A Bad Day at the Beach (Open RP)

The Amazing Amy Zon (well atleast that was how she was known in her comic book series) had heard the call go out on the police band radio, something about a whale. Arriving on the scene she had seen the poor creature laying on the beach and just naturally assumed that it was a call for heroes to help the dry docked animal back out to sea.

The 8 foot tall muscular catgirl looked around at the scene and sighed, "well this certainly makes a change for the books, well time to do some good...and get some free publicity..."

Amy begun striding towards the whale, "don't worry hun, we'll soon get you back out to sea, now the rest of you guys mind clearing a path so I can haul it back out..."

Clearly it wasn't going to be Claire's day. Not only was she having to negotiate for the life of an incredibly angry and now likely quite bitter psychic whale, but the Heroes were being especially confusing today. Thunking one of the fence posts into the ground she lets the other float there as she twists to the side to look at Amy with a dour look. "It is not so simple, the Whale is a psychic and has come for revenge for its fallen kin. With the two heroes here acting like children as they try to kill it and the fashion designer coming to yell with undeserved self worth, making everyone a little harder to calm down. I also think Susan has hurt her head worse than the rest of us."

She lets it sink in for a moment, before rubbing her eyes and lowering the other fence post. "I am sorry, I should not lecture. I never intended for this to get so much like a fight. I just do not like it when others are treated with less regard than a human would enjoy. If one of these two try to finish the whale, please help me pacify them for the moment Amy."

Amy paused in her stride and listened to what Claire had to say, "ooh right I got you...just thought it was some poor beached Whale..."

Amy nodded her head, "ok, guard duty it is, " she remained in her position, turning to keep an eye on the scene, sighing a little, "well so much for trying to keep myself untanned..."

She had wondered who had struck first in the conflict, surely the heroes would have tried to reason with it...well...she would have lept into action but then she isn't a clever person, she just hits things real hard...

"So, that's good enough reason to disregard the fact that you're fighting on a beach full of innocent people, and even kids, is it? That's enough reason to drop the thing into the ocean and cause a mini tidal wave is it? Nooooo... You morons just see something that looks different to you, and instead of taking a defensive course FIRST, you just drop everything and try to KILL it. Riiiight. Because that's the way heroes are meant to do things, gotcha."
"Mini tidal wave? I don't know what you're smoking, but it takes something the size of an earthquake to cause a tidal wave!" Kip shouted, "And it's psychic and psychotic, to boot! These tidal waves were made by it, sure, but it was a concscious, willful act of the beast, not us!"

"Kip, calm down..." Cathryn chirped.

"No! I'm not calming down! People usually do a decent job of fleeing the scene of a dangerous monster fight on their own! This Kheldian seems to think we should shuffle the 'powerless masses' away, as they're already fleeing, and let this lunatic have its way! Why? Because it's a whale?"

"Well, they do have bigger brains than we do..." his girlfriend murmured.

The woman crossed her arms and waited, listening to Kip as he had his rant. When he was done, she lowered them and started checking points off on armoured fingers.

"One, there were plenty of people stuck in the water and unable to get clear. Your duty should be to making sure they get to safety first, no?"

"Two, how many whales do you know of that are psychic and telekinetic? Just because something LOOKS like a whale, doesn't mean it IS, right?"

"Three, which is best? Kill something the instant it shows you any aggression? Or at least TRY to find out why it's attacking, and maybe even disable it instead? How typically American."

"Four, since when do heroes kill anyway?"

"Oh, and five, the name's Tiger White, not Kheldian, pleased to meet you."

((Dang, I was really hoping someone would take me up on that. Oh well.))

Kauruk backpedaled with a start upon the woman he'd wanted to pick up letting loose a shriek that could've made all honor to a weapons-grade sonic burst. Planted on his rear by the surprise, he could do nothing but look on in confusion as the formerly only weakly moving human was suddenly right as rain, taking off in a general direction of inland with terrific speed. He hadn't known humans could do that.

"Yeh, they run pretty fast, don't they?" he heard a familiar voice, turning to look at the approaching Khelari, who'd finally made his way back to the beach. The formerly so nice shirt hung crumpled around his shoulders, his clothes the only thing on him that retained any water.

"Honestly, I don't know why I bothered to even wear these." he remarked with a sigh in that regard, "Well, at least it's not blood for once. How you doin'?"

"Estranged, but well." the General replied, standing again. He shook again before looking out to sea, "I lost my Called, but they're expendable. Everyone's out of the water now too, so it's not much of a tragedy."

Acid chuckled. He could imagine well the thoughts of those the demons had rescued. This'd make one heck of a story to well.

"Not bad." he patted the Summoner on the shoulder, "Now then, let's get out of here before any of these 'heroes' gets wise to us. It'd really suck to get arrested on my day off..."

