Quote:no no no....
It seems you like Tankers, and there's nothing wrong with that, but don't start complaining when you're level 20 defender jumps in the middle of a spawn on *8 solo and gets destroyed.
My tanker can handle x7 missions and it's a breeze.
All my other characters have trouble at x1 solo with enemies set to -1!
Although it helps being showered with inspirations.
I tried a inv/ss brute, and he is nowhere near as invincible! of course he's not anywhere near the same level, perhaps he'll improve too.
Thing is, when I see other tankers in my group they seem to have very few aoe abilities. why is that? why would you play a tanker that way? which tankers get aoe? -
a long time ago, I made a fire/fire tank. She's hot. (duh) but at level 6, I was having so much trouble doing anything that I wondered what I was doing wrong, and I even considered deleting her because she sucked so bad.
Everyone else had raved about how tankers were awesome and could solo anything, but I was having trouble on individual minions, so I asked around for help, got into a group, saw a handful of levels fly by, and before I knew it I was leaping into the next group tearing into my enemies with wild abandon.
My fire/fire tanker is the only character I've ever played that is capable of handling missions set to higher than the minimum difficulty level while solo. reliably.
My dominator has aoe confuse, which sucks when it fails but makes for some fun situations.
my warshade is brand new and might be able to handle missions set to x2 at some point soon but I keep faceplanting as soon as I destealth to use sunless mire, before I can even hit the button for gravity well. even my heal is too weak to keep up with the dps of a limp-wristed pool noodle wielder.
But I run my tanker at x7 while solo and she can just take damage from loads of guys all at once and burn em down and it's just amazing. I mean I've HEARD of class imbalance but I've never seen a class operating "as intended" and doing better than I'd imagine any of my other classes even if they were CHEATING.
So I want to know. Is it possible for any other class to approach the awesomeness of this character or should I just consider another tanker for my next character?
And also, what sets would you recommend for someone who is absolutely hooked on the aoe potential of fire/fire? -
Mission Weekly Week Three: Net Neutrality Must Die!
(you're gonna want a group for this)
The first villainous arc for Mission Weekly, it's guaranteed to be evil! (One hundred fifteen percent guaranteed)
id: 450291
Please let me know what you think when you get a chance.
Update: 10/13/2010
Mission weekly is on hiatus for now. I've missed my deadlines due to circumstances beyond my control. Unemployment is a full-time job. :P -
Ooh, let me know what you think of 438445. Be sure to read the text at the end though. Kind of a big part. I'll see what I ca do about running a few of yours, they sound interesting.

"- The closest star is 4.2 light years away. Unless Peacebringers have hosts that can survive interstellar space, something Cyst-like or can 'hibernate' as well, it would take nearly half a Kheld's natural life to get here (assuming that, as an energy being and having no mass, they could travel at the speed of light.)"
Just a heads up, but if they were moving at the speed of light they wouldn't age, because each individual particle would maintain its relative position, and entropy would minimize.
If they were going close to the speed of light they'd age but they'd age much less. So even if the star were 50 or so light years away they could get here and age little enough that they'd be safe. -
They just released an expansion. Why would they encourage players to skip all that new and unique content that they just worked on? give it a while and they'll give AE more attention when they add praetorian stuff to it.

New Mission up!
Week Two: Destroy the Workweek!
(just in time for Labor Day, lol)
The Weekend and the workweek have waged war against each other for what seems like an eternity. That war has just taken an ugly turn. Saturday has been kidnapped! You've got to head to the frontlines of this war, and put an end to the villainy of the workweek!
Caution: custom enemies out the wazoo, and your build may not be solo friendly for it.
missions 1 and 2 contain elite bosses that may require a pack of inspirations. mission 4 contains some collectable items which can be very annoying if you (like me) have no sound, and mission 5 is a sort of humorous reward. Hope you enjoy this week's installment.
Next week, I will do some villain content! Or rogue, haven't decided which... -
Yeah, actually, that happened to me, but I thought other than when they bug out, it makes them cute.
It's also funny when you rescue them all at the end in one big group and lead the whole family out the door.
I was afraid if I front-loaded in that map that the player might skip right past the boss and get lost on one of those other 4 floors. :P yes I did that once, but in a different mission.
It does bug me that there are a lot of mission objectives that will not say their "player in range but not aggroed yet" dialogue until you attack them, causing a big flood of dialogue in the chat window right when combat starts, so there's no way you can follow along with it. Had to keep the dialogue very simple for that. -

