You may not select as your Character Name the name of another person, or a name which violates any third party's trademark right, copyright, or other proprietary right, or which may mislead other players to believe you to be an employee of NC Interactive, or which NC Interactive deems at its sole discretion to be vulgar or otherwise offensive. To the OP: Before you click {I Agree} to enter the game, scroll down and read this. Then decide what you think it means and act accordingly.
While drugs aren't specificly mentioned, the company gives itself plenty of room.
The term "at it's sole discretion" gives the company the right to decide what it wants in it's game, and no amount of clever "what I really meant by that was..." or "But *I* don't think it's inappropriate amongst MY friends..." is going to prevail over what is going on in their game.
Yes, we pay the $15 cover charge every month, but they hire the bouncers to toss out anyone they think is going to pee on thier dance floor.
ALSO: If you find yourself generic'ed, check your out-of-game Email (the one registered with the game). You should see an Email from the company regarding the situation. Respond with 1-3 names that you would like Generic2345343 to have (in order of preference) and they will give you one of those, if they fit within the letter or the spirit of the rules. -
Quote:Let me elaborate on this.I would like for certain badges to be made global, particularly and especially the anniversary badges.
I have every Anniversary badge on some character somewhere, but no more than two on any given one.
I have most of the vet badges on every character.
I have a fair number of AE badges on every character, whether they've ever stepped into an AE building or not.
Most of the AE badges are themed about the actions of one particular character. Whether clicking on a glowie or slaying a custom critter. Some of the AE badges are themed about the actions of the player (first to rate a new arc, created a custom critter, etc.). Yet almost all of them they are account-based.
The Vet badges are themed about the actions of the player, specificly: maintaining the account over time. And they are account-based for this reason.
The Anniversary Badges, IMO, are more about having your account current and using it during the Anniversaries than about the ingame activities of a character. Thinking about it, they are awarded for logging in, before the character has walked a single step or activated a single power. This is more like a Vet Reward badge to me than it is like any other. It should be account-wide, and I'd be willing to pay some small amount (not too much, but some) to make it so.
Paying to have all applicable badges account-wide would interest me greatly. I would be more than happy if the following would occur:
1) I pay my $5-10.
2) I log in to see that my new L1 hero has all the badges that any of my blue-siders has. Anniversary, Accomplishment, etc. Yet, some of them have an asterisk by them.
These ones with the asterisk can be used as titles (as any other badge) and can unlock weapon skins (Like the Tommy Gun from Untouchable, etc.). But they must be earned on that specific character in order to count towards an Accolade.
3) I enjoy my unlocked weapons to create a L1 Blaster with a Tommy Gun or a L1 Scrapper with a Rularu Sword, then get to pester my SG mates in order to take me to Striga to work on Council Warwolves and Vampyrs to get my Atlas Medallion. -
I would like for certain badges to be made global, particularly and especially the anniversary badges.

Blueside I can take multiple different paths. Atlas - Hollows - Faultline - Striga - Croatoa - Bricks/RWZ/PI/Cim. Next, Galaxy - Kings - Skyway - IP - Founders, next Galaxy - Hollows - Steel - Talos (etc.) and have a very hard time repeating content. There are contacts I've flat out forgotten about from having so much other stuff to do. I can't say that redside. (And don't get me started on the VEAT "arcs" of 1-2 missions.) i'd hoped unlockables would have helped that, but ... nope.
3) Kalinda/Burke/ SewerTeam/ Streetsweep--{Newspaper/Radio-->Mayhem/Safeguard-->repeat}-->RWZ
4) Turn on Sprint-->AE. -
I watched Alton Brown and thought he was that network's personal Vernon Von Grun.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you get your transfer intercepted, isn't it more a case of doing it wrong than a case of the interceptor knowing what to look for and doing it deliberately?
I've only twice made a transfer via the market (haven't really needed to do it, since every character can be self-sufficient), so I'm not sure. -
Quote:I agree.I just wish I could get the comment in the Control Panel back... they were so fun!
I wish I could choose to have that comments section back, perhaps as a expand/contract option.
Those that wish not to see the reactions that others have to thier posts could opt out. Those with burning porcine curiousity like mine could opt in. -
I don't see allowing a respec to change a character's origin from a gameplay perspective.
Note: If slotted with SO's, you're going to need to replace every single one of them. Not a problem since you can resell the used ones at full price though.
