Soloing as a dominator
I've never really found soloing as a dominator to be terribly hard, especially with my Earth/Earth Dominator. He manages to breeze through most missions just fine, and soloing EBs is possible with inspirations.
I really like Earth Assault for soloing because it lets you stack Holds and Stuns more easily with Seismic Smash and Fissure. Earth Control is also probably my favorite solo set because of the -def debuffs in its powers. Quicksand alone has a -25% defense debuff, making it a great opening power against big groups. When the two sets are used together, the defense debuffs in the primary make the commonly defended against damage type of the secondary hit much more accurately, increasing overall damage while adding extra control to the primary. Power Boost is like a miniature domination, which I find very useful when up against more than one boss.
Earth/Elec should be fine, as long as you keep your powers properly slotted, use inspirations, and play smart.
Dominator controls are not that far off of controllers, all the end costs and recharges are EXACTLY the same, only the durations differ and not by much.

Yes, Dominators got the Defender mez modifiers... so while they're the best redside (or overall while in Domination) there is a noticeable difference.
I've never had trouble soloing my Dominators - my only issue is that on many of them I get bored doing so. I've had a lot of fun with my Mind/Energy (Little Bunny Pew Pew) since the change to Power Push, though. My Earth/Earth (Surface Disruption) does well but much of that is related to having really big hammers rather than simply being able to go through an entire mission with the only things attacking me being the ones I ignore and let hit me.
To the OP: Yes, that mission sucks. I usually drop it, but I've gone through it a couple of times and the main idea with a Dominator - which has already been echoed repeatedly in the thread - is that if the boss(es) are standing still the whole time, you have plenty of damage (now) to kill them before they ever break free. Pop Domination right before the boss spawn, hit your AoE mez, throw a hold on the one that's not staggering, then hold the other before the AoE wears off. If there's just one boss, you shouldn't really need Domination for it, but I'll admit that the secondaries that I'm using also provide a decent bit of mitigation as well (KD on the hammers in /Earth; KB/Stun in /Energy) so I can juggle mobs if needs be until the hold recharges.
As for the secondaries, I deleted my Mind/Psi at level 41 (pre-Dom buff) because not even the old Psychic Shockwave could make having all Psi damage at 40+ worthwhile. Fire is amusing (and extremely damaging) but I wanted to try Earth Assault and the revamped Energy Assault when I made my recent Dominators, and I found that both sets work well if you like getting in there and hitting things. Anything should work reasonably well, but you need to split up slotting (I think Bunny has 4 in Dominate total, 2 acc/2 hold, at level 32, and only 2 in Mass Hypnosis; the longer duration on sleeps and confuses compared to stuns or holds makes it very easy for Mind/ to lock things down though - with Domination up I can get Mass Hypnosis to last until it recharges again against +1s).
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

My Mind/Energy solos pretty well, before even having SOs/Stamina. I even find it better for solo than teams since *some people* can't work with sleeps.
Single bosses should be easy with domination, as for two... I'd try immobilizing one and pulling the other. I think single target immobilizes may be underrated. Quick recharge, long duration, and you can use it to break line of sight with a boss while you kill the minions. They even do ok damage, if you needed an extra attack.
For instance since you example a fire dom
Dominator Controller
Char
17.9s duration 22.4s duration
Flash Fire
11.9s 14.9s
Cinders
11.9s 14.9s
Your talking at most a 4-5 second reduction, which when dominator are running domination they totally out duration a controller, and even in those lower levels you claim is such a problem, a dominator would be totally killing faster then any controller would solo. So im not to worried about losing 5 seconds on my Single target hold when it still has a base recharge of 8 seconds and i can easily stack it 3-4 times once its slotted up. Not when i am killing a mob way faster then using brawl or vet attacks which for the most part is a controllers only options for even decently fast killing at low levels.
Also in one post you claimed that when you used flashfire on your dom, you then for the next mob had to use cinders, and then for the next mob you didnt have a AOE control availible. Flashfire has a 90 second recharge. Once slotted that is even lower, and by 22 when you should have hasten 3 slotted with SOs that again is even faster. And your seriously telling me your complaining about losing DPS by bunny hopping but your working through 3 mobs solo at +1/x4 as you said fast enough that your AOE control with a 60 or so second recharge by that time isnt ready? Thats bad play? Thats substainal slow down to your playing style to fight 3 mobs within 90 seconds?
