  1. Please also post the results of a HijackThis log - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

You can also use Speedfan to rule out overheating.

Speed buffs are based off of base speed of 14.32 mph. So, a 10% buff will allow you to hit the cap. There are speed buffs from IO sets. Also, there's a speed buff from the Day Job from logging off at trams, which is a 15% boost for a while after logging in.

    paragonwiki.com/wiki/Gift_of_the_Ancients:_Defense/Increased_Run_Speed 7.5% runspeed buff

It's working for me, even after switching builds.
  5. Post edited from Bug to Not A Bug.

I was originally posting about a bug that's been reported in a few threads and add my own results, however, I'm changing my report to: NOT A BUG.

What happened was that people were reporting that changing to a second build suppressed Ninja Run and Walk and Rest. So, I logged onto a character to test it. And sure enough not only were those powers suppressed, but all of these:
    • Pocket D VIP Pass
    • Base Transporter
    • Mission Transporter
    • Ninja Run
    • Walk
    • Rest
So, I waited 15 minutes and none of those powers came back, even though I could change back to the original build, and then I realized... I didn't have those powers because I never leveled up the second build! All those powers are not available at level 1. And so I started leveling up and they all started to be available with Ninja Run being the last to activate at level 4.

I then switched to a toon that had both builds leveled up to 50 and switching builds didn't suppress any powers.

So, no bug with switch builds... at least by my testing.

Not bad! What's the SS value again?
92.5 Cap at 50; which is achievable with a second slot in Super Speed.

Make sure you check your run speed with the real numbers from the Combat Attribute window and not from any of the speed buff icons under your health bar, which do not show actual final speed.

Unacceptable, shoddy, and other terms apply.
I do silly things like logging into my account and seeing if I can do the drinkpotion emote or have the scientist's smock or can access the super tailor.

I guess worst case is you just turn of walk for the geyser jumps.

(and yes, I'm ignoring the fact that there's a portal directly from FBZ to the Storm Palace since that and trains would seem to me against the spirit of the challenge).
Geysers work perfectly fine with Walk. Tested it.
  9. While I personally maxed out my Halloweening in just a few days, don't be surprised if the Devs disregard what's said in this thread and keep it running far longer than we think it should.

And the reason for that is they have access to datamining information. On the last night of Halloween, I still saw people forming ToT teams and working the Deadly Apocalypse.

While we hardcore City-ites are on almost every day and complete everything the Event has to offer in just two days... not so the casual gamer. In fact, I remember the bitter complaints when these events were originally less than two weeks long.

If the datamining shows people scooping up Halloween Costume Salvage and Badges the last days of the Event, the Devs have to be mindful of all their customers, not just us hardcore players.

Although... if the datamining does show the last week really had almost no one playing the Event, then they'd be justified in shortening it.
  10. Then save your search options (button at the bottom) so it always searches that way.

I think movement control will be more important for the slopes, and since NR appears to have the same value as SJ or IR, if it was possible with those powers, then it should be possible with NR. It's not as good as CJ, but on the other hand, CJ's high movement control and low friction may actually be detrimental to slope times because it makes it so much easier to overcompensate.
Just going down the slope accelerates you. Try it with no movement powers. Having forward speed helps get to the speed cap quicker, but if you slide down long enough, you'll hit the speed cap anyway. (This is why low level toons complained the slopes were unfair because they have a lower speed cap.)

Unless you have the course memorized and are adjusting your course in anticipation of turns coming up five seconds later, the main advantage you want on the slopes is lateral control while falling and sliding down to make instant course corrections... which is what CJ, SJ, NR, and IR give you.

    Mini Babbage?

Did you have the 4XP system set for "I want to fight Giant Monsters as dolls"?

It will now be up to BAB to animate appropriately sized GMs.
  13. I do consider auras, weapons, and power customization to be costuming. They certainly aren't powers.

