This whole waiting for 24 hours thing is absolutely ridiculous and does not in any way circumvent fraudulent behavior. All it does is severely tick off your paying customers. If in this day and age you can't find a better way to protect yourself from fraud, maybe NCSoft is not cut out for micropayment services.
I have bought almost every single pack/add on as soon as they've been available up until the Mutant Pack. I was in the process of moving and didn't have the time to purchase it. I come back, purchase the Alpha/Omega pack last night and it goes through fine. Go to bed, go to work...come home to purchase the Mutant pack and it won't let me.
Get this crap fixed please. It's beyond silly. -
Personally, I found that using /unloadgfx stopped the flickering for a short period of time. The black flickering I mean. It would of course return a few minutes later.
It does not however fix the flickering of objects such as park benches that mysteriously appear/disappear depending on which way I'm looking or moving. -
Quote:Have you played this game before with this machine?
Memory: 448MB
.Net Memory Report: 94MB out of 447MB available
Video Device Name: ATI Radeon Xpress 1150
If the answer is yes, I can't even imagine how you've managed. Make sure you have no other software running in the background. You have 512 RAM but your OS and any other software is sharing that. I'd be surprised if the game would even run let alone start. -
Are you kidding? If there hasn't been any type of a response or even a "Hey, we know there's an issue!" by now, there probably won't be. They're notorious for ignoring things till it's all over and done with or well into stupid hour.

I love that there's been no official word on it. You know, since it's been going on for hours Lol.
-
It's MUCH worse now. The ping is up above 10k. Ridiculous.
-
Yeah. It's definitely Sharkhead. It's absolutely horrible. Mapserver literally every 5 seconds or so. Rubberbanding is obnoxious too Lol
-
Interestingly enough, the connection is perfectly fine in mission. Something is amiss with Virtue.
-
Anyone else experiencing lost connection to map server every 5 seconds on Virtue?
My current ping to the server is over 4000. My friend at the other end of the city is experiencing the same thing -
Quote:QFT.My question about the refund has been answered in a polite manner unlike you did, thank you. Or do you mean people can't ask stuff in the forums like 'omg how does this power work?' or 'Why am I missing my attacks i slotted 6 dmg in fire ball'. What do you answer, 'go read the power description or City of Data nubcake'?. I just try to help, this is a game, people don't read everything related to it. You can see my post history outside of the tech forums, I never said 'DON'T POST THIS HERE' like you did so rudely. If you don't like my thread, don't post on it or ignore me.
Obviously it's my responsibility for a game to work for me. It would be my responsibility if I tried to install Fallout 3 here and found the hardware isn't up to the game, I wouldn't have the right to complain.
Now playing a game for two years smoothly and enjoying it on a supported video card (remember i play on windows), and having its graphics turn to crap because of a patch overnight... How's that my fault? Everything is up to date here, I always update my system and drivers, nothing more I can do.
Sure show your e-peen and all if it helps your self esteem, but I reserve the right to not agree with you since it's not a new game that I've been testing for just a few days.
Lately, there's been an onslaught of rude posts by some of the usually more helpful players in this area of the forums. Sorry you had to experience it. Maybe they bought their corn flakes at the same store -
Quote:I believe that you may have reinstalled them and they are the latest drivers, but sadly your machine isn't reporting them correctly. Something with your drivers is working incorrectly. They are the most recent drivers, I even reinstalled them to make sure

Count me in as someone who has been having connectivity issues with just CoX. I'm also extremely technically savvy and very rarely have any connectivity issues at all. I suppose it's all on my end though *snicker*

That message comes up if there is any other window in focus. Whether it's WW/BM, Icons, Base editor...It seems to be automatically generated when you have something else above the chat window in focus.
Personally, it needs to go. It's obnoxious. -
I noticed that the newest braided hair is missing as well. I'll have a look to see if the gloves are missing for me too next time I'm at the Facemaker.
-
I'm also having the same issue. Has anyone PM'd this thread to a redname? I'm thinking maybe they should have acknowledged this as a bug by now. It's really annoying and a pain the butt to go and change all of the colors back.

Several have been able to resolve long loads by doing the following:
Right click on your City Of Heroes shortcut.
Click on Properties.
Click on the Compatibility tab.
Make sure that "Run in compatibility mode" is unchecked.
A little further down put a check mark in "Run as Administrator"
Hope this helps. -
I can pretty much guarantee you every single one of those things has happened. They most certainly are not Urban Legends. At least 4 of the 5 listed are things that I had to deal with personally during my 5 years as a technical support representative.

