  1. The only person my dom had trouble with in that whole arc was Tendaji. I couldn't take that ^%#@$* down no matter what I did. I finally had to get help against him. Everyone else was easy IMO.

I think it's implied that the whole thing is a gambit by Lord Recluse and the traitors aren't really traitors.

If that's the case then all those "Rogue" Toxic Tarantulas I wasted time fighting should have counted towards the dang badge.

Thanks to Zombie_Man for the links and Katze for the info.'

I'm still kind of confused why heroes are launching the missile though. Unless it's assumed that we are launching an payload-less missle into the sea where it will only cause a small ecological disaster instead of the huge catastrophe it would cause if the villains launched it into Paragon City with its payload intact.
  3. I'd love to see some new maps for regular missions, specifically an indoor Shopping Mall map (imagine all the easter eggs War Witch could hide in there), a convention center, and maybe a large cathedral ala Notre Dame (no, this isn't a request for the CoP trial, just a map).

For outdoors I'd love to see an Amusement Park (or abandoned Amusement Park in the Rogue Isles) and a sports stadium or two. A city the size of Paragon has to have professional football, baseball, hockey and basketball teams, right? Of course basketball and hockey arenas would be indoor maps, but I could live with football and baseball stadiums. Another suggestion for an outdoor map - a golf course.

I know new maps are a ton of work, but getting new missions to run in the same old maps kind of makes the new missions seem same-old-same-old.
  4. So, I was playing around in Warburg this weekend trying to earn some nukes, and I got to wondering about the background on this zone - Where is it? Why is it populated by "rogue" Arachnos personel? What's the deal with that missle anyway?

I went to the wiki page on Warburg, but it doesn't give any background, it just talks about the missions. Did I overlook some ingame information? I have to admit, I didn't read any of the introductory dialogue, so maybe it's my fault, but is there anywhere I can read more about this zone?
  5. Or, if you're playing a villain, go to the Black Market, buy the salvage and then head to Nerva where you'll find Granny Bedlam to turn them in to. If you use a base teleporter, it will dump you out right on her island I believe.

And they don't drop in AE missions.

    Unless it's a Dev's Choice arc.

And you choose normal (non-ticket) rewards.

I thought it had been stated definitively that AE missions do not drop purple recipies no matter what.

Is everyone good for Tuesday night at 8:30 ET for a 2.5 hour session? I plan on being on at that time. Hopefully we can get a full time, it has been awhile, partly my fault, apologies, work and holidays. So if all is good, I will see the team Tuesday night.

Tuesday 8:30-11:00 PM ET is perfect for me. See you all then.

Once again, if you have a chance to run the MA Arc "The Search for Samandarun" before then, please do. And please rate it when you're finished. Thanks!
  8. Thanks to Kay for organizing this and to Task Force Girl Power. I had a blast. I was really beginning to think I was a jinx when it came to these things.
  9. Hmmmm, I kind of agree with tuter_king. When I signed up, I thought it was going to be, "Hey, here's my character's name, bio and powerset, how about coming up with what you think would be a cool alternate costume for him/her."

I'm not really interested in seeing a male, manga, villainous, or samurai version of my character, but I don't want to be a wet blanket either, so I'll play along and hope that if there is a third round, it'll be themeless again.
  10. I'm leaving on a day trip in about an hour and will probably be back sometime Saturday - late afternoon or early evening.
  11. Well, when you counter logic with your own personal emotional response, I know it's an arguement I can't win, so I will concede.

I'm just sorry to hear there's not going to be a party. I was looking forward to meeting other CoHers. Even if they were all liquored up

Make sure to attend our City of Heroes® panel on Saturday evening (7/25) from 6:30-7:30pm in room 7AB entitled "City of Heroes® - 5 Years and going strong. How to keep your MMO Alive and Kickin!"

Go there. Meet others. Go drinking. Be envied.
  13. Stable Internet, or AC? Man, that would be a tough choice for me. I loves me some AC in the summer.

Not sure what my plans are for Saturday yet. I'm going out of town tomorrow, and getting back sometime on Saturday, but I'm not sure what time.
  14. Currently: If you can't go to the con, you can spend, to use your figure, $100 on eBay for a code card, or you do without. NCSoft gets no money from the code cards in any case.

My suggestion: If you can't go to the con, you can at least try to arrange for someone to get one for you at the convention for $5. If you can't get someone to pick one up at the convention, you have to do without or buy one on eBay for, to use your figure again, $75. All the cards that go on eBay put $5 in NCSoft's pocket.

How on Earth is my suggestion WORSE than the way it works currently?

Sure, it's not as ideal as your suggestion, but it is absolutely NOT worse than that current situation in terms of getting cards into the hands of players who can't attend the convention, for a reasonable price.

As for exclusivity, if something is only distributed by the original vendor at one venue, and nowhere else, it certainly is an exclusive, regardless of whether it ends up on the secondary market or not. If a vendor initially distributes something at a single venue, but then later makes the exact same item available to anyone anywhere without changing anything about it, it is NOT an exclusive to the original venue.
  15. Do you have any accolades or set bonuses that boost your HP? You have to take enough damage to overcome the bonuses before the damage will count towards the badge. This could certainly be the problem with the Mercy fires, but I don't know about the other attempts you made.