While the MA didn't give us new costumes, they gave us the opportunity to dress up our own foes however we wanted with minimal unlocking opening up costume pieces that our own PCs don't have access to. Then, they gave us the ability to tint the foes.

It's only a tunnel vision attitude of narrowly defining costumes as bits of clothing or armor for our PCs that would make one think we've had no costume loving for two years.

    A funny thought

One time I did my best to dress up my MM as a Longbow operative and it worked in Recluse' Victory. Two times I wound up petless and thus, pretty defenseless, and the hero-player ignored me thinking I was actually Longbow.

Doubt that will work with some players...

I assume it would three slotted Hurdle, Sprint, and Swift. Not even considering Blessings of the Zephry et al.

    I have a scrapper standing at Valkyre about to hit 14...so I logged. I don't know...I don't KNOW!
The RunSpeed and JumpSpeed hard caps are always there regardless of how you managed to get there. Have several Kins SB you and you'll hit it rather easily. Those caps also change according to level.

The question is, by using Ninja Run, can you hit those caps without outside buffs?

It's easy to figure out, though I don't have time right now to figure it, but all speed buffs are based on buffing the base speed, which for RunSpeed and JumpSpeed and FlySpeed is 14.32 mph.

    playerslot.txt is located here: ..\City of Heroes\your_account_name\playerslot.txt
Open the properties of the file (right-click > Properties, or highlight it > File > Properties)
Check the box for "Read-only" and click apply.
I'd delete the old playerslot.txt first, since it's probably corrupted. Then reorder the toons.

I wouldn't use the 'read-only' trick unless it happens more than once.

Ummmm.... Don't most people who have Combat Jumping also take Super Jump as their travel power since they opened up the Pool anyway? Because you do know that Super Jump and Combat Jumping are also mutually exclusive, right? Super Jump wasn't intended for use in combat, and if you do use it in combat, it suppresses. Well, Ninja Run is exactly the same, only, you don't need to take Super Jump now as your travel power, leaving you free to take some other power.

Yeah, I was hoping that there would be costume set that had all the pieces in one place.

Perhaps some of our costume horses can post in a separate thread a saved .costume file (using the code tags) that can be cut and pasted using notepad into our own .costume files so we can pull up all the pieces?

The weapon/shield carrying stance while running is determined by which nodes are being used by a weapon. If only one is in use, it will be carried to the back, not in front. If both are in use, one will be in the front, the other to the back.

Since you Shield/Fire only has one weapon (the shield), he'll carry it to the back. Pulling out one of the Fire Swords may change that, but since those are power effects and not "Custom Weapons," it may not change your character's running stance.
Or try pulling out a 'temp' weapon such as the Ghost Slayer Axe or the Crey Pistol.

The scaling isn't perfect because there are too many factors involved. Both foe HP and player damage/attack scale independently with level. Low-level characters have fewer slots than high-level ones, and what they can put in those slots to increase damage is inherently weaker. (They also tend to attack less often and run out of endurance much sooner.) These combine to make the scaling diverge at the ends of the level ranges, both in terms of the actual damage/attack numbers, and in terms of realistic DPS a character can produce.
I don't expect a lowbie to outperform a 50, and they shouldn't. Even without the scaling-code, a level 1 lowbie is likely to die in a one-on-one battle with a level 1 Hellion Boss while a level 50 toon finds any level 50 Boss easy to dispatch.

I'm concerned that the damage done by a level 1 toon isn't scaled up versus an internally-level 30 purple-scaled critter. That's not my understanding of how the scaling code was supposed to have worked. Damage given is supposed to be scaled up and damage taken is supposed to be scaled down. If a level 1 toon is doing the same exact damage to a level 1 Hellion minion as to an internally-level 30 invasion-zombie, then there is no scaling at all. And that, from my understanding of how it's was supposed to be, is therefore, a bug.

Yeah, I already had them, and I forgot about them. The listing is inconsistent then in that in won't show some items you already have while greying out other items you already have.