Few days ago tips dropped like well, nothing else! I had them whenever I needed them. Now, here I am trying to tip my defender up and USHGUHDKGHLHGDOLGUHKD
I kill my way through an entire mission and get NOTHING.
Salvage is not full.
Recipes are not full.
Inspirations are not full.
I seriously took every precaution to help my drop rate and nothing is working. So is this intended?
lol, shortly after posting this the drop rate became much more reasonable, but it was still low for two of my characters. Perhaps the forum is tied to the random number generator. who knew? -
Quote:If you were the first guy to comment, I only caught about half that message because I was logging out when I saw the yellow text.Hah, beat you to it Fred!
Er...anyways, noble effort but there were some things that could be cleaned up. Commented on these in-game. That said, I would recommend it to others.
I do appreciate the feedack from everyone.
The next mission will have much more custom content. I didn't need it for the first arc and didn't intend to spend time on things I shouldn't.
Someone mentioned that I should have made each girl have a different look. The number of girls - and the wife's description were a sort of easter egg, they were intended to be more like extras in the story, not main characters, so I fought the urge to make them all special and unique.
Some others mentioned that the first mission was very empty - it was also supposed to be. I knew which map I wanted, the one with green smoke, but the problem is that's a huge map and so I added some patrols and flavor text to it, but it was supposed to be an empty warehouse where you had to find the boss, not one where you claw your way through to the boss.
Playing a stalker in Praetoria enlightened me to how much more fun it is to skip unnecessary content, especially when it's unwarranted.
I actually don't have that much time - I just want to challenge myself to see how much I can do with what I have. -
I have a lot of ideas in my head and really needed a creative outlet for them, and the Architect system is really good for that.
I've started a project called Mission Weekly, which will be my attempt to provide one new Architect Mission each week, for every week that I can until I blow up or whatever.
444679 is the first one.
I called it Fastball Special, I'm sure you know where the title's inspiration came from.
It revolves around a baseball player for Paragon City's team, the Paragon Capes, who just lost game 6 of the playoff series against the Rogue Island Cowls.
(Even though there are serious limitations for male characters to look like baseball players, I did what I could)
I know I'm not the first person to create a character like this but I think you'll find the story of the mission interesting. I did what I could to add a few easter eggs for those so inclined.
Since this is the first one, I'm looking for as much feedback as possible.
And if you're interested in joining in, go right ahead!
The only rules I suppose would be that you have to add MW and a date to your mission so people know roughly when it was made, (or is that there already?), and do what you can to work around bugs in the system.
Mission 2 in the arc has one glaringly obvious bug: Nolan shows up multiple times (unless the architect system hides the duplicates) Because I can't set an ambush to only have one ally show up. Gah. Even though it is wrong and messed up, it tells a better story so I'm leaving it that way.
There's also a bug in that mission where sometimes one or more of the girls will get stuck at the entrance and won't leave. it happens when they freak out mid-door opening. I was worried about it at first and even /bugged it, but you can still complete the mission if it happens. Just pretend like you're not abandoning some poor girl in the middle of a big scary warehouse.
By all means play it, enjoy it, and downvote it into oblivion. I know I can do better and look forward to challenging myself. -
Oh, I thought it was intended that way. in GR's beta (I can talk about it now right? >_> <_<) The Message "GHOULS ARE ATTACKING" was met with 8 groups of ghouls attacking you all at once. I assumed this was also what would happen if you hit the time limit on the missions where you had to escape before the police arrived and whatnot. Like a game over but with a tiny chance of getting away.
Also I want to be able to customize those popup messages so I can say stuff like "LAWYERS ARE ATTACKING" or "BADGE EARNED!" "NO JUST KIDDING!" -
Curse you, Nemesis!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thank you friends for the quick replies.
I had a feeling it just wasn't available yet but wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything obvious. -
I don't have superpowers and I'm a hero. Though if I did have them, I might be a villain. I'm being realistic though. I mean are we talking flight, or telepathy, or the ability to spontaneously blow up anything you get angry at? 'Cause really, it would take a superhero to stop somebody like that even if they had started with the best of intentions.

