Quote:Well, good to see the hybrid model is working out, then.
Of course, that's 70+ times as many instances of AP as there are people on the planet, and let's say that each instance caters for 50 characters, so that means that there are 3,500 accounts per head of population of the whole planet, just on that one server, which makes CoH wildly more popular than any other pastime in the entire history of the universe.
If all of those characters were laid end to end, it would reach from the Earth to the Sun 334,000 times. Since the servers went live, over 109,000 characters have been created every second. The character database has 167 times as many characters as human DNA has base pairs. -

Quote:He was talking about the SJ power animations flowing into each other, not into powers from other sets.I read recently (I think from one of the Ustream chats) that part of what makes StJ special and why we had to pay extra for it is that they apparently tried something new with the animations that are supposed to make it "flow" better when it switches between StJ powers and other powers. I'd presume that would account for things like flowing into the animations for shield powers as well.
FWIW, I have 2 SJ chars, one with shield and one without, and the animations appear to be identical (though I haven't gotten high enough to see every power yet). -
Quote:That wasn't meant as nit-picking; it was stated earlier in the thread (or at least how I understood it) that free accounts could see the AE license in the store, but premiums couldn't. Therefore, once someone bought the points to buy the license, the license *would no longer be available*.*looks at you*
Now that that nit has been picked, let's test this, shall we?
I may be mis-interpreting, but I was, in fact, trying to be helpful. -
It's impossible for a free player to purchase anything - as soon as they buy points to use in the store, they're Premium.

In another thread about Street Justice, a link was posted to this video.
Looking at the Freaks being fought, the names above them are in a font other than the default - how do you do this? (and also, if you know what font that is, I'd like to know) -
Quote:If you "know for a fact" they can fix it, PM them the fix. If you don't actually know the details, give them the contact info for the boards it's been fixed at.While it maybe a vbulletin issue, it has been solved by a dozen other forums I visit. Vbulletin is customizable for a reason. Just because it was a vbullentin problem doesn't mean, the COH forum admins can't fix it. I know for a fact they can. This problem continuing is a case of COH forum's Admins being extremely lazy/cheap.

Sadly, the original appears to be gone now. Anyone who hasn't been on the forums in the past couple hours will never know how truly epic this thread is.

It should be noted the the "No Buy Button" feature for already purchased items may not always work, *especially* between the Bundled/Non-Bundled versions of costume pieces; ie buying a costume bundle may not stop you from being able to buy the individual pieces.

Since the server lists have been merged, do we really need the (English language) Euro and Oceanic Lounges seperate from City Life?
-
I don't know, I wouldn't mind if they release more power sets than I can afford to buy out of my stipend. The more and faster they come out, the better.

I think we're supposed to get some sort of announcement today, based on Z saying something to that effect (to someone off-camera) during the downtime UStream. My guess, from something he said "to the audience" immediately after, is that it's going to be Redacted Melee.

Having completed the First Ward arcs for the first time, any chance of getting Serene's "Crow Explosion" as a costume change emote?
-
Yes and no. When you're Premium, the "thermometer" will tell you what unlocks at each tier. When you're VIP, it lists only the VIP benefits, so there's no easy in-game way of telling what you would have access to if you dropped to Premium.
-
The Tier 9 VIP will change occasionally, the repeatables should remain the same. Note that there has been some re-think about the cycling VIP rewards, because the front-loading of reward tokens for multi-month subs hasn't worked out the way the intended.

Judging from the point totals I've seen, you get your bonus at the start your billing month *but September's have already been awarded*, even for people who's billing date is post-launch.

...is really Praetor Scott?
A crazy idea popped into my head the other day. It was prompted by Posi making a comment about a "really cool cutscene" when asked if Praetorian Calvin Scott would ever get his wife back. I started thinking about what might make an especially dramatic scene, and this is what I came up with. Mother isn't Shalice Tilman in Aurora Scott's body; Aurora had the power to resist the transfer, and simply pretends to be "Tilman" to have the power and authority she gets as a Praetor. Shalice Tilman is either a prisoner in Mother's mind, or simply doesn't exist any more.
Anyway, that's my crazy idle time post for today. What do you think, or what crazy lore theories do you have yourself?

As a workaround in the mean time, using the Test Server copy tool is a quick* way to get a list of all the characters you have on each server.
*Well, quicker then using the game client, anyway. -
Quote:Here's a stupid question - does Remiel's arc grant Entrusted? I doubt there's actually been a potential Incarnate running it that didn't already have the badge to test that, but theoretically you could do it just off of mooched portals. This was a reasonable explanation originally. However, Mender Ramiel sends you to Cimerora in one of his missions, and in the briefing outright tells you that they've known about the Midnighters and their crystal all along. The exploration badge in Cimerora, the badge for defeating Romans, and the badge for completing ITF should all grant Entrusted with the Secret, since all three require time travel, and Ouroboros is watching your progress through those areas.

Quote:You don't actually have to spend the tokens to get the extra 150, just earn them. Tier rewards are determined by the "Thermometer" at the side of the display, rather than the tree itself.I hit 87 months on the 14th, if I remember right.
The way I work that out is something like this: Badge 87 would have given me another token, but I also get a token on my billing day, so it's the same. However, I also get 550 points on my billing day, if I fill out my rewards on the 13th all the way to Tier 8. If I21 had gone live the 15th, I would not be getting the 550 points for September, only the 400 point bonus for having an active subscription at any point in September, but before I21.
As far as I can tell, I'm winning 550 points on this. That is, if I got my math and facts right. -
One thing I was thinking about today, but can't check right now because the server's down, is comparing the play experience and options of a VIP vs a Premium player who spends $15/month just buying points. I suspect this still comes out in favor of the VIP, but I can see some conditions (eg a non-altoholic who isn't interested in Incarnate stuff) where the later option might be worth it.

I don't know, there's a decent-sized sports niche in hard-core gaming. Avalon Hill, the Advanced Squad Leader people, had a number of sports games, ranging from football/baseball/basketball to F1 and yacht racing. I spent a *lot* of time with Strat-O-Matic Football while I was in high school, right alongside D&D and SFB.
