Weird Windows task manager issue

I used to see that when I had AOL..2 instances. I usually terminated the one using less mem usage, and it seemed to speed it up. You might try that. If IE closes, then you know to leave it alone next time. You also might check your TM again after a few minutes and see if the second instance closes itself.

Sometimes, a program will get "Stuck" when it's closing down, resulting in the process still running, even though there is no active window for it. If it doesn't go away in a minute or so (allow it extra time to sort out it's problem on it's own), just shut it down yourself.
OK, I shut down the one using less memory, and that closes the explorer window. When i close the one using more memory, it stays. But everytime I get online, the two instances appear. This morning when I turned on my computer and got online, same thing, but NOW when I shut down the one instance, i get this window.
So it's still happening, with an added pop-up.

This is perfectly normal. It's a trend that was started with Google Chrome's Multi Process Architecture, to have each tab be a separate process and sandbox them; that isolates each page from the rest, minimizing the impact of security vulnerabilities, and also keeping the browser intact when one of the tabs crashes.
You have one processs for the IE "main frame", and several processes the tabs. Microsoft calls this "Loosely-Coupled IE".

But I only have one tab opened. And it just started yesterday and i haven't downloaded any windows updates.
Also, all my saved login/passwords get reset everytime I get on now.

Also run a virus/malware scan just to be safe. You might have done something naughty.
First thing i did was run security checks. All clear on that front

Could be a pop-up or pop-under that's invisible because you have an adblocker running?

I opened my Task Manager and saw this
I only had one explorer window opened, but according to this i have two. I've never seen this before, anyone able to help?