I suppose that if you did a wild change of your powers and slotting after doing the Terra Volta trial (not just burning a vetspec or crafting a recipe), you could SAY that the source of your new powers is Science. -
Quote:Whether good or evil, whenever someone gains power or wealth, there begins a group that dislikes and distrusts them.I take his actions and motives with a grain of sand. He may have began good, but a resistance doesn't form for nothing.
It's been around forever. Call it jealousy, fear or class warfare.
No matter how phanthropic the rich guy or benevelent the ruler, there will be a group against them.
Now when the powerful start earning that distrust and anger, then it really takes off.
Random example: In some workplaces, the most effective union organizer isn't the disgruntled employee, but the oppressive manager. -
Good point.
With that Sorcerer/Ink Man group, you are going to be in enough trouble with just the Ink Men.
Granted, every character tends to have it's weakness against something, but the more I try to make this AT workable, the further it gets from a true Melee/Melee. -
Quote:More zones? There have been a few good ideas for new zones, such as "Isle De La Muertes" or something like that.I think we need to do something to make villians better. Have more zones maybe, better missions, clear the islands a little bit, or all of them. I fear when GR come out no one will be on the villians.
Got any ideas on making the island better? I forgot to say, I want to kill and break anything I want as a villian : P That would be nice.
I would have an alternative to Mercy and Sharkhead, since folks seem to dislike those for some reason.
And I would add an alternative to Nerva, since I really dislike that zone. (I also hate Indy Port, and for many of the same reasons: Lack of Market access, vast amounts of area between features.) It doesn't help that Longbow patrols sometimes wander too close to the Arbiters (who don't have drones!!).
And for the sake of completeness, I would add an alternative to Port Oakes (KR has the Hollows) and Cap Au Diable (Steel Canyon has Skyway. Skyway=meh )
That would be five new zones, which would unfortunately spread the villian population further, so I'd probably just try to add 3 or 4 but allow them to have a wider level range each.
Randomly destroying buildings and maiming civilians?
No. Not going to happen and shouldn't happen.
You think that Arachnos is going to stand by while you shoot the guys who keep the power station running?
Or you burn down the dry cleaners that is laundering an Arbiter's best cape?
Or you shoot Black Scorpion's poker buddy and cousin?
What do you think will happen when you toss a grenade into the office of the contractor that is working on re-wiring the electrical panels of an Arachnos officer's brother's accounting firm?
Or the munitions factory supplying ammo for Recluse's troops.
Once you take over a land, you must rule it and that doesn't include allowing any knuckleheads tearing stuff up just for teh lulz. -
Quote:Being a completely different AT, we have no Inherent defined.Blasters have the luxury of range (and typically some control, even in the damage-heavy Fire/Fire combo.)
Melee-Melee? Run up, get mezzed halfway there, get to do nothing as you're killed - especially if you're killed from range. No, doesn't sound like a good idea at all.
Currently, my (solo) melee characters usually don't get noticed until they are right on top of the NPC's. As a Scrapper or Brute, I run right into the mob instead of slowly walking towards them.
Sure, they suffer a mixture of melee and ranged attacks from the enemy group, as there's always a foe in the mix who chooses to stand 10-15ft away and shoot.
But what if this all-melee AT had {Positional Defence: Ranged Only}, either as part of the new AT's inherent or as thier mandatory Tier 1 pick from their secondary?
That might help them survive to get into melee where they can use their attacks. -
Quote:If some Defenders can ignore most of their Secondary to gimp themselves, why can't a Tank? Then, if he's a tanker why does he have more Mastery powers than he has Melee powers? It makes no sense!
He's the melee equivalent of a "H3al0rz" and toggling on Granite is his way of Rocking the Aura. -
Quote:It is a German word, related to Christmas. Note that Prof. Xaos's name is an amalgamation of X-mas and Chaos. That's no coincidence.
"Positron discovered residual fractal energy from Professor Xaos' Mandelbrot Device at this location. .............................
Anyone who is expert in The Lore able to connect that to anything we have seen before? What is a Mandelbrot Device, anyway?
The Mandelbrot Device was the target of the endgame (L40!) raid during the Christmas event of 2003. Being during the pre-Beta, where AT's were free-form the few players that were available for the raid were unable to complete it, due to many of them picking horribly gimped combinations like ForceFields/Empathy and Invuln/Regen/Stone Armor.
They /petitioned for help and Positron finished the mission for them.
Or I'm lying and a Mandelbrot Device is a powerful weapon capable of destroying a city, using destructive energies greatly magnified from the playing of an un-tuned mandolin.

The concept of an underground city zone sounds like it could have potential to be a very cool zone.
