Quote:Again, you have a damaging self heal, infact you have one of the only ones in the game.I don't know the names ... T1 >T2 > T1 > T9 (repeat) only use syphon when I need health, low damage for the cost. As I said. I can kill (most) AVs with no insp. It's mobs I have trouble with. and a self heal based on damage would help that.
Midnight Grasp is your t9, Smite is your t2, siphon life is your t5.
I would strongly reccomend using the chain I mentioned above, MG>SL>Smite (t9>t2>t5>repeat). You will probably need more recharge to do this but you will increase your damage output by quite a bit as well as your survivability. Integrating Siphon Life into your chain will keep you at higher health so you don't come across points when you *need* to use SL, leaving those situations to respites and sturdies. -
If you have and are using Siphon Life and are softcapped to M/R/A and are still dieing, well something else is wrong (having to do with either your attack chain or what you're fighting) and adding miniscule amounts of extra healing/regeneration won't solve it.
Do you have enough recharge to run MG>SL>Smite? Siphon Life is effectively a huge regeneration buff when it's an integral part of your attack chain. -
Quote:It would be nice to see the 60 thread bonus added to MoM, even if it was at the end of the trial. The only other objection I have to this trial is that I don't really find it rewarding enough to play often. You get the completion table and the Emps, but a tiny number of Threads. UGT and TPN give what I consider excellent rewards, and Keyes gives two Emp Merits, though only once per day. If I want to run something multiple times per day for repeatable Emps, it would be the TPN every time, even though it's longer and requires more people to start.
Combine the reward with the fact that even tough trials like UGT are more forgiving of having "lowbie" 50s along (in terms of level shifts) and I'd usually rather form/join something else. I run MoM for badges and occasional giggles, but not so much for progress.
I still facepalm over the fact that TPN got the 60 thread bonus and MoM didn't. -
Quote:I like that MoM is hard alsoIn a way, I am glad MoM is hard. It is the 3rd generation itrials and it's not meant for incarnates who have not advanced to 50+2 or 50+3. I think even 50+1 is a bit too low for second part of MoM because of all the auto damage and the spike damage from AV. Once you are dead, you will have a hard time getting up without a real rez. A small wakie will not do it.
Key point in MoM:
1. Bring Psionic protection!!! Widows and /dark are the best choice. I have the most easy time with my Fortunata. Several Mind Links will give the team a lot of psionic resistance. Those "pink patches" deal psionic damage I think because my Fortunata can stand in the patch for a while. The second time we beat MoM, we had 2 Widows. 2 Mind Links can really reduce AV's psionic damage by a large margin.
2. Bring more 50+2 and 50+3 which also means you'll have destiny. Barrier and Rebirth are needed.
3. Second part requires attention. Don't use any aoe that have immb/knock back or any control effects that can stop Voids from getting close. We were told to just use ST attack on AV and the tanker will bring one Void at a time when we need it. Don't use pets that you can't control.
MoM is meant to be a challenging trial for higher levels. I've failed it 4-5 times and finished 2 times. I don't hate the trial.....*snickers* But seriously, it's a great trial.
If you're going to use a wakie in MoM (and you should, since taking a rez from Desdemona reduces your time by 15 seconds), if you died in a pink circle use a wakie right after they disappear then pop a wakie and a break free, you have ~5 seconds before pink circles drop again. If you didn't die under a pink circle make sure you're not rezzing before pink circles are about to drop, you can view the timer for the pink circles in the trial objectives window.
I want to say the pink patches are irrestable damage, but I haven't done MoM (or any trial) in so long I can't remember, so I could be wrong. The most surefire way to reduce the damage from the pink patches (and without having to depend on certain ATs) is Rebirth. With a few rebirths its quite easy to stand in pink patches and not die and this makes it a whole lot easier for the melee if someone(s) doesnt move away from the target before pink circles drop. Fortunatas and Night Widows are still fabulous for this trial though since they will help resist the direct damage of most of the AVs, especially nice for malaise because of his hax blind, your tank/brute holding aggro with a psi resist shield can easily be detoggled by his mag 20 hold, but psi resist buffs like mind link will still hold up.