Add me to one of the people who don't understand why we haven't bothered to take the opportunity to advertise in/around the COUNTLESS number of super hero movies being released. There are SO many missed opportunities there. It strikes me as horribly inept. There is NO better market for it. People flood to go and see these movies (Whether they're superhero fans or not). Someone needs to pick up this ball before it rolls out into the street and it's nearly impossible to get back.

Quote:I found specifications for both. They appear to be identical. I suspect if there is in fact a XL2370 and a XL2370-1, there's most likely a small internal difference that doesn't change any of the specifications per se. Could be something as simple as using a different module on the mainboard in the monitor. Either way, I wouldn't stress over it too muchThe link on NewEgg went to the XL2370-1, and I found the just plain 2370 (no -1) in my local best Buy and several online review links. I'm looking to find what the difference is (new internals, fixed an issue, whatever) but haven't found anything as yet. DO you have any idea what the -1 version has different?

Quote:I don't personally own a Samsung, but I do know others who have them. Samsung is very high quality currently. Both in televisions and monitors. They've really stepped up their game over the last few years. I would say you're probably looking at getting a decent monitor from them.Been looking on the net for quite a while today. It seems that Samsung is about as close as I'm going to get.
Anyone have this one for a quick review/yea or nay?
If you wanted to find reviews for that specific model, it's fairly easy to do a search in Google for reviews. You should find plenty -
Very good suggestion. I would recommend a laptop cooling pad as well.

Quote:Without insinuating that you're insinuating anything, I think your observation is absolutely spot on. Even without Arc's knowledge, this is the case with many on these boards. It's more of an e-peen contest above anything else. I won't deny I've partaken in it myself, but that was one of the reasons I tried to steer clear of most topics and hung out in the Tech forums for the last year. I'm thinking I might need to do that again. In real life I try to be as neutral as possible with any issues or drama that arise, it's hard to do that here with the ego clashing. Most threads with Arcana degrade into the same thing.
1.Someone will post a point of contention.
2.She will post something stating they are incorrect with some obscure reference that has nothing to do with the issue.
3.That person will respond, usually getting a bit aggressive in their position. Citing X precedent, or X related issue, or X work experience
4.She will then retort and insult their intelligence and give more explicit information on the matter while presenting it as her own work, or her knowledge, or her opinion/position.
5.The other person will get upset and demand how she knows what she is saying is correct.
6.She will insult their intelligence yet again and then let on that a Dev told her, or she saw it on the dev spreadsheets or w/e.
There is almost never any point to arguing with her with regard to some game mechanic. She has access to information that you do not. Or else she wouldn't be posting.
Rather then go through the process of her belittling and berating whoever it is that challenges her that day while she builds up her ego, it is far more productive to just stop. Ask if a Dev gave her the information, or if she is using information that no one else has access to. If so, ask her to share it and then begin approaching a solution to the matter.
Should cut down about 4 pages of any interaction with her. Instead of every thread breaking down into a pissing contest something productive might actually emerge.
*please don't interpret this as anything other than it is. An observation of numerous interaction with her. I think she is very smart, very dedicated to the game, and puts in a ton of hours.
I also think there are a lot of other people around here who are very smart, very dedicated to the game, and put in a ton of hours. I believe the main degree of separation between them is that one of them has access to information that few others do. Having "insider knowledge" doesn't have to be a negative thing if you are upfront about it. I've just noticed that it is usually after a heavy dose of berating that the source of the information is revealed.
Anyway, like I said, just an observation formed over time. Feel free to insist that I'm insinuation something I'm not. -
Quote:If you believe that the development team hasn't created a tool even remotely close to something like this, you sir...I can't even finish it.*facepalm*
"Now, for the sake of argument, let's assume that we have a tool (which the devs may or may not ACTUALLY HAVE) that proves my entire point."
We know that a lot of what the devs have is kludgy and old, and I would bet they don't have a list of all the available powers in a form that would be easily sorted like this. Would it be a good idea if they did? Of course. But you don't know they have that and therefore your "proof" is invalid.
But if you do, by all means, take the afternoon, compile your super-easy list, and send it on to the devs.
I understand there are dev fanbois, but this really cuts the cake. Tools created to assist in maintenance when it comes to databases and other types of technology in this industry are pretty much a requirement. Just wow. I guess if you didn't have a legit rebuttal, ignorance always works.