With a shudder, the whale's body starts to lift off the sand, before a deep, echoing psychic sound of pain emerges from it, dropping it back onto the sound with a solid, loud thud. The head wound the beam sword had given Krill Killer was a rather nasty looking one, going quite deep.

One of its eyes focused on the fence going round it, and the surface dweller who was using her mental prowess to manipulate it. A single, quiet thought rippled out of his mind towards her.

"Help... sea... rest."

The centipede pried itself off of the ground. It momentarily considered going berzerk and ripping the offending human to shreds, but then...He saw his contact.

'The nightmare is finally OVER!' The centipede thought, struggling to get up. And then a fracture formed across the entire length of his exoskeleton. '...Over as soon as I molt.' He corrected himself, slumping back onto the ground.

"Of course, you could see where chasing this tail gets you, I guess."

With a throaty chuckle, Sam rose another thirty feet or so into the air, before glancing below her once more, looking down at the man past her fluttering skirt - it might have been a smart idea to put on her coolant suit before coming out here today, but there hadn't been time to change - and she blew him a kiss. "Oh, and sugar? No peeking, okay?"
Michael laughed. "Finally, someone who doesn't want to kill me when I talk to them."

"Most of the time it is your own fault."

"Whatever," he said, and then, for the first time, realized she was flying, and he couldn't. "How should I get up there?" he whispered to Squid.

"You can teleport, you know."

"And then I fall again. Anything else?"

"Nova."

"Yeah, that would work. I was thinking of doing that, but I was wondering if I could stay human some how so..."

"Why, because you don't want me talking?"

"No!" Michael answered quickly, and then concentrated as he willed Squid to come forward, and Squid got ready to change into Nova form. With an explosion of purple Khledian energy, Michael was now in Nova form.

"Finally, it's so cramped in there," came the voice of Squid physically, it's head moving from side-to-side.

"Just go up to the flying girl," Michael's voice went into Squid's head.

"Must I?"

"Yes."

Squid sighed and he started flying upwards towards Sam, the Nova's body wriggling as he moved. When he was next to her, Squid bowed his head, saying "It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is-"

"MICHAEL! MICHAEL!"

"-Michael" Squid said rather bitterly, spitting the name out like a poison. The Kheldian cocked it's head to the side. "And your name is, miss?"

Though there was no outward change in demeanor, M221's brain finished rebooting. Freeing itself from its inferior original programming, the Aluminum Ally took a step back and analyzed the situation.

"Negative."

M221's voice was hard and flat, no artificial emotion or tone had been added to its words. It stood in the way of Amy.

"This creature has attacked the citizens of Paragon. If released to the water, it could come back again when there are not so many heroes around. It must answer for its crimes. Medical treatment should be our goal, but it must be captured by appropriate police forces. I will not allow you to assist in its escape."

"I will start communication with the PPD and arrange for its incarceration. Justice doesn't look away because it is not human."

While still standing in the way of any hero who would attempt to free Killer Krill, M221 began to liason with the PPD and animal control. They would need either a flatbed truck, or a helicopter, some psychic inhibitors or lots of tranquilizers, and an whale-ologist.

Samantha watched as the man shifted into Hulmanim form, tentacles weaving in the air as the shadow-of-memory energy form scudded toward her.

"Nice to meet you, Michael. I'm, uh, Luminescence... oh, who cares? Call me Sam. Everyone else does." Gravely, but with a twinkle in her eyes, she extended a hand toward the - frankly - butt-ugly shape in front of her. "You're much cuter when you don't have so many appendages waving around in the air, you know."

Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, letting it out slowly with a smile, trying to project her thoughts in a tight focus so that only the bonded Kheldian in the air with her would "hear".

<Oh, and I'm trying really hard not to listen to you two arguing, you know. You're not making it easy. Now, don't mind Ellie - she has a thing against ex-nicti, it's not personal. Let's go drag some people out of the water before mister blubberpuss squashes them flat, eh?>

Richie merely sat on the beach sands, looking to the one that he figured had just shifted his monster headache and giving a thumbs up along with a "Cheers, you're a star."

His next subject of his attention... frankly, he didn't want to know anymore. He'd already been smacked in the face by a psychotic psychic whale completely unprovoked in his opinion, misjudged teleporting to said whale and back and having his head violated. The least he could bring himself to do was go see is Psysan, who he thought he spotted along the way, was okay.

So, he calmly dragged himself to his feet and walked off to find her, in the process pulling out a megaphone out of Thin Air. He had a feeling he'd be needing it soon.

In a blur of red and white, a petite blonde flew down from the sky. She wore white trousers and a red T-shirt with a white cross on it, and was snapping latex gloves on as she arrived.

"Okay," she said to herself as she looked across the beach. "Triage..."