2 (specifically 2, no more no less) Clarions are also pretty important for the last fight (and sometimes the 2nd to last stage also) as it prevents her confuse. -
Quote:You don't need that many greens. Purples and Oranges will also help, or just build your toon for softcap like everyone else does.I don't have a inspiration slot for every attack in between the drops ... and greens don't drop every time ... So that comment is not accurate.
Now to the actual idea of IO heal procs, it is already ingame with Entropic Chaos, and it's awful. It could have double the proc chance and it would still be awful. Now if they made a new targetted aoe set (as mentioned by EnigmaBlack, we could really use another one of these sets) and the proc was a chance to heal (10-20%) then it could potentially be good since it would have a chance to proc on every target hit. This is why IOs like ToE +end and FF +rchg IO procs are so good because in powers like dark regeneration and pbaoes with knockdowns they have a chance to proc on every target. With 10 targets it's effectively a guaranteed chance to proc. -

The only significant thing Defender Traps has over Corruptor Traps is:
--6.6% higher -res on Acid Mortar and stronger -tohit and -dmg on Seeker Drones. The higher -rchg on webnade is insignificant.
--3.3% higher base def on FFG, makes softcapping wayyyy easier, and softcapping to all positions a much bigger possibility.
Web Grenade(effectively), Caltrops, Triage Beacon, Poison Trap are the same.
Trip Mine and Time bomb are better on Corrs, though you shouldn't be taking Time Bomb anyways.
So basically better seekers, acid mortar, and easier softcapping for Defenders, better trip mines and more damage from their primary for Corrs.
I'd take the corr any day of the week unless I was specifically going for softcap to everything. -
This'd again. All offensive toggles will be shut off when mezzed, this is one of the very few circumstances that this even affects melee in pve, typically it's just an issue for AT's without mez protection. It's not a bug or broken in any way. Before they changed it to mezzes only detoggling offensive toggles you would lose EVERYTHING if you were mezzed, this system is much better. The antimatter fight is not long or hard, I'm sure you will be able to survive without RTTC or take 2x3 seconds to retoggle it throughout the fight.

Quote:I disagree. I feel it is entirely the devs' fault. But that's because I oppose the idea of trials in which critical information you need in order to have any reasonable chance of succeess is kept from you until you go in and, inevitably, fail (multiple times usually). Your own experience is indicative of this. In fact, I submit that the I-failed-it-X-times-before-succeeding-in-the-first-days-of-the-trial is so common as to be normative, leading to an overall first-time success rate in the low single digits. As I've stated in other threads, I consider that a serious design flaw.
In MoM It Is All About High DPS (and therefore Level Shifts)
I'd also like to echo and emphasize the importance of level shifts in MoM. In at least three of the phases, having high dps which is not heavily reduced by the purple patch is essential to success. Against Penny you need the dps to make any headway against her while your meager supply of voids are making her damageable. Against the Shalices you need a combination of good soft control and high dps to keep them from reaching the Well in the center of the room. And in the final fight you need high dps to defeat Mother Mayhem in the three minutes you have available.
So if PuGs are too likely to fill the league with too many +0s and +1s, then that trial should probably be avoided by PuGs. Let that be a lesson to any leader trying to form a MoM league; be sure to stack the deck with as many +2s and +3s as you can, particularly when it comes to your damage dealers. Otherwise the purple patch will mortally hamstring your league during those phases where you can't afford to be low on dps.
