No wonder subs have dropped.
It's nice to know CoX players are slightly more sane than the WoW generation. I don't care how big or mighty an expansion is, you won't find me in a 2000 strong queue waiting for it. I like the way they got into character (I'm an RP fan myself), but I think it's a tad overboard for a computer game...

Whenever I comment that the game has gone really quiet people scream at me "it's because half the people are on test playing Issue 13".
So I decided to pop on the test server and do a lil head count, and the results are as follows.....
4 people on test including me lmao.

Surely we got more than 8 players in total?
If this is the case how are the anti-DOOM brigade gonna pass this one off!

Looks like you have made a valid point, but I Have noticed that you have been shot down in flames again There really is no point in posting these kind of concerns, by reading the above posts some are very happy to play a MMO solo
Or by teaming with friends they have met over the time spent on game..
But nothing is going to change the way people enjoy the game or play the game, everyone to there own. People pay there money to enjoy the game and will play it there way i.e. solo, teaming! They will have there say in the forums as they have paid for the right, and as much as it sounds they love the game as much as anyone else, doesn't mean there wrong or right its just an opinion.
Yes I have concerns about the number of people playing the game at the moment and have lost some friends to otherside of the pond, but still have friends this side (defiant! I have come to the conclusion that the best way to judge whether the time has come to move on is with the release of i13 / i14 to see who comes back and if the population increases at that time until then, i'm here playing the game I love either solo or teaming either way is still an experience to enjoy.

Can they not try better marketing, hardly see anything at all in magazines, or on TV. Have heard it before in a post not sure by whom, can't they sponsor "heroes"? Sure that would make more people aware of the game and possiblely increase the player base.

Don't think the BBC explicitly takes sponsors for TV shows - so Heroes sponsorship in the UK would seem a non-starter.
I wonder quite what the best timing would be for a marketing campaign given the competition upon the horizon - whether it's better to try grabbing players before the competition lands or wait until after and hope to grab people who were attracted to a superpowered game by the oppositions marketing but then didn't like the game setting/mechanics/play etc...
Either way, I'd hope that we'd see something by way of marketing/advertising. And maybe a new boxset (around I15 if that's a big story issue?) and the resulting magazine reviews could help...

I tend to agree here, im not crying DoooM in any way at all but the last few months have seemed a little quieter to me, we have so far lost 8 of our sg regulars to varying reasons, this as i said before is not a doom post more of a constructive observation regarding the marketing side, now currently there is a lot of competition for ad space what with coming up to christmas and the usual november raft of console games screaming for attention for that short fix....
Now ad campaigns are at best a tricky and expensive thing, you have to vie for space and pay out of the nose for it (magazines at least) and you also have to ensure you are hitting your target audience, now NC do do this to a certain extent at comicons / memorabilia events etc but it would be nice to see some page space on mags/internet sites showing new releases etc as it seems outside of the game no one knows where the issues are up to.
For example an old sg bud of mine who left 9 months back was on the phone the other day and it took me nearly 30 minutes to reel through the changes to him, he didnt even know if the game was still running....and he plays a lot online..
So to summise I am only concerned - not about doomsaying dwindling pop - but the fact that we are now seemingly slipping into obscurity as a game, and apart from folks like myself who play this damned game to death there are peeps out there who I am sure would dive into our world, so long as someone put up a bloody signpost
((I hope this wasnt seen as a friday flame, but as a bit of observation that is only my opinion, so not meant to ruffle anyones feathers.))

Heroes is also shown on BBC3 on Sky digital, this station takes advertising and also shows Heroes a week in advance to BBC2.
So you probbly get all the superhero fans watching the BBC3 episodes to see what happens sooner, what better way to get this game out into the masses than to sponsor this show.
The reason I made my original post is to show how this game is sliding and needs a kick up the [censored].
I been playing nearly 4yrs now and still love the game, which is why I hate to see it go so quiet.
It's a multiplayer game for gods sake and for that you need players (plural not singular).
The delays with the issues hasnt helped matters either plus the launch of new games, other expansions, etc.
Maybe I need a lil break from this game just to see how much I will miss it,I have ordered Age of Conan just for giggles, time will tell.
Anyways tnx to all the intelligent posts made on this thread (the 3 above this) and I really hope NCsoft gets their [censored] in gear and start getting this game out into the masses.

