Quote:There's the problem right there. All Spectrals (except Nerva Spectrals) have attacks that debuff your accuracy. Plus, they have high resistances to Smashing, Lethal and Negative, so if you're using one of those damage types for most of your damage, the misses suck, and the hits aren't terribly great.I'm level 36. I really noticed a problem fighting lvl38 Circle Lt's. There were Spectral Demon Lords, but it was basically ALL Circle lvl38 Lt's.
If you're not doing it already, you might want to look at IOing out for set bonuses that help your accuracy. Crushing Impact for Melee Damage is a decent choice, Scirocco's Dervish or Obliteration for PBAOEs are also good choices. They'll give you bonuses to accuracy to all your attacks, across the board. -
Quote:Well, if it we were talking a 72 month veteran, they could create a character, PL it to 10th level (not that difficult), buy large inspirations, sell them on WW to the turn of a few hundred thousand influence, rinse and repeat.People spend merits on insps?! I thought that option was some kind of sick joke.
Now, what would happen, in the course of just a few runs of even just a few people doing this, would be that it would cause the large inspiration market to crash. Right now, a Restoration (large self rez) goes for about 100,000. But there's not a huge number of people looking to buy them. Same with Phenomenal Luck, or Escape. -
Quote:60 month is 5 Merits. 72 month is 6 Merits.Well, since 5 merits are given away as two different vet rewards... probably to prevent people from creating tons of random characters, getting the merits, buying the cheap inspirations, and passing the money along to the next guy.
I know... a HUGE difference from what you said. -
Some more pics, as I add a little more to the base:
A shot of the 'Mark I Time Sled'. I swear I've seen something similar, almost certainly in another thread on this forum, but damned if I can remember where.
A diagonal-rear view of the time sled.
Mostly finished with the decorating of this teleport bay. I'm going to have to enlarge the base again to add another bay, but that's going to have to be on the list after "upgrade the Basic Generator to the Turbine Generator". -
Er, Horus (the human part) is dead and who knows where the Peacebringer part has gotten off to, and Apex advertised himself as 15th level at the end of the Blue King Studios comic run. (Which is patently silly, as he was fighting Carnival of Shadows, Crey, and oh yeah... Requiem.)
That aside, yes, a WWTF would be nice.
While I'm here, another base question: Are there any plans to revise the Inf->Prestige conversion ratio to make it more favorable for us? (To be fair, GunTharr asked the question in the Base Construction forum, I'm just repeating it here.) -
Quote:That would be interesting, but I'm not sure how hard it would be to code. Also, the only point to doing such a thing would be if you were duplicating that new combination of items over and over again.Perhaps a feature you'd like is to be able to take a number of items, arrange them together, and then "bake" them, turning them into a single object?
Okay, by that I mean, let's say you have this framework of objects that you place around every telepad you put in your base. It's a couple dozen items that, because you're exceptionally picky/meticulous, have to be placed precisely to get the effect that you want. Now, naturally, you don't want to spend an hour per telepad doing this, so it would be beneficial to be able to group everything (sans telepad), as one group of objects.
The problem is, you'd have to have a comprehensive methodology of 'describing' that group of objects for the item database. (Presumably, this 'group' would only appear in your base's list of items under a 'Special' tab, so as not to make it confusing to find it.)
I suppose that could be done by having a virtual framework.... by that, I mean a defined workspace in the base editor.... sort of a macro-item-editor, wherein you create a collection of items, and give it a unique (for your base/SG) name.
However, it would be far more likely for the devs to create new items that fill the major gaps, rather then creating an extra editor for us. -
I already summed up the majority of my feelings in that thread.
Damn if I wouldn't love to be able to delete several hundred desks and replace them with a few larger items. -
Quote:Suggestions? Go to the Base Construction forum and read, I don't know, everything in the "Decorative Base Items We'd Like To See" thread.Back in January we kicked off the "Ask a Dev" series by Re-Introducing [URL="http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=206472"]MrHassenpheffer - What does the future hold for base editing?
Certain restrictions in base building are being adjusted and/or removed so with that comes some freedom and more options, from an editor perspective, the degree of control and fine-tuning you have in placing items. So thats one thing. Ive seen a lot of creativity with the way players use one object (or hundreds of them) to act as another so my other plan is to provide more base objects, more textures, and more themed sets. Suggestions?

Personally, I'd like to see:
1) Tech walkways (similar to the balconies, walkways, and platforms available under the arcane tab).
2) More steampunk-related items. (I'm using a lot of the sewer items, and some of the retro-tech stuff already, but dang....)
3) Large floor panels that have visible undersides. (For those who don't know, there are tech panels that can be used as flooring, but if you view them from underneath, you see right through them.) These should be available in several different styles. This would severely cut down on the number of items in a lot of bases as we wouldn't have to use dozens-hundreds of desks to make second and third story floors in the bases. (Heck, if there was one and only one thing to add, this would be it.)
4) The ability to rotate things at multiples of 45 degree angles, instead of the current limitation of multiples of 90 degrees. -
-
That was actually a complete accident. When I was placing the glass panels, I needed something to cover the turning of the corner, because there was a gap. When I placed the first light column, somehow it wasn't connected to the ceiling, and the second one (the one on top) fit perfectly.

