Quote:It was fun and all vaporizing the mobs, but by the end of the second Tip mission it was getting old. I can imagine what it was like for the other.
Tips are just regular missions. You can set the difficulty up to +4 or more if you want to experience Trial-like-difficulty. I'm going to guess that the devs are not going to be giving out threads or astral merits for Tips, arcs, or radio mishes regardless of difficulty. -
Quote:I was looking into energy, but the knockback component kind of tripped me up. I'm not exactly sure how to utilize that.
Knock back is damage mitigation. Stuff flying backwards and laying on the ground isn't attacking you or doing damage. Like blasters, NPCs also tend to do more damage in melee than at range, so if you knock them away from you you'll decrease their damage output.
Teaming with knockback can be difficult. You should watch were and how you KB various folks, esp if there's a melee AT on your team beating on the baddie. Try to knock stuff into nearby walls or other objects so it doesn't fly as far. Don't KB and scatter tight groupings of NPCs because you'll dramatically decrease the damage of any AoE. Go for folks at the edges of combat that no one is attacking, knock down runners, etc. It's just mostly about common sense and courtesy. It's also not a huge deal if you occasionally mess up and send stuff flying. -
The way you're "supposed" to do it is use the LFG dialog. Open that (it's next to Team and League on your chat menu) and add yourself to the queue. Theoretically, that should add you to a BAF within three minutes.
Realistically, everyone is making pre-formed Leagues and then joining the queue, which kills the chances of a single person getting on the team. So what you want to do is get on your server global channels so you can learn when folks are forming up, and then head to RWZ or Pocket D as appropriate to join the team. -

Actually I've been having odd problems too.
1. Keymappings don't stay put. Go to Menu->Options->Key Mapping. Change a few things around, but they might not stay put after I log. Really odd.
2. In keymappings, my \ (backslash) key no longer corresponds to \. If I try to set the Menu to \, I see ] displayed instead. It works: in game, it displays the menu when I press \, but if I go to key mappings it still shows ]. ] maps to [, and [ doesn't map to anything at all, it's ignored. Weird, weird. -
Quote:[/FONT] consider Times New Roman (no bold, or italics)... In size 3, it's even a little easier to read (standard size is a mite smaller than the board's standard font).
New Times Roman was developed as a newpaper font. As such, it's kinda small and packed together. The idea was to cram as many words as possible into a small space to reduce the printing costs of the newpaper. So, yes generally you have to bump up the size a bit.
You might consider a different serif font instead of Times Roman, like Georgia, which is naturally closer to "normal" size. -
Hmm, let's see if I understand:
1. Scrappers too easy.
2. Want something more challenging.
3. Not too hard though.
As for "care about the character," I think that's up to you. I went through several power sets when I first started until I found a combination of powers and character concept that worked for me.
Personally, I think a controller or a dominator would be good. Not too much "I win", but strong enough win with effort. The new power set Electricity Controll would be fun to try out, it seems debilitating in the right hands.
A mastermind would also be a good choice. Masterminds can be played on easy mode (let the pets do all the work). But they work best when you're actively healing, debuffing, and controlling your pets. The new Demon Summoning, with a Dark Miasma or Thermal secondary (both new or improved recently) seems like a good choice. -
Do you need to be level 50 for the new incarnate trials?
And do you suffer a -4 level debuf if you are not 50 or not an incarnate? -