The whale, bleeding from a deep wound between the eyes, was the most obviously wounded being on the beach, although she could see a girl wearing an orange bandana in the shallow water who would need attention next.

"I'm a medical professional," she announced, approaching the whale. Although she was addressing the whale, she spoke loud enough for anybody nearby to hear. "I'm only here to help, I can heal these wounds but you have to not hurt any more people. Okay?"

She glanced around at those around her, a look that said quite clearly "Don't get in my way."

Watching the events from the top of a building sat a man wearing oversized sunglasses, a large hockey jersey, 3/4 length shorts and blue sneakers. Holding his multicoloured hair back with one hand he muttered under his breath.

"Idiots."

There was just a burble of psychic noise from the whale as his continued to try and flee without much luck. A small burst of water came from his blowhole, sending a light mist with heavier droplets down around it.

A few flashes of light came from camera phones as the now less skittish crowd went to rubbernecking mode, taking photos of the heroes and the whale.

"I apologize for my appearance, miss, but it is the only way I can stay aloft with you at this altitude. If it would please you, we could go to the ground where I could become human again." He put a slight emphasis on the word 'human'.

<"I do apologize. Michael is stubborn as a horse. He's only this way with 'attractive' Earth females. It confuses me, to say the least. And please, do not worry about my past, it is just that.">

The Warshade turned it's head back towards the water for a quick glance, then back. <"I do not see any beings in the water. Is there something else I could assist you with? If not, I'm sure Michael would like to have a conversation with you. If not, have no worries, I will deter him.">

Well at least he sounded more reasonable, even if that doesn't mean helpful. "Do not be hard headed about this. He is too heavy to be on land, if we do not move him he will die. You may feel free to arrest him once he is submerged in water, although what that will exactly entail I am unsure"

Not feeling the need to get in the way of the medic, Claire gestures towards the whale. "Feel free to do what you can, but we will be moving it." and as if to point it out, the sand between the whale and the sea starts to split apart as if pushed by an invisible rolling pin, making a trench that starts to fill up with sea water.

The blonde- a heroine known as Ibuprofen- decided to take the whale's feeble motions as assent, and reached out, a healthy green glow flowing from her hands towards the wound.

As she did so, she called out to - well, to anyone nearby. "We need water here- whales die of dehydration. Get buckets, form a line, keep the poor thing wet!"

Sam laughed heartily, and scanned the area. Pretty much zero threat to anyone nearby, as long as you count a large number of heroes contending with a whale to be safe.

"I've got no problem chatting to you, no matter what shape you are, sugar, but it might be an idea to finish dealing with the big nasty, first. I don't suppose you can think of any "yo momma" jokes that would offend a whale, can you?"

As she skimmed through the air, Sam sent a psychic torrent battering at the whale's mind. Against a human it would induce mind-numbing terror, but she had no idea how other mammals handled the emotional influx.

"I think this is where I make a joke about our main weapon being fear. Fear and surprise... or is that going to be lost on most people?"

Ibuprofen, somewhat connected to the whale by her healing powers, reeled back slightly and turned to glare at whoever was interfering with her work.

"Do you mind?!" she cried out. "This creature is grievously wounded, suffocating, terrified, and you really think you need to make things worse?"

Cocking his head to one side, Vox Doom flies over to the beach and looks up at Sam.

"What the **** do you think you're doing?"

The air around Vox begins to vibrate and warp, showing his irritation.

"Are you sure that is a good idea? The mammal is terribly hurt already after all." This statement from Squid was backed up by the shouting of the healer on the ground, and the flying man that had suddenly appeared.

"No need to get angry sir, this can be solved in an orderly manner. We just all need to freeze down."

"Cool down, Squid. It's 'cool'."

"My apologies. 'Cool' down."

Sam turned a condescending eye on Vox. "Oh, I don't know - trying to convince it to go back into the water? See, in my experience, if you'd bothered to ask before coming up here on your high horse about something, there's this little thing called an 'adrenaline rush' that mammals get when they're scared. The natural inclination is to flee. In fact, most mammals are capable of quite amazing feats of strength when they're afraid, so if that thing's not making much headway right now, perhaps it could, if given the right nudge? So why don't you shut the hell up and let me get on with my job."

Sue rolled onto her back groaning, rather damp now after having collapsed in the surf, she groggily got to her feet, “Psychic feedback… so not fun…” she mumbled to herself as she finally pulled herself together enough to look out at the scene once again, and boy had it changed while she’d been out of it.

“Ack what a terrible mess this things gotten into now” She thought to herself, “Maybe we can still solve this without an- Damn it Sam!” Sue almost growled as she sensed the psychic lance piercing towards the wounded whale. Acting fast the orange clad psychic teleported to the top of the whale, holding herself up telekinetically, arms outstretched in a protective posture as she tried her best to try and block or deflect the lance of fear Sam was projecting towards the whale.
