Premium to VIP back to Premium.

Ok, so me and my girlfriend were both like Tier 2 Premium when Freedom was released. I decided to become VIP for a month, got access to all the stuff and whatnot, now she wants to become VIP so she can try Peacebringer and get all the extra features.

She was wondering how the character slots work. I know VIP gives you 12 extra slots for character creation, but we only got 6 global unlock slots when we started playing again. She wanted to know if you make a VIP AT, like MM or Controller, or make a character with a special power set, like beam rifle or something, then once you're month was up and you go back to Premium, do you still have access to that character? Does it become locked and you just have to unlock it again? Or can you not play that character anymore because you're not VIP? And does going from VIP back to Premium reset your global unlock slots or something? Making you have to rechoose what slots you want to unlock once you go back?

There might be more questions I'm forgetting to ask but I'll post them if I remember. Any help would be appreciated!

If your account drops to premium, you lose access to anything your premium account hasn't unlocked, including characters with certain archetypes.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

Going from VIP to Premium :

All "Server slots" are locked.

All Global slots are reset, and able to be placed again (to my understanding)

Any character with a restricted Powerset or Archetype (Time Manipulation, EATs) will be locked unless it has been unlocked for you as a premium account (Either from the Paragon Rewards such as the MM or Controller ATs, or bought from the market like the EATs). One example you gave - Beam Rifle - would not be locked as it is a Purchasable set only, even VIPs have to purchase it, and as such is unlocked for both VIP and Premium play.

Ok, so if I make a character while I'm VIP that has a restricted powerset or something, like Dual Pistols, and then I drop to Premium once the sub runs out. Am I able to use one of my global slots that got refunded to unlock the character and continue playing it?

If you have access to Dual Pistols (have bought GR or just the Dual Pistols), yes. Otherwise no.

This part I think we are pretty unclear on. I'd like the devs (Zwill?) to clarify. I think you will not be able to reassign slots. In other wards, the slots you unlocked when you were premium before, will be the same slots you will have unlocked after you return to premium, with no chance to reassign.

I could be totally wrong, but no one's tried it, and I think it's best to plan on the more pessimistic scenario. That way you won't be unpleasantly surprised.

To be playable, a character needs to be unlocked for: slot, archetype and power sets. If any of those are missing, you won't have access.

For Peacebringer, being only Teir 2, you'll need to spring for the Peacebringer AT ($12, 1000 points in the store). You'll also need a slot to put them in, so figure at least a few more bucks to buy a slot (I think the minimum you can buy is two). I'm pretty sure you will be able to assign any *new* slots you have bought.

Peacebringers are their own special power set, so you don't have to worry about that one in this case.

Nope.

You can buy an unlock in the store (which is account wide; buy the mastermind unlock lets you play as many masterminds as you like). But until you have an unlock or a Tier high enough to unlock it, you can't play it.

Note that AT unlocks or power set unlocks (like Demon Summoning) are more expensive and not the same thing as buying a slot.

Note, for Epic Archetypes, you must pay to play (or unlock) - only Masterminds and Controllers can be unlocked via the Paragon Rewards system.

Is there a way to see what you previously had unlocked before becoming a VIP? I want to make an Arachnos (and keep it when I go back to premium) but I'm not sure if I had it unlocked from when I played a while back (By getting a character to lvl 24 on the villain side). I would also like to know if I had certain powersets unlocked before Freedom was launched as well, I know I had GR on my account when I used to play and stuff.

HEATs and VEATs are not unlockable via anything but PP if you're not a VIP. If it is a base archetype, it will be unlocked. If it's a base powerset, it will be unlocked. If you purchased it, it will be unlocked.

There was no way to purchase/unlock archetypes or powersets before Freedom except Going Rogue's powersets. If you had GR, you will keep GR.

Not unless you buy the license in the Paragon Market.

Epics require both you have a License to play and a native hero or villain (depending on the EAT) to create/play.

All VIPs have the license and Premium players can buy a permanent one for 1000 Paragon Points.
