I have a different take on some of this, and a few folks might agree with me. I LOVE my level 50s. I play them a lot.There are still tons of things to do with them even after 6 years...
It's the best of both worlds to me. I can run them at full power, or team with any lower friends and still have loads of fun! Just going from 0-50 in the game is not the end all for why I play. Perhaps that is why I have never once been bored, even when I solo for long stretches. I made it a point to give my toons a personality and a storyline...I don't farm them to 50 in a big hurry, although I don't really care if others play that way. In my heart, I think there are many players, like myself who come here for the fun and friendships that have been made, and to enjoy the little characters that took work to create. I know there are people who jump from game to game...I am not one of those. I really don't understand the need to create a toon and have it at 50 in an hour unless it's for 'monitary' purposes.
I am not a programmer and can't imagine the tremendous effort it takes to keep CoX up and running. The devs must have a reason for allowing/deleting certain aspects of the game. At times, this has caused uproars and resulted in players quitting. I look at these things as adjustments I must make, and I always did like a challenge...so far so good. People should be able to play the way they want. If it doesn't suit them, there are many other games out there that might be more fun. As for me, I will continue to stay here and can't wait to see the new surprises around the bend. Look how far we've come since Issue 1..oh my gosh! (It's like going from horse and buggy to men walking on the moon, LOL!) Bring on the new issues, perks, changes and other things. I'll continue to have fun and watch players come and go. This game has provided a real learning experience for me, and I have a rich history in it. I may not always agree with what the Devs do, but I am glad they work hard at doing it.
I really didn't mean to be this long-winded, but just wanted to share one long time player's views with others, for what it's worth.

OMG! I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I logged in after the patch! I verified files, even deleteted the checksum and tried in Safe Mode, but still have the white patches. The textures seem to be missing! ( I have an Nvvidia card also, and NEVER experienced tnis in almost 6 years of play.

My beautiful game!!! I hope this issue is fixed..and it is apparent that I am not the only one this is happening to. I have a feeling this is setting things up for Ultra Mode, but from my understanding, Ultra Mode is an option for those with high end cards...we should still be able to play without all the extra shinies as always. Please devs, help us out here!

I have noticed this recently in the AE building, PD, the University and so many other places. a lot of the local gentry are imbedded in the sofas and chairs instead of siting on them or standing away.


It's not a game-breaker, but it sure detracts from the 'feel' of the game. Has anyone else noticed how much this appears?
As long as I am being vocal, I sure wish we could have our enhancement mouse-over descriptions back at the stores. That was sure handy.

Try this...go to your CoH folder and delete the checksum file.

Then go to your desktop and start CoH. The checsum file will rebuild itself so all corrupted files will be deleted. Hope that helps!

I think that the amount and intensity of the special effects has to do with the Particle Physics Quality along with the ability of your video card to handle it. To see this in action, go to where Mirror Spirit is in Faultline and look at the water fountains. Play with the slider and see how the water looks. If you have your setting cranked all the way up already, then I don't know what the problem is. I have an MM with Grave Knights, and the sword lightning is still present for them.

I have 2 accounts and purchased the GR codes one right after the other, using the same card. The trick was that I used PayPal on the second one. I always do it that way when purchasing the perc packs. Hope this helps someone.

The same thing happened to me. I use the same password that has gotten me in the game for a few years. I entered it 3 different times, being careful and making sure there were no caps. Still said it was wrong. Got out of the game, and ran the 'verify files' and logged back in without a problem. I don't understand it, but glad that took care of it.

I used to see that when I had AOL..2 instances. I usually terminated the one using less mem usage, and it seemed to speed it up. You might try that. If IE closes, then you know to leave it alone next time. You also might check your TM again after a few minutes and see if the second instance closes itself.

your checksum may be corrupted. Go to your CoH folders in Windows and delete the Coh.checksum then open your CoH desktop shortcut and let it rebuild itself. Also, defrag if you haven't done it in a while. Hope this helps!

Ichigo, there was a patch yesterday, and after one, many people experience problems. I ALWAYS defrag right after a patch because they really skew up the CoH files. ( With Defraggler, I actually saw all the borked files before I attempted to enter the game.) You might start with this first and see if it helps. If not, try and delete the Coh.checksum from the folder and let it rebuild..there might be corrupted. Good luck, and hang in there!

Make sure that you are the Administrator when you are logged on. You also might try reinstalling the Visual Runtime C++ Library from the Microsoft site.

I just installed and tested them and am very pleased. The last couple of Nvidia control panels would not allow image sharpening, for some reason...this latest driver fixed that for me!. (I like to crank up the image sharpening and the digital vibrance a bit.) I went to CoH to give it my ultimate test. I must say the game looks beautiful and a bit more 3D. I was able to double-box without a hitch..everything loaded quickly. So far so good.

Saya does some of the most creative and amazing base work I have seen in this game. He reidid our Wings Over Paragon and Fallen Wings Over Rogue Isles bases..to say they blew me away is an understatement. If Saya was a movie, he'd sweep the Oscars!! *applauds* He has my eternal thanks for all his hard work.

Even if you don't have a ninja type character, the new costume pieces can be combined beautifully with other sets...especially the Valkyrie and Samurai. I have some Elven toons that look great with the Terra top, and I made a toon based on the original Aeon Flux. Aeon is no ninja, but the run and flip are perfect for her! The perk packs are offered to us , and you don't have to purchase them if they don't appeal to you. As far as myself, I have found things to be happy about in every pack the devs have produced. Thanks devs, and keep them comming!

WOW..that is pretty hot. That might be most of the problem, but not too hard to fix.

Try some simple things first. Turn off as many background stuff that you really don't need when playing. (Things like Quicktime, Yahoo Messenger..etc.) Make sure you are defragged..messed up files can keep your game from running right. Open the 'run' prompt and enter ipconfig /flushdns.
Then, verify files and enter the game. Let us know your results, and good luck!

Well, it's working again..I have no idea what happened. Maybe being a healer pays off in lots of ways! LOL

It happens to me too...no biggy. Hitting 'log on' a second time gets me in. This usually happens when I switch toons, but can happen when you first get on. I think the previous logout process gets 'hung up' and the second try completes it. I think it is just a techy issue, but there wouldn't be any harm in reporting it if you wish.

Anyone else experiencing this? I love this vet reward, but it no longer works since the last patch. (Yes, I made sure WALK wasn't on..LOL)
