  1. Interesting.

It would depend on the server, but the early villain zones like Mercy and Oakes don't have much traffic in them. Cap is the Villain version of Atlas. At least its much easier to get there now.
  2. All of the companies have issues. Some more than others. Some handle it better than others.

I have 3 Nvidia cards too. GTX 260, 8600 GT, GT 240. ATI/AMD isn't faultless either. What I am saying is, if someone was buying a new computer TODAY and used it to primarily play CoH, I would point them to nvidia.

Does that mean Nvidia is perfect? Heck no! ATI has been ahead of nvidia in vaule and performance until the 500 series when Nvidia finally caught up. (you could say 400 series, but those cards were late and hot) I would still say ATI is ahead but not as much. We'll see how things go with the 600 vs 7000.

I am not a red or green fanboy, I am a buyer who wants value, performance with the least amount of annoyance.

Anyways, to repeat: AMD can't do anything about fixing the OpenGL rendering problems if they don't have feedback from users actually having those problems. If you are having problems with getting an AMD chip to work, you need to let AMD know about the problem.

    Fire/Fire Help

I'm probably on the other end of the fire/fire spectrum then since I took every Fire Manipulation power and live on PBAoE.

Find teammates. Sonic, FF, Cold and Thermal help your survival big time. So does a tank/brute who can hold aggro.

I pump out enough damage I get warnings all the time from Siege and NS.

Hot Feet, Blazing Aura, Burn, Fire Sword Circle, Combustion, Rain of Fire and Fireball! I skipped Inferno since I hate crashing nukes and I use the pyronic power instead.

  5. Slight tangent, how about faster animation times for Propel?
  6. Trying to beat my fastest times on a TF is my Challenge.
  7. I don't know about that, If I can take tough I can use it for steadfasts without having to waste a power choice on boxing/kick. I have a couple of characters who are tight on powers and being able to use steadfasts for 1 power choice changes things.

Well, we can dream right? More slots for enhancements would cause a stampede for those. I have several who would love 1 or 2 more.

An extra 10 enhancements to fill in a tray is ok. Its a convience but I usually run out of recipe room before I run out of enhancement space. Too many lost Hammers and revolvers.
  9. We could use a few more powers for Null the Gull.

I'd like the ability to turn off temp power recipe drops.
  10. Yeah 12 more character slots!

Now we just need a bigger salvage carry.

Heck going from 10 to 20 on enhancement drops is probably more than plenty for me anyways, but 30?

I need more recipe room! I mean since we get all this crud from Gabriel.

Budget wise im looking at two options that i would like suggestions for

    1. Low budget $500 = buy this or that?
    2. High budget $1000 = buy these in this order?

Upgrading the card would seem to the best option but if it will only bring in a small return because my cpu is on the slow end then mabe upgrading the motherboard/chip would seem the way to go?

Also could i upgrade the cpu and use my existing board or is that not a wise investment.

    Thanks again
Oh my! The Stacker 830 was quite a case Anyone who uses HP or Dell would freak out by how Huge that case is.

Looks like most of your hardware is good. Just need a powerhouse video card and Mobo + Mem + CPU.

    2500K + P67 or Z68 mobo + 8GB of Ram = $470

Then look to spend about $250 on an Nvidia 560 Ti
AMD/ATI 6950 is $250 if you want to go with them.

GT 240? With your case, that is like sticking in a 1.3L 3cyl in a Ferrari. I kid, but the stacker is nice.

    Currencies

Sooner or later we will get iTrial merits since people will have a tendancy to just "farm" the fastest trial(s) and avoid the longest most annoying ones.

  14. Swan.

    Makes Manticore look short.
  15. As long as 11.3 is stable I'll probably stick with them.

One of these days ATI will get this fixed. Maybe when Bulldozer comes out.

Edit: At this point, I would probably suggest Nvidia over ATI.
  16. Nvidia 240 is a low end video card. I would be looking at a 560 or higher from nvidia or 6850 or higher from ATI.

I used a E6600 for quite awhile but its been mostly unused except for a week when I was running some memory tests with zone loading times with CoH of all things. Compared to an Intel SB 2500K the load times seemed really long (about 2x as long) and I did see lag on trials. Which I see very little of with the 2500K. Any lag I see is server side.

As to what you need to do, well you probably need to decide on a budget so you can prioritize your goals.

What I see is, you need a higher end video card and a faster better processor. I don't know what kind of PSU you have so you may need to upgrade that as well.

Speaking purely from the info so far, I would upgrade the MB, memory and CPU first.

*However, you didn't really give us much info here and PSU can matter alot since most of the newer video cards are rather power hungry
  17. I expect China to beat us to Mars.
  18. There a few places that will build you a custom rig and not overcharge too much.

You could try places like cyberpower or ibuypower.

I'm sure hyperstrike and father xmas will be in here soon.
  19. Given the recent track record, I think I'll wait a few days to see.

Maybe 11.8 will be magic, or sooner or later I'll just buy Nvidia again.
  20. I'd prefer wormhole bunching mobs tightly into one small spot so we can AoE them to death. Now, that would be control.

I hate Knockback on my Tanker. Because every time I get the pack of enemies focused on me, in a situation where I can maintain threat on all of them, some joker drops an AOE knockback and blasts them ALL away from me while I'm practically rooted via Caltrops/Glue Grenade spam, unable to pick up the swarm of enemies who are no longer paying attention to me.

    Use Knockback responsibly, kids.
That's the thing about Knockback, its fun when YOU are doing the KB but not so much when you have to deal with it.

There was someone who I teamed with who loved doing knockback with his characters and almost seemed to love being a jerk about it. So one night he was playing a scrapper and found his 2 teammates were energy blasters and we made it so that his scrapper got about 1 single target off per fight and had to run around chasing stuff. We then responded with his usual excuses that oh, KB is soooo cool! Funny, how people change their views when they are on the receiving end. He's better about it now.

Good to see M_B on this. Maybe they will fix all of the excessive KB in the Peacebringer so I can unretire mine.
  22. We can join the Jetsons on Moon Vegas.
  23. Either one of these would be good.

Personally, I would lean towards nvidia with some of the ATI driver issues we have been seeing with CoX.

If $200 is not a hard cap, I might suggest moving up to the 560 Ti.

Edit: 560 Ti is $205 on newegg.
