Quote:I have the Mu Mastery version of Power Sink on a Dom, and if I fire it off in a crowd I get a huge End boost. I would assume the APP version works similarly. Both, but the base numbers coming back to you are so small that enhanced they are still small.
*edit
I dont know about power sink specifically, but my powers that transfer end back do show enhancements working.
The electric blast powers that say they transfer end to you (like lightning bolt and charged bolts) don't ever seem to give me any kind of end boost though. Or if they do, it's not enough to even overcome using them. -
Thanks Draggyn, that helps a lot. I'm also considering making an Ice/Storm corruptor or a Storm/Ice defender at some point, so I will definitely give your Storm guide a read.
Good point about Air Superiority; this character was originally made before I'd even earned the first Vet attack power, and now I have two, so I can definitely dump AS. I'll probably use the free slot to pick up Hasten at some point.
I didn't know about the Slow thing, that'll help.
Does slotting Power Sink for End Mod increase the amount of End it drains as well as the amount it transfers to you, or only the amount it drains? -
Last night I threw three candy canes on the market at 13 inf each just to see what would happen. First two sold for 5-million each, and the third sold for 2-million. I suspect that the supply will quickly ramp up to meet the demand though, if it hasn't already.

I have a lvl 34 Elect/Storm corruptor that I was hoping for some advice on, but there are no guides on this combo, and as far as I've seen, there aren't even any threads on it. Is it so bad that no one plays it?
I need to respect the character into inherent fitness, so I'm looking for build advice. I've never used Mids Hero builder, so I don't have a sample build from that, but here's what I'm thinking so far:
1 - Charged Bolts
1 - Gale
2 - Lightning Bolt
4 - Air Superiority
6 - Snow Storm
8 - Aim
10 - Steamy Mist
12 - Ball Lightning
14 - Short Circuit
16 - Freezing Rain
18 - Tesla Cage
20 - O2 Boost
22 - Flight
24 - Hurricane
26 - Voltaic Sentinel
28 - Thunder Clap
30 - Hover
32 - Thunderous Blast
35 - Tornado
38 - Lightning Storm
41 - Power Build Up, or Thunder Strike
44 - Temporary Invulnerability, or Charged Armor
47 - Total Focus, or Power Sink
49 - Force of Nature, or Assault
I have no idea on slotting just yet. Does it make sense to use a slot for End Mod in any of the electrical powers other than ones like Short Circuit or Power Sink?
Any other advice? I know I haven't given you much to go on, so thanks for any advice. -
Never read the book, but read a bit about it on wikipedia. If you want to do the film like the book, but still give it urgency, forego the interview angle and instead go with "found footage" ala Blair Witch or Cloverfield, or base it on the discovery of a journal.
The way they are describing the movie now, it sounds like it's going to be another run of the mill zombie flick. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily, but it sounds like the book was a departure from that. -
Other than the fact that it's ice, and it never melts.
What I mean is, whenever I open the Invention Salvage category on the WW/BM interface, NM Ice is always at the top of the list. And whenever I go to a store to sell stuff, NM Ice is always by itself at the bottom of the list - it's not grouped with the other common arcane slavage in the Store interface.
Is this just a quirk, or is there a reason it happens? I looked on the wiki and it doesn't say anything about NM Ice following some sort of special rules or anything. Just curious. -
Pass. Their non-unique naming system was the primary reason I never even tried this game's first main competitor. I may complain that I can't get certain names I want, but when I do score a cool name, I like knowing that I am the only person with that name (on that server).

If we're talking any comics powers and not just CoX powers, my list, in no particular order is:
∙ Unfailing teleportation to any other point on Earth; or flight.
∙ Invisibility coupled with intangibility; or shape changing.
∙ Superman-level invulnerability.
∙ The ability to cure any disease, or heal any injury in others.
Super strength could be fun, but it's not near the top of my list. Same with mind-control - I think if I had the ability to control other people's minds, it would corrupt me pretty quickly. -
I agree that I don't think they'll wait too long after doing away with trial accounts to launch Freedom, but I don't see them launching right before a 3-day weekend (Labor Day) in the US.
So my guess is a launch date of either September 6 or September 8, subject to a pushback depending on what they find in Beta.
Then again, they are announcing some new program in the coming weeks, and if that's something that will replace Trial accounts and the Refer a Friend program, then they could take much longer to launch Freedom. -
Quote:Sure she does. It's like Spider-Man. She has the proportionate strength of a plant. (Which are actually pretty badass if you wait around long enough.
)
This literally made me laugh out loud.
Then it made me remember the damn weeds tearing up my sidewalk and I shook my fist in anger (but not literally). -
I changed my global name on my first account because it was orginally named after my first character who only lasted about three days. I don't think I ever changed the global on my second account, and I can't remember how to.
I think I've only ever changed the name of one character, and oddly it was my second ever character. He was a grav/kin controller and his original name was Gravimetric Man. I decided to rewrite his powers to deal with time instead of gravity, and since he was already level 25 or so, I renamed him instead of rerolling him. His new name is Dr. Time.
I've never changed my own name, and it's pretty easy to pronounce unless you are under 5 years old and have trouble with the letter "R". However, people often misspell my first name since there are two commonly accepted spellings. Also, my last name is often used as a first name, so lots of people I meet often accidentally refere to me by my last name, particularly people I talk to on the phone. -
Maybe they're sad Double XP weekend is over.
Ba-dum-bum! -
Oddly I recall just the opposite happening to me. I took a character to 30+ without doing the Cape mission because he would never wear a cape. When I went to do the Aura mission, Kalinda (or Burke, I forget who) forced me to do the Cape mission first.

