Quote:What does Granite have to do with it?Ever bring a non granite Tanker? Simple truth is, old Hami needed 4 specific Powersets spread among 8-12 people.
Did I ever bring a non-Granite tank? Yes.
Even better: Was I ever lead taunt on a non-Granite tank? Yes to that also.
P.S. A yellow dawn also resulted in epic, crippling lag as the number of entities in the area instantly doubled. -
Quote:Once again, any technical difficulty or unpleasantness in the visual result is hand-waved aside. If it wouldn't be hard, then explain such a system to us.If they tied account names to globals, it wouldn't be hard to create a disambiguation that is elegant and attractive.
Firstly, this sounds lag-inducing. Secondly, the results for the cases where disambiguation is needed sounds ugly.Quote:2) When displaying the character name in chat, show the global handle ONLY IF there is more than one example of that name in existence on that server. All other characters, who have non-duplicated (i.e., unique) names, do not show the global handle. -
On a basically unrelated note, but posting it here since TonyV seems to be watching this thread:
I went to look up some contact information. I went to Red Tomax's site first. It didn't have the specific information I wanted but the page also had a direct like to the contact info on "Paragon Wiki" (that's what the link said). And.... it linked to the wikia.com site. And Tomax's site says, right at the top of the page, that it's part of the Titan Network.

For example, what if we got a reward window at the end of Dark Watcher's arc:
Claim Reward:
- 18 Reward Merits
- 180 Vanguard Merits -
I never doubted it. And, of course, his fight would have been dramatically different if he had Mother Mayhem and Malaise in there.

Quote:They will never even out until some time AFTER they are merged, if that ever happens. In the short-term, I don't doubt that a merger would cause considerable disruption and I won't even try to guess what it might look like - because it doesn't really matter. We could have months of economic carnage, but so what? We got carnage when AE came along. We got carnage when merits were introduced. We got carnage when AE farming was nerfed. This would be just one more disruption to the economy. All of the other disruptions settled down. It would be foolish to assume that a market merger would be dramatically different and cause permanent damage. My example of the Winter's Gift recipe is the perfect example of my idea of why villain markets and hero markets won't be merged until they even out.
In the long-term, I believe the game economy as a whole will be better off with the markets merged. -

Quote:That is correct and working properly. Under normal conditions, with no defense debuffs on you, your "Base Defense" will be listed as ZERO. Your typed or positional defenses are applied on top of your base defense to determine your actual defense vs a particular attack, but your defenses do not affect the Base Defense number.Just before I went down, I noticed that my Combat Attributes showed Base Defense = -100%, even though Invincibility's +def should have been maxed out with all those foes around me.
Invuln powers, shield powers, combat jumping, weave, etc - none of these change BASE defense. Off the top of my head, I can think of just two things that affect Base Defense:
1) Defense dubuffs.
2) Personal Force Field -
It can, if you have it enhanced for Taunt. My invuln has no ranged attacks and handles this fine. In the aggro calculations, damage is a factor, as well as proximity to target so a tank at range has both of those factors working against him/her. However, remaining duration on the Taunt also affects the numbers and that's where you can compensate.

Quote:You must be thinking of some other set. Integration is a toggle. It's like they say about regen: If whatever you're fighting can't kill you in 15 seconds, it never will.

I'm pretty sure all the accolade powers are affected by global recharge. Some of the vet powers and purchased powers are also - but quite a few are not.

Quote:I'm not sure why you're having such problems. What are the controllers' secondaries? We have two blasters, three trollers and a def working from range and using their pets.
As for the whole 'keep away - keep pets away', you actually can have a crowd in melee if you force her to target elsewhere. If you have a tank taunting from range, she will only fire attacks that can hit at that range. One of those is a heal, but it's a single-target heal and you'll just have to do enough damage to overwhelm it. This is how we defeated her the last time I did the STF. I was the tank and it was a bit annoying since I had to keep running around - we didn't have enough immob to lock her in one spot.
Also, anything you can do to boost the defense on the tank is helpful since I'm pretty sure her heal is not auto-hit. (It's hard to tell by the animations but my tank was bubbled and she seemed to miss often with the ranged heal.) -

Okay, and now let's take that extra step and write the thread title as it should have been: Everybody's Kung Fu Fighting.Quote:It's with the Everybodies.
Singular: Everybodies
Plural: Everybodies
Plural possessive: Everybodies'
Plural possessive as a contraction with 'is': Everybodies'
Singular possessive: Everybodies'
Singular possessive with... you get the idea, and it would just get sillier from here. -
Quote:Oh, I disagree strongly. Firstly, going from 70% to 90% is a DRAMATIC improvement. Secondly, in a given situation, that range may just happen to including the 'tipping point' where you go from 'eventually defeated' to 'will live forever'.If something is pounding through you with 70% resists, bumping it to 90% isn't going to rectify the situation. If you're lucky, it'll just delay it another minute or so.
It's like they say about regen: If whatever you're fighting can't kill you in 15 seconds, it never will. -
Quote:According to you. My OPINION differs. I think it's more than sufficient. Now, some of you don't like the idea of no longer having a unique name, and that's understandable. You enjoy knowing that nobody else can have what you do.
The problem is that it's not a good reason to not implement the system.
Except I'm not saying that. I'm saying, "I think this idea well and truly stinks because it's going to interfere with game play for most people." Sure, that "most people" part is my subjective judgment. If you claim otherwise, that would be YOUR subjective judgment.Quote:Saying "but it's mine and I don't want to share!" just seems greedy.
Back to this nonsense, eh? I have had no problems coming up with names on Freedom. Your personal difficulties in picking names are not sufficient cause to change the system for EVERYONE.Quote:Trust me, I understand the feeling of having something unique. But it's a petty justification for demanding everyone else play the "name game" for every new alt. I'm a roleplayer, and decent names are hard to come by on Virtue. -
Okay, but why would that affect the price? The Trap of the Hunter pieces in Pool C are still considered garbage. Since the usefulness seems identical, aside from positional defense builds, why the huge premium? Are there that many people out there itching for the full set for the defense bonuses??

Quote:Interesting. My drops have seemed quite random, except for one stretch where I got 5 from the same set . . . Absolute Amazement. However, this was quite a few months ago.Borked RNG?
Of my last 7 purple drops, 5 were Absoulute Amazements /*shrug
P.S. I wasn't displeased about it since they were dropping on my farm toon, a fire/kin, who could actually use them.