Failing trials isn't a design flaw, it's not the dev's fault, learning by trial and error is standard in pretty much every game - mmo or single player game, MoM isn't just about high dps, having good aggro control, mez, buffs, debuffs, and healing add just as much to MoM leagues as dps does, first time success rate is NOT in the single digits - you realize that means failing at least NINE trials for every success right? (and that's just 1 in 10, low single digits success rate, meaning 1-5%, 5 groups of 100 groups will complete it their first time through it? you've got to be kidding me!), Level shifts are not out of the ordinary for a trial meant for people who are already into the incarnate system, if you aren't +2 or +3 there are plenty of other things you can do to progress yourself, if you are forming a trial for MoM but end up getting a high number of low level shifted people, do a different trial, no one is forcing you to do mom if you don't have a strong enough league for it, the final fight is trivial with lore pets, this comes with having people level shifted which this trial is meant for.
Really they should just flat out ban people from bringing +0s and +1s to newer trials, like how people lower than level 45 can't do a RSF or STF so this doesn't keep coming up. All it does right now is make people hate these trials cause they can't complete them with toons that the trials were not designed for. -
Quote:I'll never forgive them for nerfing instant mission tp. It was one of the coolest temp powers ever, entirely because it was a mission tp and it was instant. If they sped up the activation of mission tp like the 5 charge temp power was, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.
In some instances, it's almost faster to just SS to a train.
<sigh>
At least we don't have to ride a giant turtle like they do in some other games.

Quote:The biggest factor of difficulty is the level of the GM. While all GMs have the GM code which makes them con the same to every player they still have a level which affects how much HP it has and by extension it's regeneration. For example, this means killing a Kronos Class Titan GM or a Devouring Earth GM takes significantly more dps or -regen than it would take to kill lower level GMs such as Paladin and Babbage.Giant Monsters: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Giant_Monsters
As far as what is most difficult, that gets to be a bit more subjective. Could depend greatly on the AT and player. -
Doms are great. My mind/fire/ice dom is one of my favorite toons.
I built him as 100% single target damage though with st and aoe control and sleet for ridiculous debuffing capabilities, with sleet it's like you have 3 primaries. No joke. -
Fire Blast, Cold Domination, and Kinetics are my favorite sets. I wouldn't be able to pick just one.
-
Just to re-emphasize what Bill said, building for +hp and +regen can be really nice on defense sets without a heal (SR and Arachnos Widows, Fortunatas, and Banes) and to a lesser extent but still very useful for defense sets with a heal (ice armor, crabs, energy aura)

Quote:My mistake. I don't have access to the beta forums so I don't have alot of info on the DD trial. Regardless there is still plenty of content players can do between hitting 50 and doing the harder trials, DD included or not.The DD trial is not meant for people well into the incarnate system. It is the end path of a short arc in Dark Astoria that in no way will let players get themselves to an adequate level to which they can complete it. Dark Astoria being the solo-able path for incarnates.
-
While I don't RP, ever, all of my characters take on a spirit form, so I suppose they wouldn't age.
-
This may be redundant to say, but did you try relogging, sometimes it takes a bit for the paragon reward tokens to pop up.
-
Quote:And? The newer trials are meant for people who are already well into the incarnate system. New 50s still have their options to progress themselves (normal TFs, WST, Apex, Tin Mage, Lam, Baf, Keyes, and soon-to-be-added Dark Astoria). Asking for higher tier incarnate content to as accessable as low tier incarnate content for brand new incarnate characters is like asking for your level 20 to be able to do the STF, it's progression and it's not a bad thing.... for a team of +3s. As Eco has proven that for naughty-50s; it's impossible.
Quote:The other problem (for me) is the reputation of old Keyes, Underground and TPN have soured my expectation for these newer ones and even if DD is as 'easy' as claimed
Quote:I won't give it a chance. -
Repopulating praetoria would require the zone extending itself to level 50. There is no other way. The emptiness of low level zones is not praetoria specific. The majority of pre 50 zones are relatively barren, much of which is in part due to the sheer number of them.