Quote:That's how I felt about Animal Farm's inclusion on the list as well.I don't really think of Watership Down as fantasy or sci-fi...
And my previous post was not intended as an indictment of the WD movie, just to say that the novel is even better. Not in the same league by a long shot, but I feel the same way about Jurassic Park - a fun, and mostly faithful movie, but much better on the written page. -
A few thoughts:
On lens flares - they didn't bother me either. In fact, like a previous poster mentioned, I didn't even notice them. It was the same with the shakey-cam in Blair Witch Project. Now I was bothered a bit by the shakey-cam in Cloverfield, but I think it was much more pronounced in that movie.
On money in the Star Trek future - In "First Contact" the Lily character says to Picard, "Oh, what, now you're going to tell me that money doesn't exist in the future?" To which Picard replies, "Well, it doesn't. We don't work for material gain, but rather to better ourselves." I'm paraphrasing of course, and I guess it could be argued that money still existed in the Pike era.
On Kirk's rapid promotion - There have been lots of arguements about how it's not completely unprecendented and how it could make sense from a certain point of view, but the simple fact of the matter is, it was totally unnecessary. As I said in an earlier post, just give Kirk the position of XO or something at the end of the first movie, and then make him Captain (in rank as well as title) in the second movie. You could even include a prologue in the second movie that shows how he achieved command if you want.
Somebody brought up Star Wars, but for all of Luke Skywalker's heroism at the end of "A New Hope," he wasn't declared a Jedi Master and given command of a Rebel Alliance star ship. In "Empire Strikes Back," he's shown to be a captain, and the leader of Rogue Squadron (I think), but ESB takes place a couple years after ANH, so he had time to earn that position. And they could've easily done the same with Kirk instead of that insta-promotion tomfoolery. -
Thank goodness my credit cards are paid off. I see a large outflow of money in my future.

Quote:I haven't gone into the VIP Beta yet, but your list above confuses me.The various items are of varying cost, capacity, and maximum number purchasable. I can't log in from work, so this is from memory:
Enhancement Trays (10 extra) - 1600 points/$20, Max 2
Salvage (10 extra) - 800 points/$10, Max 10
Recipes (5 extra) - 800 points/$10, Max 6
Vault (5 extra) - 800 points/$10, Max 6
Auction House (5 extra) - 800 points/$10, Max 6
All purchases are account-wide.
Recipes for example. Do you mean that for 800 points (or by spending $10 to purchase 800 points) I can get five additional recipe slots? The "Max 6" is what confuses me. I can't imagine they would allow us to buy this six time for the ability to carry an extra 30 recipes per character, account-wide.
Does Max 6 mean that each additional recipe slot is 160 points and you can spend 960 points to get a maximum of 6 extra slots? -
Double XP for me. Beta testing is too much like work as far as I'm concerned.

Quote:By the Black Rabbit of Inlè, Watership Down is one of my all-time favorite novels. Perhaps right behind To Kill A Mockingbird. And trust me, the animated movie cannot hold a candle to the book.Y'know, I've never read that book, but the movie is forever seered into my brain right next to the word awesome.
That'll probably backfire though when I get old; "Man that was totally... bzzzt... Watership Down!"
Anyways, Bigwig FTW!
Sadly, I had stopped paying attention to the NPR list near the bottom and didn't even realize WD was on it. -
A few thoughts:
1) IMO they should have ended Star Trek with Pike as captain of the Enterprise and Kirk et. al. assigned to the ship in some capacity. Kirk should NOT have been made captain. Who cares what John Q. Public wants? It was the last five minutes of the movie. When the new movie comes out, have it set 3, 4, 5 years after the first one with Kirk NOW in charge of the Enterprise. Still a stretch, but more believable if you ask me.
2) They should skip using Khan in this movie. If they want to use him, save him for the third one. Write a new story where a ship other than the Enterprise finds the Botany Bay and Khan succeeds in taking over that ship. Maybe he heads back to Earth, taking the fleet by surprise and destroying and/or disabling most of it through some plot device. He razes Starfleet HQ and declares himself Emperor of Earth, and it's up to Kirk and the Enterprise to rescue the people of Earth and defeat Khan and his followers. I'm sure a good writer could think of a better story, but the important thing is, do something new and different with the character.
3) I liked the pre-Voyager era Borg, but I hope they don't use them in this new timeline. However, if they do, they could weaken them and easily explain the change. There were 70-80 years between the TOS era and the TNG era, right? That's 70-80 years of the Borg constantly assimilating new races and their technology. Without that 70-80 years of technological advancement, it's easy to make a case for the TOS Borg to be more in like power-wise with TOS Starfleet. I didn't pay much attention to Enterprise, so I don't know if they ever played the Borg card or not, but if they didn't, you could even say that during the Enterprise era, the Borg were just getting started. If they are absorbing and adapting the technology of other races it's not like they have to be a thousands of years old threat to be at the power level we see them in TNG. -

"The Creature from Krogarr" was nothing but a thinly-veiled rip-off of Harlan Ellison's far superior short story, "Clean-Up on Aisle 8: The Monster from the A&P."

Quote:If anyone has one of these, in fairly good shape, they'd be willing to sell me, please send me a PM.I haven't seen the Blue Statesman symbol shirt in ages, nor have I seen the Maroon (?) Arachnos symbol shirt. I think the last time I saw them was at either a HeroCon or one of the early M&G's in either Austin or Milipitas.
They may have a few still around somewhere that might be given out at M&G's or similar, but I don't think they've had any of those printed since the initial runs. -
Thanks. I did a search earlier and when the EU web address loaded I assumed I was out of luck, but I may try buying those.