1. Blue text is hard to read. Please remove your formatting and use the forum default. Thanks.
2. I'm not sure what you are saying. I hope you are not messing up because you are role-playing your character "has amnesia."
3. I found the rooms in the Lambda TF also hard to navigate. I spent most of my time dead because the team split up to search for boxes and I have basically no defense and no stealth solo. Being dead on a "fast" TF is normal for a squishy, don't worry about it, just keep playing.
4. Suck it up, try again, don't give up. The only way to learn is to run the mish until you do get it. Ask other players too while waiting to start, see if they have advice for you. Try to leave the role-play terminology out of it, I find it confusing. Just say "I get lost" ask for assistance.
Good luck. -
Well, I don't like the idea of being forced to team with folks in the queue either, but maybe some compromises could be reached. For example:
1. Show us who is in the queue. Folks have been asking for this.
2. Anyone in the queue for more than X (10?) minutes gets "priority" and a red dot next to their names. These folks are going to get on any next event.
3. Folks who are close to getting priority (been in the queue for X-1 minutes) get a yellow dot.
4. Let us form up a league and join the queue. Add the "Start Event" button. This is used by the League leader to start the event. Events no longer start automatically, the League leader needs to kick them off (even for full teams).
So at this point you've got your league, plus any people with priorty from the queue folks can see what they're getting into, what the composition of the league is, and move people around or wait for more folks, as they please. And you knew who was going to bump your friends because you saw all the folks with red dots next to their names when you opened up the queue dialog to join it. So you knew how many "slots" you had to fill with friends before hand.
So that's a compromise idea, and maybe more acceptable to folks than forced, blind teaming. I also think that:
A. The LFG queue works OK for now. No immediate changes are needed.
B. Therefore, I'd like to see the Devs experiment with some ideas on the test server and see what works out. Players can try stuff out and give feedback.
C. I'd also like to see smarter criteria for the queue itself when starting a League on it's own. As mentioned, the "minimum" doesn't see to be enough, so a parameter should be added to tweak the "minimum" to some higher number. Maybe not "full" but I'd think we need at least 6/8 or 7/8 on each team.
D. Also the queue should be smart enough to divide ATs into broad classes of Tank, DPS, Control, Support and try to get at least one of each on each team.
Lastly, on PUGs formed by the queue, picking the leader as the "first in queue" seems dumb. Again, some criteria should be developed. For example:
a. Most number of Incarnate enhancements.
b. If a. is tied, use most number of vet badges as tie breaker.
c. If b. is tied, use character level.
d. After c., just choose randomly from any remaining characters for League Leader.
This way, recent, experienced players will be considered first, followed by just experienced players. Not perfect, but probably better than "first in queue." -
Quote:This happens to me too... something to do with the camera zoom. I'll go to dark astoria and try out some stuff too, see if I can reproduce it. Do you have a /loc for where you were testing?Interesting idea gameboy, but unfortunately also wasn't the cause for me. I took my character out to a wide open space last night, into the water area near the door for Dark Astoria in Talos Island. I faced the door so that there was nothing but wide open space behind me and tried casting my power on the ground in front of me but had the same intermittent issue. I did try changing my zoom level and it did appear to get a little better as I zoomed in close, but I did not like my camera view to be right behind my characters head. But, even then, the problem still occurred, just not as often.
I assume there are polygons in the way, even if you can't see them. I once turned in a bug in Port Oaks because I couldn't teleport out of a certain area... but only at night. The cursor was red in nearly all directions. I think some polygons that represent lighting effects were being spawned, and they must have been flagged as "stops LOS targeting" or something, rather than "transparent/intangible" to allow us to target through them.
Anyway, DA it is, when I get a chance. -
Quote:With "everything" probably being all non-temp powers that take Damage enhancements. I've got a few damage free attacks (holds, sleeps, etc.). Probably those Mez type powers aren't affected. But a Widow's Domination for example, which does both Hold and Damage, I'd expect would be affected. It doesn't mean the most damaging attack you have, it means most attacks that do damage. You're just misreading it.
FYI, I think Interface works on everything except temp powers. (I know it works on every Power Pool and APP attack that my main has.)
Yeah, it doesn't say your single most damaging attack, it says most attacks that do damage. -
Quote:Hmm, I was going to disagree completely. On most servers Pocket D is completely unused. However I don't like to mess with people's fun either, even if I don't RP or play on Virtue. Seems like a bit of a catch 22, having to make a new zone for LFG just for two high population servers.Pocket D and RWZ are being used... Its hard to get teams into the proper RWZ instance. Pocket D holds more but has RP going already. And if you are on Virtue, like I am, you do not want to mess with the RP'ers. :-)
I think the best course of action might be to get the LFG to work better. Maybe allow Leaders to start their own queue, and allow folks to join it? There might be some parameters to set on a queue you create-- minimum folks to start, certain mix of ATs, etc. Need to think about this a bit... but then folks could just broadcast or advertise over a global channel "Join my queue for BAF..." or something similar. -
First you need a new special Tip mission. They're easy to get, and drop regularily, even on a level 50.
Then you go to the guy in Sharkhead. He's way back by the water, between the AE and the Ferry. Closest to the AE though. -
3rd Person camera view? Sometimes an object that you can't really see but is "there" just behind the camera seems to prevent the reticule from moving or accepting a click.
-
Not sure, but maybe one of the "other" recipes in a costly set. I.e., Luck of the Gambler Defense or Miracle Healing. Once someone slots the really expensive IO from those sets, they tend to want a couple of bonuses and slot a few others from the same set.
-
The AE can mess with your level. Any mish might be set for a minumum of 24 or a maximum of level 20, for example. You might be getting Exemplared/Side Kicked in those missions.
Ditto outside the AE. Depending on who is the leader and what mish you're doing, you might be effectively higher or lower level. That will affect how many (and what level) demons and demonlings you get.
Glance at your level indicator on the main screen. (The one with a up arrow when you level.) That will tell you your effective level, so you know what to expect. -
Aaaaaaaannnnnnnd: it's back to the 13th.
Quote:Another update, Edited the OP.
Due to the volume of tickets we're currently receiving regarding this issue, we've decided to bring the servers offline tomorrow morning [Wednessday, 4/13] for a special maintenance to switch the WST's. Avatea will be posting an update very soon. -
Yeah, the full story is that Posi 1/Tarikoss WST are not working. Notices (almost?) never drop. So the WST will be changed to something that is/was believed to be working, namel Sister/Mantis.
Z-Dog just posted that the change will happen on Thurs, 4/14. The 4/13 date was a mistake. -
Quote:Also I know lots of people that did the advertised TFs didn't receive their notice and support is not being helpful...
I did the WST this morning (Tues) and I did not get a Notice (I did Tarikoos or whatever breakfast cereal he's named after). Not getting the Notice is annoying, but hardly game breaking for me. My beer shall remain tear free.
I'll get another one later. It's not like I haven't been getting them every week or something. -
Same on villain side with the WST -- Taragon in Cap or whatever his name it. Double merit bonus, no Notice. Ah well, at least I'm learning how the petition system works. Got my new login for extra security at NC Soft working too.

Maybe your friend was assuming the Fort was running both Aim and Follow Up? They can do that, although trying to keep both running kind of messes up your attack chain and damage output...
Also, when calculating the Fort AoEs, don't forget crits from Mask Presence and Spin. -
Well, we don't care that you don't care. lol. lmao. rotflcopter. etc.
Historically, the game has been very stable. I can't remember the last time they had this much trouble. I think the level of communication has been fine, the devs have been very proactive when possible, and communication after the fact is sometimes unavoidable.
In short, your level of nerd rage is pretty much unacceptable. Go outside. Read a book. Write a story. This is a temporary inconvenience, it'll get fixed, then we can all play again reliably.
No, I personally haven't been caught in the middle of a crash or anything, but really your post was immature. Please have a little more respect for everyone, devs included, in all your postings, eh?