I totally agree. Some form of advertising needs to come out if this game is going to survive the realase of stuff like CO/DCUO.

Errr, there's no advertising on BBC3 (or BBC4) even if you get it via Sky - they're both Freeview digital channels provided by the BBC, not satellite services.
Smallville might be a better bet for a sponsorship deal, or that superhero sitcom No Heroics.

Let me repeat: Don't think the BBC explicitly takes sponsors for TV shows - so Heroes sponsorship in the UK would seem a non-starter.
And the explicitly is only there as it's possible (note: possible) that some unofficial 'product placement' may go on.. though I'm pretty sure that the BBC aren't allowed to.
AFAIK it doesn't matter if you watch your BBC feed through terrestrial, cable, satellite, iplayer, holodeck you still shouldn't be seeing adverts/sponsorship carried by the BBC (whether BBC1, 2, 3 or 2097).
Of course should ITV, channel 5, sky or any of the other many commercial channels start carrying heroes then they may show adverts - but that ain't the beeb.

Uh, not to discourage you, enforcer - but we're talking about the EU here. US has enough already, EU is in need of new blood.
I logged on a few times Saturday and every flaming time I logged in I found myself in a the middle of a Rikti raid. On one occasion I managed to reach a mission, every other time I just logged straight out. I'm getting really fed up with all these pointless raids. It was a nice novelty for a while, now it's old and frustrating, can't even be bothered to zone to get away from them when they'll just follow me to the next zone.
Unfortunately, I agree. I wasn't aware that this was to be a Rikti Raid Week, and when the sky went dark while I was sat there roleplaying last night, the only thought that went through my head was "oh, good grief, not again." So we left Galaxy City and roleplayed in a base, where we were safe from all forms of irritating disturbance.
Really, they shouldn't have scheduled this so soon after Halloween.

OMG i find myself in an odd place i agree with you here, the raids should not have started so close to the last event they should have left them unti the new year now
Perhaps if things ever get that bad we could start a new game genre...
Fairly Big Multiplayer Online Role-Play Game. I think the market for FBMORPG could be quite a good niche to sit in
Golden-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Fire/Fire Tank
Oodja Nikabolokov - Lvl 50 SS/WP Brute
Baby-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Peacebringer
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could Chuck Norris?
Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights 2, Dragon Age.
I would love to see a superhero game like those though. I don't suppose Bioware would be nice enough, unfortunately. They seem to be a bit wedded to fantasy and IPR licenses.

I would recon some where between just before or just after whichever of the competition comes first though i would imagine you want to have a new box on the shelves as well not just advertising, there's a lot to be said for wandering into a shop and getting the item in your hand.

All other games are "competition" in that they consume time that could otherwise be put towards playing CoX. I have approximately 45 hours a week when I'm not eating, sleeping or at work and that time has to be divided up amongst the leisure activities I want to do.

True. I'm in one of my "leave COH alone for a bit so that it seems better when I come back", so right now, this game is getting trounced competition wise by Peggle Nights (or the other games I have on Steam. And after Tuesday, it's going to be L4D all the time; at least until Friday, when MK vs DC comes out and then a couple of weeks later when Prince Of Persia comes out....)
But then, at some point, I'll be back in game, soloing, duoing and trioing once more.
I'll keep funding the game though (my next 6 monthly payment being due 1 December).

we're between issues
there's a few new games/expansions arrived
Not every day can be a bright shining horizon for a game that's been out there for a while.
I can see a strategy that says "let's get all the numpties to do their stuff" and when the players are bored they come back to us and a shiny new I13"
Not sure it's what I would have picked but I'm not in charge