Unfortunately, locking it to less than one-fifth of all L50's would mean that it would not be usable to many players. (Of course, there's also the question of "which faction?" which would reduce it down a bit further.) -
Positron was quoted talking about the Going Rogue expansion as having a new feature in it where L50s could do some (presumably difficult) tasks to earn ways to make them more powerful.
Vague as Developer comments are, one of the theories (floated by the players) is "Universal Slots", where you could earn special enhancement slots that would augment.....something? Your existing powers above and beyond ED?
Try hitting the forum search for Universal Slots or Universal Enhancements and see what you can dig up.
Also: I noted that in your first post you mentioned "Obey ED and no two of the exact same IO" rules when describing the Power Link power. Glad to see that little detail. -
I doubt that this would be implemented because of the sick amount of enhancement that could be applied to say, a Tier 9 power. If I'm understanding this power's effect right.
Granted, It'll never be able to reduce Lightning Rod's recharge down low enough to make it a Travel Power, but it might prompt the Devs to consider what it could do to balance.
Drop 4 powers to get four slots? I was thinking that you could only take Power Link once, (turning one power into your "Signature Move") and put 1-6 slots into it (Thus adding 1-6 slots into your other power, which is 1-6 slotted.
I may have made a few assumptions, of course.
I'm a little surprised that you have found yourself not wanting four more powers. Stopping one or two short I could easily see, as I often take the last one or two as something just for giggles. But I am always willing to consider new options.
Edit: the rumor of something called "Universal Slots" coming out in/around/after GR makes me think that something like this might not be completely impossible. -
-
Old sets: Fire Armor, Regen has a self-rez, SR does not.
New Sets: WP has a self-rez, Electric Armor does not.
I'm not sure about the having to buy lots of powers to complete the set" being restricted to only the old defensive sets, as I usually feel the need to take 8 of 9 on all four that I mentioned above. -
Quote:If I had this new "Power Link"?I think it would be nice if we could get access to a Power Link power either as a veteran reward or through a booster (or even better as a pool pick
). When the power is selected the player has to chose a power he already has to link to. The new power then becomes an extension of the original power and any enhancements placed into it count towards the first one. It basically allows a player to 12-slot a power at the expense of another power (and a bunch of slots of course). Initially the link would have the default slot so it would be a one power for one slot swap with the option of adding more. I would expect that the additional slots would follow all appropriate rules (no double the same IO, obey ED) so I don't think it would be overpowered.
Any thoughts?
With the original power being six-slotted, you're already looking at 98%+ on it's main effect (probably damage) and 60%+ on Acc/Rech/EndRed. (based on a L40+ set slotted in it)
So the next enhancements are going to go towards Recharge and EndRed. (With ACC like that, I need no more, especially if I have ToHit and Acc bonuses from Set bonuses or other powers).
Perfect for Tier 9 offensive powers like Headsplitter, Foot Stomp, Lightning Rod, etc.
Or, it would be used for powers that have multiple aspects. Follow Up comes to mind, being both a self-buff power for ToHit, and a (minor)damaging melee attack.
Edit: 12 slots in a power would leave me at a stretch for what to put in those final few slots, and probably using Procs to do it. -
Almost all of my blueside characters are in the same SG, so if they don't know each other, then they definately know *of* each other.
I've never seen any two of them in one place at the same time though.
Likewise with my redside characters, who are in the same VG.
However, my bluesiders do not know anything about the redsiders and vice versa.
Why?
Because the SG is in a universe code-named "Justice" by the guys at Portal Corps, and the VG is in another parallel universe code-named "Virtue". -

Similar to the term "WoW-Tards" when disdainfully refering to players of a certain MMO. -
*shrug*
It's not that big of a deal, I guess. It's just that it reminds me of people who play Mutant origin characters and make thier bios sound as if there is a government/society crackdown/hunt/hatred of Mutants, ala the X-Men comics.
There just isn't.
Heck, there's a section in Paragon City Hall dedicated to helping lowbie Mutant heroes get started in thier careers. Or at least shuffle them off towards thier choice of the AE, the Sewers or thier first Story Arc contact.
Until such time as a WoD MMO opens up and whisks them away from here, thier $15/mo can fund new content that I enjoy. And I can gently ignore thier bios and thier personal storylines where they cross the line of making/not making sense with the world around them. As I once said in the D, "I've got laser-shooting spider arms welded to my spine, and I'm not the wierdest one here." -
The sincerity of a person's apology is based not on the sincerity of their words, but on thier actions afterward. Time will tell.