However extending the zone to level 50 would require a massive amount of time and resources from the development team, in short: don't expect that any time soon, or all at once, ala first ward. -
Quote:Just as an fyi, if someone is in melee range with maelstrom (not marauder) he will will not use his teleport kick attack. Either request for someone to tank him or get inside the buildings faster, the longer you stay outside the more opportunities he will have to kick your face in.I was up there in a vain attempt to avoid Marauder as I came back from the hospital. Haha! Silly me. He can not only one-shot you 500 feet up, he seems to have 1000% Perception and superspeed to boot.
And if you're a Controller or Defender, that boot has your name on it. Ugh.
TPN and MoM are becoming clearer as I run them more often. I still think there is a significant communication breakdown with these complicated trials.
And what do you mean by communication breakdown? If it's with the person leading your league, that's something I would bring up with them in private messages. Typically if a person is willing to step up and lead leagues (unless they're begrudgingly being forced into doing so) they will usually also be happy to discuss what to do on the trial. Sometimes they may not be able to talk until after the trial is over mind you. If it's a communication breakdown with the game not supplying enough information for the trial, I just don't see that. There are plenty of clues you can go off of to figure out what to do, judging by what the mission objective is, what the extra info for the mission objective is, what other players are doing, what is on the map, or reading up on the trial on paragonwiki or these forums. There are alot of resources that can be utilized. When in doubt, just follow the other people in the league that look like they know what they're doing. -
Quote:Would have to give people a reason to do something other than DFB first =/This is another reason why adding more complex fights to the 1-50 game is a good idea - it helps to train players for the Trials.
Otherwise yeah, I would love to see more of the incarnate trial type stuff spread out throughout the game. -
Quote:The tempest gyros (or whatever they're called) can be completely ignored when fighting Penny. Only the storm voids matter.Run in. Kill the first storm void in the middle of the room, stand in it to prevent the unresitable damage. Stack up in the middle, spam heals and buffs, get Penny into the middle, AoE like mad while brutes/tankers/scrappers kill the gyros and pull the voids in.
Can just have your league's taunter pull the first void to penny where she spawns and kill it there. 1 Rebirth is more than enough to keep the league up before the first void is killed. Makes getting Perfect Storm much easier.
I wouldn't "AoE like mad" as a rule of thumb. AoE'ing is typically means less ST dmg and you want to kill her as fast as possible. Also you don't necessarily always want to kill the Voids as soon as they're near her, unless you don't have immobs. If you kill 2 at a time, it's not bad, but it won't help either, and it means another will have to be positioned, and it will probably ruin your chances at getting perfect storm. -
Quote:The skinny:
Keyes is allegedly easier these days; the pulses are easier to survive, it is true. At the risk of sounding stupid, having run it a few more times.... I still have zero understanding of what we are doing and why. Zero. People running hither and thither as if they were on fire. 98% of them seem to have no clue, either. Fail.
Collect cells from glowies or warwalker EBs.
Use glowies on terminals on the reactor
If there are warworks near the terminal kill them or move them away
Repeat twice more
Fight Antimatter, if youre disintigrating pop greens
Collect loot.
Quote:Also: all cutscenes that trigger upon zoning in: epic fail. When I see the BAF cutscene, as I still do 98% of the time, I just pull up the Internet while I wait.
Quote:TPN? Arrant silliness, compounded by a roving AV who can spin-kick you dead in one shot, from 500 ft up. If that ain't a "WTF?!" moment, I do not know what is.
Quote:MOM: What's happening? Seriously.... what? Just be on a +3 is all I know.
Stage 1- move away from the target every 27 seconds before pink circles drop, then stay out of pink circles.
Stage 2- Unless you're assigned to void duty this is just a tank and spank
Stage 3 - Unless you're taking care of Aurora, this is simple. If there is a red circle under you move away from everyone else. If there is a blue circle under you or anyone move into the group.
Stage 4 - DPS malaise, when he reaches 50% DPS tilman and kill before she reaches the center, kill GMs only when they are near tilman.
Stage 5 - Summon Lore pets and pop destiny and watch her melt.
Collect loot.
