Teleport needs to be slotted with some EndRedux and Range, but yes once you do you can teleport like mad provided you have clear spaces to TP to. Long distance travel it's faster than super speed, or medium distance or tricky terrain about as fast as Super Speed.

The disadvantage is that over short distances it's a pain to aim and TP. TP is much slower for short hops than say Combat Jumping, Fly/Hover, etc. Forget caves.

To expand on this, you can run many travel powers at the same time. Running Hover (or Fly) and TPing around you can TP into mid air and just hang there. You'll never fall (unless hit by -Fly or similar) and you'll never have to worry about server lag when you TP. Hover also gives you "short range tactical maneuvering" that TP lacks.

The disadvantage is that it soaks up a second pool power which arguably you could have been better used for other things.

This is pretty much what happened that time we had 6 masterminds on a team, and ended up on a narrow cave mish. Three people quit immediately afterwards because they couldn't even get to the enemies.

Here I think it's the mobility of Combat Jumping while fighting, and for Def based toons the +Def Combat Jumping gives.

Ranged toons can "hover at range" and use their attacks, while avoiding melee attacks from enemies.

I'm not affected by this (I have only one account), but I do feel bad especially for folks who bought North American accounts to play on populated servers.

If there's any way to swing this (I expect NC Soft is heavily involved), I'd urge you to do so. ("You" plural, as in Paragon Studios.) I think it would be a nice bone to toss to Euro accounts after a bit of the Euro folks feeling marginalized for a while. Some limits would be fine, such as being available for a limited time, US to Euro only, and a nominal fee.

While I can see that NC Soft might not be eager to close accounts, I think they might be interested in customer service and fairness, and I think this falls squarely in that realm. Both NC Soft and Paragon Studios should be interested in making their longest time and most dedicated fans happy. (And who else would have two accounts just so they can play?)

Buy It Nao = cash in my pocket.
  6. Personally I think everyone who is new should start with flight. It's the easiest travel power, just point and shoot.

Even for melee toons: my first tanker is a flier. Air Superiority is a great attack, and it's so nice while I'm pounding on someone who flies away... I just fly right after. It's SO convenient on my melee toons I actually try to work into to concept now. No one is ever out of my melee range.

Plus arial battles don't last long with Air Sup-- usually one hit and they hit the deck right away.

My level 50 has got level 14 (or so, but I think 14) recipes while on, for example, Synapse or Positron Task Force (actually don't remember which one). Exemplared while on a TF may work a bit differently.

A lot but not as much as you think. First, start with the normal Single Origin Enhancements from the store (Grandville or Rikti War Zone). Then hit the Dom forums here and ask around. See how your character plays, and decide on a plan. Then you can start pricing stuff.

In the meantime, you'll be fine with just regular SO's.

-What and where should I be running?
My advice is to go rogue and then start hitting as many TFs and SFs as you can. (If you don't have Going Rogue, get it.) While tips are nice, you can probably earn more merits by doing TFs and SFs and then converting the reward merits into Hero or Villain Merits. This costs 20 million a pop, but after doing enough TFs and SFs you should have plenty of cash.

NOTE: switching to Rogue or Vigilante with Hero/Villain Merits will cause you to LOSE those merits. Make sure to spend any H/V Merits first.

Also, after you buy Going Rogue, level up a toon in Praetoria, it's fun.

This. Build both. I like to play my Fort with Follow Up and (so far) Dart Burst, Lunge and Strike, so my Fort is a combo build, really. But if you're wavering between Widow and Fort, there's no reason not to have each in the same character.
  10. Welcome aboard! Don't know what else to say. Joining a global channel is a good idea, but I think they are full at the moment. Meantime, pick up groups shouldn't be too hard to get in Atlas Park and Praetoria.

And you can also look me up if you have questions or need help: @gameboy1234
  11. I expect "don't go near the floor" might help too.
  12. Besides "new" I'm still interested in customization options. Today, new looks for ninjas.

Cyber ninja is a concept I like a lot.

    Some modern ninja

  13. We've got a thread stickied at the top of these forums for new mastermind primaries, you should post those ninja pictures in that thread, they're pretty sweet.