Go Dark Melee, take Shadow Maul at level 2, take Flurry at level 6, and if you have the Veteran time (12 months), take Sands of Mu veteran reward.
Three attacks using basically the same animation of a flurry of punches. -
I'm stalled a bit on a couple of parts of the base, but I finally took a swing at doing something with the teleporters. Mind you, I've only done this to one so far, more for "Hrm, do I like this? Let me leave it like this for a couple days and see."
Yeah, using more sewer items. Mind you, if there some sort of large, tripod-mounted spheroid tank to cover the top of the teleporter, I'd use that instead. I might end up covering the 'pad of the teleporter with something eventually, we'll see. I'm also thinking the beacons need a jacob's ladder behind each of them. -
Hrm.... it should be pretty quick, but I have no empirical evidence to back that up.

AFAIK, the effects from the types of ammo 'linger' for a few seconds based on their normal duration. For example, the slow effect from any shot while using Cryo ammo will not lose any duration because you switched to another type of ammo. However, unless you're very quick or using some special gaming mouse or speed pad, you're probably going to lose a little DPS switching ammo types all the time.
On a side note, I just saw a level 50 Dual Pistols blaster on Virtue. *boggle* -

From the presentation they did at the last HeroCon, some graphical updates will apply to our characters. Notably, reflective surfaces (they demonstrated with, IIRC, the riot gear helmet option) will reflect the environment. So if you panned around your character, and looked at the front of the helmet, you would see a reflection of what was in front of your character.
There are also supposed to be some new emotes in I17, and I think there are going to be new stances (I can't recall the exact phrasing) for Going Rogue, although I'm not sure if those require a pre-order or not. -
I'm not convinced about pre-purchasing Going Rogue because it's not available on the NCSoft store site yet. So ner. :P

Quote:This is actually the first base I've ever built. I saw what some other people had done here, looked at a friend's bases, and watched a couple videos on YouTube on how to stack objects.Wow I wish I was that talented with base building. You have an impressive setup.
I guess the important thing is, don't sell yourself short. Don't be afraid to try base building. -
Thanks!
Got some more pics.
Overhead view of the base. (Careful observers may note that while there is a teleport room, I haven't shown a pic of that yet. That's because I haven't done a thing with it yet, other then putting in telepads.)
After many experiments with various tech items, I decided I might as well use the existing 'brass coloured' items, aka the sewer items, as the large part of the reactor. I did, however, end up placing many thousands of Prestige worth of large Jacob's ladders. This view is through the walkway glass.
An 'up in the air' shot of the reactor. (Hover is a godsend for base building.) Here you can see quite a few of the Jacob's ladders that I placed.
A close-up of the 'core' of the reactor.
I plan on changing the floor tile at some point, but right now, the tech-grid layout makes it so much easier to properly line items up. -
*nod* If we were talking about the real world, yeah, no one would probably trust your former villain. But this isn't the real world we're talking about, is it?
As it stands, yes, there are going to be some people who RP not trusting villain ATs. But unless you know a specific character was actually a Rogue Isles character and not a Praetorian character, it's all going to blur after a while anyway. -
What the heck, time for some possible ego-crushing.
I know it's not the best of bases, but I thought I'd put up some pics of the one-man base I've been working on for a while.
I haven't really done anything with the entrance room yet, as I'm not really sure what I want to go there. So right now, it's just some banner and a few other decorative items.
I've only got a 2x2 energy room so far, so on one side of it is the 'base scrubber' which is collecting all the dust and stuff and storing it in a holding tank.
Next to the holding tank is the generator. I'm trying to go for something of a steampunk look (which you may have guessed by the title of the base), so I've got various tanks and retro monitor in various parts of the base.
One shot of the control room. The 'sewer' computer is, RP-wise, the original computer banks for the base.
Another shot of the control room. I rather liked the look of the logo holograph inside the holodisplay control item, so I've kept that despite redesigning the room a few times.
A shot of one of the workshops. I'm actually standing on a second floor here. The turbines in the back room of the shot are actually supposed to be a conveyor belt (it's the best I could come up with), and on the left side, I built a 'clean room'. I have the worktables in there more for aesthetic reasons then to actually build a lot of things, but I don't have the control to put the last worktable in there yet, so I've just got the tech podium as a placeholder.
A better shot of the clean room.
Looking inside the clean room. The logos were covered up with a bunch of the blank paintings from the 'wall items' section. It took a lot of placing, but overall, I like the look.
A look at the second floor of the workshop.
This is a 7x7 decorative room which will eventually house a 'steampunk' nuclear reactor (or as close to one as I can make with existing items). What you're seeing is going to be a walkway around the exterior of the room.
A picture from inside the walkway.
I covered up the SG logos with small light columns. It makes the walkway pretty bright, but it was a lot quicker and cheaper then stacking even more desks or trying to use blank paintings to cover up the logos. I'm not sold on the white desks as that pillar yet, but I needed something there for now. -
I had someone send me a tell recently for "Demon farm?". Of course, they immediately logged off, so I can only assume they were trying to farm names to send CGF spam to.

I don't believe the Devs have said yet.
