! And we won't charge you anything for it! But you have to buy a BRAND NEW COMPUTER first!"

In a couple years, when the baseline computers are good enough to run the minimum Ultra Mode settings, sure. But until then, I'm afraid water powers are probably gonna keep getting the same response.
  20. I doubt anyone can copy over 10+ billion on a single character, since the cap is 2 billion. Remember that the Market is seperate from the game servers, and so is Email. That means anything you have stored in either of those locations doesn't copy over with you. That means many transfers would be needed, which sounds like a painful process, especially when transfers to test have a bad habit of getting lost for several hours before arriving.
  21. /macro Release releasepets
    -or-
    /bind X releasepets

The first creates a button labeled "Release" or your powertray that dismisses your pets. "Release" is probably too long to fit well, so you may want to change it to something shorter.
The second makes it so that the X key releases your pets. You can change the X to any other key on your keyboard, but note that most non-alphanumeric keys have special names.

I already have Winter badges from years before I started playing the game. If they can already sell those, I'm currently hoping that all the time-restricted badges become available for points.
  23. I solo a lot too, and I have no problem getting characters to 50. You are right, it is slower solo, and after 30, it's even moreso.

The absolute most important thing is to have a character you enjoy. I've only had one or two "Flavour of the Month" characters get to 50 because, no matter how effective they may be, if they're not my playstyle, they're not fun, and it's hard to go back to them.

Once you've got a character you enjoy, start doing Story Arcs. You can even go to Ouroboros and redo favorites or fill in ones you missed while levelling. Story Arcs are important to the soloer because of the Arc Completion bonus - some of them are quite large.

If you find your character to be fairly survivable, you can also consider increasing your difficulty. The best setting depends on both you and your character - a scrapper may want to fight higher level enemies, and opt for +2/x1, a brute may want more enemies to boost his fury and use +1/x4, while a blaster with many AoEs may choose to hover over groups of -1/x8 for numerous quick kills. Whichever you pick, if you can survive it, it's quicker than the default.