This isn't really an awareness group so much as it is just an excuse to have fun.
I have created a new character, a Warshade, who was really just an excuse to have a Warshade. I gave her an outfit that made her look like the hero of a really cheesy 80's animated series, and while coming up with a bio, I went all out BAD FANFIC. It's a work in progress.
WARNING: avert your eyes, lit grads!
Amelia Duskwater was a famous pilot of Fort Paragon, training in the most advanced aircraft of the day, including the P-15. One day while she was test flying it, this Warshade dude flew up beside her an was all like "Hey baby, wanna merge?" And she was all HELL YEAH and they made like 12 babies and merged together and the plane blew up, but she was ok cause they teleported.
Now they are Dusk Pilot, avenger of the good and beater of the wicked bad, and they are totally awesome.
*catchy theme music goes here*
Now I just gotta find a way to wrap all the freedom phalanx in here, and maybe recluse too.
Yes, I realize the atrocity I have unleashed upon the world, and I encourage you to join in. -
When I saw the amazing stuff you guys did in the new expansion inside missions it really made my creative buttons light up and so I have a ton of ideas I'd love to translate into missions.
I want to know how to:
1. Make a map empty, have a guy at the front to talk to (or at least have dialogue appear when you "rescue" him), and then have a secondary objective appear, which, when completed, forces you to fight your way to the exit.
pacing wise it's the same as freeing the guy and fighting your way to the boss but it's the story I'm worried about and I just can't seem to figure out how to do it my way.
2. Create a ghoul ambush.
3. Populate the mission with a new mob type when a trigger is activated (if the map was previously empty)
4. Make a mob turn non-hostile when down to below a certain amount of hp. and talk to it. and customize the dialogue.
5. Make a moral choice and turn the mission into a choose-your-own-adventure story. (If you choose to use the philosopher's stone on the Unicorn, turn to page 5, otherwise turn to page 4). This theoretically would allow me to create a different ending by using pages 4 and 5 as different possible outcomes!
6. Also I want a pony. An Evil Unicorn Pony. -
Hmm, all this time I balanced my arcs around the assumption that players under 20 of all classes would be playing it.
That's ok right? I mean I figure the higher level players will have whatever they need...
Nobody loses any powers as they level do they? -
The Magic Man used that pocketwatch again.

Save a CoH player from Arachnos!
by @Party Kake
Poor James went and beat up Arachnos thugs one too many times in his favorite MMO, City of Heroes *dramatic music* and was completely unaware that Arachnos would take its revenge!
You have to go locate Arachnos's time machine, use it to foil their history-warping plans, and then destroy it for good!
There is a special surprise for you at the end of the mission, and yes, it is true. Be sure to read all the text!
(if you spot any glaring errors, let me know, I think I got them all but you never know, you know?) -
I am a huge noob and I did not know in the 3-4 years I've been playing that if you activate two inspirations at the same time that you get the benefits of both.
All this time I've been using no more than one red at a time, same with purples, oranges, yellows, etc.
I just thought I'd mention this here since I've never seen it mentioned anywhere until someone casually mentioned it while explaining how easy the game was for them. Go figure.
I do recommend that it be nominated for a tooltip.
I will go hide my head in shame now. -
Thank you so much! So I guess I know for sure I have at least one free slot. That's always welcome news!
-
A while back one of my characters bugged out and got a whole lot of vet reward badges that it shouldn't have gotten.
I've tried to avoid using anything I haven't earned so far but now I have 21 months of veteran rewards and I can't tell how many extra character slots I should have from the website.
I have 3 available, so it says in game, but I don't know if one of those is "legit" now or not.
Can anyone help me out by explaining when you get those extra slots through veteran rewards? I only saw 2, one at 60 months and one at 72, but she has the vet rewards for 51 months, so those can't be them. Is this confusing? I bet it is. -
Dawwww...
I just recently got my T-shirt in the mail that says:
THE BATTLE
50% Knowing
25% Blue Lasers
25% Red Lasers
-
What's really cool is that on one of my characters I have 43 Badges, but I have the badge for having 50 badges.
It's only going to be a funny quirk though for so long, I still have veteran rewards to earn, so that will ruin it. XD
