  1. Maybe the thought was that new heroes feel like they are indestructible, but more experienced ones realize they are not?
  2. A question I don't think I've seen asked/answered yet:

If I have a character(s) parked in the Outbreak or Breakout tutorials, what happens to them when those tutorials cease to exist?

We hope that this change will encourage people to purchase only the days they will actually be attending, leaving additional badges for others who want to attend Comic-Con.
Unbelievable. They have actually figured out a way to raise prices and pass it off as a benefit to the people buying badges.

The problem with this is - they don't let you pick up your one day badges early. As a result, if you only want to attend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you have to get in a ridiculously long line every morning to get that day's badge. I'm sure a lot of people who are not going all four days will continue to buy four day badges to avoid this PITA.

Not trying to be snarky, but you also used "effected," when you should have used "affected."

Effect is a noun while affect is a verb.
  5. Yeah, I don't really have a legitimate reason for changing it other than aesthetics, so I'll let it go.
  6. Is there a way to change the name of your account? Not your in-game global, but the actual account name you log in with?

If it makes any difference, this is the second account under my master account.
  7. The footnote to the New Auras entry on the list of updates says, "These auras are normally available at level 30 for characters that have completed the appropriate mission to unlock it."

Does that mean that any character who has unlocked Auras has access to things like Binary and Electric Patch, or do we still need to "buy" these?

What about the new chest symbols and costume change emotes - will we have to run trials to "buy" those with the new merits?

And if I don't want to spend them on certain things, I will never get those things, unlike the Vets who came before me who got those rewards without having to use their Reward Tokens.

I mean say what you will about some of the Vet Rewards, but they have all been useful to some extent.

Look at it this way. You live in a city where every three months the city council lowers the tax rate of everyone who lives in the city by 1/10 of a percent. You've lived there for seven years and therefore your taxes have gone down 2.8%.

At then end of this seven years the council changes their policy and decides to instead send out coupons every month to everyone in the city. You can use these coupons to get free meals, or you can use them to lower your taxes, up to a total of 2.8%. Now, the people who already have a 2.8% tax break can get the free meals, but newer residents have to decide between getting a tax break or getting a free meal.

All I'm saying is, if the new people want to use their coupons for free meals, let them still get the 0.1% tax break every three months like the older residents did.

Now, it sounds like the Vet rewards will be separate from the Paragon Points system, so this all might be moot.

I don't either. In fact I'm all for it. What I'm asking for is that if someone else doesn't mind waiting 21 months (or whatever) to get that Samurai Armor, they have the option of doing so and getting it anyway so they can spend their Paragon Points on something else.
  11. So the Meet and Greet is a ticketed event this year? And it's a joint M&G with the Guild Wars folks like the one in NYC last fall and Boston this spring?

    That's... interesting.

OK, I'll wait until the new system is in place and then I'll suggest ways to change to it.

And then I'll read through all the subsequent posts that say it's a waste of development time to revisit something they've already finished.

If that's for two people, $1100 isn't that bad. I'm flying out from PA and my flight alone is like $380. Then there's the $200+ per night hotel room for 5 nights...

Did you get tickets to the con?

On the other hand, on the VIP server, I worry that (A) teammates will not tolerate any casual attitudes or gameplay errors: after all, they are paying to be there, and/or (B) the only teams will be level 50s grinding out the latest and greatest Trials for the Incarnate powers.

Neither of these options falls into the "fun" category for me.

    Are these legitimate concerns?
IMO, no, they are not legitimate concerns. There will still be global channels on the non-VIP servers, and they will work the same way they do now, so you'll have plenty of opportunity to team with experienced people who are committed to the game through them.

As for the VIP server - people who subscribe to this game for the first time tomorrow will have access to the VIP Server, so it will not be populated only by 5, 6, or 7 year Vets - there will be plenty of newbies on it too. Anyone who does not tolerate mistakes or casual gameplay in the future is probably someone who wouldn't tolerate it now because they are paying for access to any server they're on today.
  17. Devs:

Please do not stop the automatic once/three months rewarding of Veteran Rewards and Badges when COH: Freedom goes live. ETA: I am not asking that you keep adding these beyond 84 or 87 months or whatever.

I believe you said that these will still be available for purchase using the Paragon Points we aquire each month, but that is not the same as earning them based soley on time spent subscribed. Since Paragon Points will be usable to purchase things other than Vet Rewards/Badges, this will penalize anyone who is below whatever the eventual Vet reward cap is.

Therefore, I would suggest that the vet reward system remain in place, exactly as it is now with the additional option of buying rewards early. That way if I want something immediately, like the Auction House remote access power, I have the option of spending Paragon Points to buy it early, but if I don't mind waiting for the 45 month Freespec, I'll still eventually get it, like all the current 45 month vets did, without having to "buy" it.

But if you want them right away, then yes, you would need to spend money to buy more Paragon Points.
I think you misunderstood me. I know I'll get 400 free Paragon Points each month and that I can use those points to purchase the Vet rewards badges, but even if I don't spend real money to buy more PP, I'm still being penalized because I have to "spend" the free points to "buy" Vet rewards/badges while the vets who are ahead of me don't/didn't.

Therefore, an 84 month vet will (as far as I know) get the same 400 points per month as me, but s/he has the advantage of not having to spend them on Vet rewards to have those Vet rewards.

Now, if the Vet reward system remained in place as is - automatically granting new rewards every three months, and it just stopped when you reached 84 months, this would be fair because then I'd only have to spend my PP on these rewards if I wanted them early, but otherwise I'd get them automatically, and for "free" like everyone before me.

The only thing I don't like about this idea is that it penalizes players who are under the cap for Vet rewards. I will be a 42 month vet on July 2nd. If they stop the Vet badges/rewards at 84 and they stop giving them out to vets automatically, that will mean that I have to spend Paragon Points on something that was previously free.

Yes, it'll be nice to pick and choose what I want and "buy" rewards in advance, but I think the system of earning Vet rewards/badges automatically, and for free, should remain in place indefinitely.

    Best of MST3K?

Some of my all-time favorites are actually the "Shorts." There was one about going to the county fair, one about proper hygiene, etc. Those are hilarious.

I also have fond memories of the Robot Monster episode, but I don't know if they ever released that one on DVD.

    Yeah, total DOOM.
Unless they designate Virtue as the VIP server, or they allow me to transfer all my characters, and their SG/VGs to the VIP server, this does very little for me.