  15. Most TFs are fine. Biggest problems I have:

    1. Speed TFs. Robots never follow as fast as I can move. I usually lose at some, sometimes I lose them all.

    2. Battle Maiden's blue patches of doom on the Apex TF. These things will kill a pet faster than you can pull them out of it. I usually just end up resummoning the Assault Bot for his -Regen and going with just that one.

If you slot it in the grave knights, then each grave knight has a chance to proc. With two pets you effectively double the chance to proc. If you slot it yourself, then you can only proc with the one power you slot it in.

This is actually a bit of a good point. UI design and documentation are important and go hand in hand. I haven't played the Lambda sector map yet, but if there aren't clear clues to what the powers do then some should be added.

    1. There should be a special Icon design on the power that indicates it is tradable.

    2. There should be a note on the description that the power is tradable. We already have yellow, orange, blue and red text in mission descriptions. I vote for some bright green text on the description that says "This power is tradable."

    3. A note on the pop-up help too. "Acid Molecule [Tradable]" is how I would do it.

Make it as obvious as possible. Folks need several hints how game mechanics work to ensure that they'll notice a new mechanic (we have had no tradable powers, that I can recall). An even better design is to have a short intro mission where players are introduced to the idea of a tradable temp power, so they'll recognize the concept when it comes up in the TF.

  19. To be fair to Beastyle, a lot of personnel have shifted or left since i13. I assume that the new crew feels it has to come up to speed on the issues. Yes, I'm sorry, even bitter, that we weren't listened to 7 issues ago, when all this could have been prevented. But I'm willing to give the new folks feedback too and see what happens.

This, and Virtue and Freedom often go "into the red" or are locked altogether. I tried them and while definitely populated they were a bit laggy for me.

The server list when you log in is sorted from least loaded to most loaded, except that the server you chose most recently will be listed first. This means that you can see what servers are listed just above Virtue and Freedom and be reasonably assured that those are high pop but-not-too-high for your play times.

Check out Freedom and Virtue, sure, but be aware that there are downsides to a high pop server.

Starting out in Praetoria is great idea. I do love the story lines and the higher production values of the missions. There's much more variety.

However, Praetorian characters can't unlock the Epic archetypes--Widows, Soldiers, Peacebringers and Warshades. So you might want to start some hero/villains too. Note that these unlocks are account wide so you can start heroes or villains on any server and then make the Epic on a different server... handy if you decide that one server is not for you.

Regardless, stop by the forum for the server you try out (server forums here on these boards), say "Hi" and ask about the global channels to join. These are your best tools for meeting people and getting teams. You'll be glad you did.

    Welcome back and good luck!
  22. I went Nerve myself, at least for now. With Power Boost it gets me to the soft cap. Nerve was also a sizeable increase in Acc for the Drones and Prot bots too, as I slot them for more than just Dam/Acc.

Don't forget that Musculature boosts all of your pets' damage. That's more than three powers, imo. Still, it only gives like +20% max after the ED cap? That's less than one small red. It's one small all the time, but that didn't seem that big of a deal to me. Anyone else?

Cardiac and Nerve I haven't really thought about. I personally have enough End (I got a lot of +Rec in my IO sets.) Recharge on Bots/FF seems dubious to me. There's very little need for recharge that I can think of in my build.

Sell everything that has a buyer for 1. Destroy everything that doesn't have a buyer. I don't even bother with selling to vendors anymore.

The only exception is Recipes that are selling for more than about 10k or so. Check the price of the Enhancement it makes. If it's profitable (usually selling for 5 mill or more if there's rare salvage involved), craft it and sell it.

You can save the Rare salvage if you like, sometimes you do need that stuff, but you're basically just trading the 3 mill you would have sold it for for the 3 mill you have to buy it for. You'll have more cash on hand to buy the one you need if you sell all the salvage you have.

I doubt the devs would do an animated Flash app like that, although if you can scare up an additional 3,375,000 subscribers for CoH I'm sure the devs would have no problems making those kinds of investments. Right now fancy-schmancy web apps are pretty much on the bottom of my personal to-do list for the devs.

I thought they had released some static numbers at one point recently, maybe around Going Rogue. Does anyone know what the breakdowns were?