So instead of $100 each they would cap at maybe $75.00... that's still more than I would want to pay and that money STILL wouldn't be going to the development of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I honestly don't know what they'd be going for - whatever the buyers were willing to pay, I guess. It's true NCSoft wouldn't get any of that money, but they would at least get the money for the upfront purchase of the cards, which they don't even get now when someone sells one of these on eBay, and it would still allow the cards to remain somewhat exclusive to the con.

    Going Rogue

    I'll be going fuchsia.
  18. Yeah, lots of the extras would end up on eBay, but they wouldn't be going for $100 each because some people who really wanted them would get them through friends, and there would be more to go around (6 per per person instead of 1), so the eBay supply would go up and the demand would go down, thus lowering secondary market prices significantly.
  19. I have no plans for Sunday and my level 49 BS/WP scrapper Erin Brand really wants that armor, so please count me in.
  20. Just a thought, and one that will likely be shot down for a number of reasons, but what about this:

Each player who attends SDCC (or PAX, or HeroCon) gets a free costume code card. Additionally, they have the option of purchasing up to five(?) more code cards at a price of $5 each.

That way, NCSoft gets to reward players who attend SDCC (or PAX, or HeroCon) with a freebie, and those who can't attend could make arrangements with in-game friends, or SG/VGmates to get a code for themselves, and as a bonus NCSoft puts a little extra cash in their development or convention budget.
  21. Somebody petitioned* my character Bee-yotch and her name got genericked because of it. I'm preety sure primetime network shows regularly usethe word [censored] these days, as do PG-13 movies, but Bee-yotch was too terrible to be allowed as a character name. And it's not like I picked it just to be controversial - she was a civilian who got screwed by heroes in Paragon City, so she became a bee-themed villain to, as her bio said, "show the heroes what a Bee-yotch, she could be."

I really enjoyed that character and played her every few days before that. Now that she is named Anna-Phylactic, I think I have played her twice in the last two months. I knew the name might get genericked if it got reported, but that doesn't make me any less bitter that someone "tattled" on me. Or at least I assume that's what happened. I guess I might have been unbelievably unlucky and run past a GM or Dev in-game while on that character and they decided to take action. But I doubt it.

I've heard good things about the arc WWW, so maybe I will give it a go tonight. Is it able to be played solo?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
It's just as expensive to attend for me, as it would be for you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

C'mon now. Yes, anyone who wants to attend Comicon as a fan, pays $X for a pass (I can't even recall what a four day adult pass costs anymore - $75?).

Beyond that, someone who lives in San Diego maybe pays to park or take a cab/bus/train to the CC each day. On the other hand, someone who lives in New York has to pay hundreds of dollars to drive, fly, train, whatever to California, and then pay hundreds more dollars to stay in a hotel for four or five nights. Not even close to equal.

If players who lived in New York, Atlanta, London or Sydney could simply pay for a four day pass to SDCC and show proof of payment to NCSoft to get the goody without actually attending the con, then your arguement would hold water. But that's not the way it works, so for you to say it costs you as much to attend SDCC as it does me, or anyone else on the east coast or outside of North America is just downright disingenuous.

Have NCSoft set up a booth at multiple east coast shows every year? No that's probably not financially feasible. Pay to fly one NCSoft PR person to NY Comicon, Dragon*Con, or Wizard World Chicago and put them up in a hotel for a night or two each year so they can host a panel, talk about the game, answer questions and meet with fans, and during or after which players of the game could be given the costume code goodies? Should be very feasible IMO.

SDCC may be the biggest con of its kind and people from all over the world come to it, but a LOT of people who attend these other cons DON'T go to San Diego, so combined, NCSoft is probably missing out on reaching as many people by not sending someone to these cons as they are reaching by going to SDCC.
  23. For TF and SF, and even some dev-created story arcs, I usually go to the CoHwiki and read the story afterward. I would love to be able to read along as we're running the missions, but I don't want to cause anyone any additional stress by asking to go slower.

As for MA, I would love it if people always read what I wrote, because I try to make the story humorous, or intriguing, or in some way add to the otherwise repetative run-run-run, punch-blast-stab, click-click-click nature of all missions. But I know not all people will read the story, and some will even rate you down for a wordy arc, so I don't worry too much about it.
  24. Zek, I think the problem people have with the codes is that of the 3 that have been given out or announced, they were/will be ALL available only in the Pacific time zone. So yeah, if you wanted more than one of these codes and you lived in, say, L.A., you'd have to pay to drive to and attend SDCC and HeroCon, and it would maybe cost you several hundred to a thousand dollars to get four of the five of them. If you live in NYC, or worse yet, Sydney, it would probably cost you that much to get ONE of them.

If the 3 codes announced, or already in exsistence, had been given out in say, San Diego, San Jose (HeroCon), New York, Chicago, and Atlanta, instead of San Diego, San Jose, Seattle, San Diego and San Jose, I think there would be a lot less sour grapes about the whole thing; or at least a lot les justifiable sour grapes. Aside from the non-North American players who would still pretty much be hosed.

Don't get me wrong, I like that these are exclusive items that reward people who attend the convetions, and I'm very lucky to have two of these codes so far, and to be getting another one in October, but I'm the exception to the rule as east coasters go - single and able to budget to regularly attend west coast conventions. However, if these codes been given out instead in say Pittsburgh, NYC and Atlanta the last two years, I'd probably have gotten all five while spending less than what I will have spent getting three of them, and it's a safe bet there'd be a fair amount of grief coming from the west coast.

My point is, it's not so much that THIS code is being given out on the west coast, it's that ALL the codes have been, or will be, given out on the west coast.
