No wonder subs have dropped.

Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights 2, Dragon Age.

I would love to see a superhero game like those though. I don't suppose Bioware would be nice enough, unfortunately. They seem to be a bit wedded to fantasy and IPR licenses.

I'd rather see one like Mass Effect or Jade Empire, I'm not too keen on controlling a full team directly. I'd rather just give orders like in ME or just have them follow me around like in JE.

I'd play a Jade Empire or Mass Effect style MMO in an instant, as long as the story was as good as those games. They take up two of my top three games, with KOTOR at number 1 on the list

"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

I've just earned my 45 month badge. For me that's a hell of a long time on one game so that says something (to me anyway). There's not a huge amount in the game that I haven't seen or done. I'm not logging in a great deal at the moment because I need a rest from it. I'm not contemplating cancelling my subscription because I know I'd regret it very quickly. I just need a change of scenery for a while. I'm off to something completely different, Openlife - a beta on the OpenSim grid - that's a competitor to second life for those who haven't seen it yet. Don't think I'm leaving CoX though, that simply won't happen for a long time yet!

I think this post sums up the answer to most peoples concerns in this thread (and many others)
Like Calamity I have played the game for a while.

I started the game from release then left when vills was released for other things - travelling - other games etc, then returned 18 months ago and have been non stop - aside from a break in the summer....

So my point is this, the game is made of a tight knit community with many a long serving member, and people require change from time to time, so when something new comes up they will go give it a shot...or maybe they just need a break, but if other issues are an indication...those who love the game return to here after a while so these dips in "numbers" are to be expected (yes they are dwindling a little but not dramatically)

This is after all a game that has stood the test of time for over 4 years and amongst other (massively marketed) competition has still managed to keep its head above the water...imho the devs are working towards something bigger and better for us ...even with so called competition on the horizon.

Remember this though, this game isnt perfect, it never will be but the strength of an MMO lies with the community and the fact that guys on here go nuts when they find something to their dislike I take that as a positive sign ...think about it, why go nuts over something you dont care about?? so on that belief id take this game over anything else out there, ill play this game untill the last server boots me out (or the missus burns my PC )

Got 44mths my self and 13mths on my second account. Wont be leaving any time soon as I still have some stuff I want to do, but also because there is nothing else out there I enjoy playing much.

Some times I'll take a few days off (to prevent the PC burns as stryke mentioned) but wont leave the game, got some good friends on here. Alot of them are playing WAR or RotLK, but they will be back once the shine wears off as it always does.

I might get CO on one of the consoles for fun but again I wont stop playing until the servers go away. I would consider a migration to the US if I could take 2 of my toons over as they are basically who I am in this game.

Anyways ramble over. Game not dead. Carry on.

Footnote;
Can they not try better marketing, hardly see anything at all in magazines, or on TV. Have heard it before in a post not sure by whom, can't they sponsor "heroes"? Sure that would make more people aware of the game and possiblely increase the player base.

[/ QUOTE ]
Don't think the BBC explicitly takes sponsors for TV shows - so Heroes sponsorship in the UK would seem a non-starter.

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe they could arrange to give free trials away with heroes boxsets. Could probably apply that to any superhero DVD's what with Iron Man and the Hulk out now.

I'm one of the suckers who is currently playing Wrath of the L337 King. I think Death Knights stole there play style from Brutes.
I will be back to CoH soon enough though.
