  1. It sounds like you have open story arcs from other contacts. Look in your active contact list and check for any that have a book icon on them. You may need to finish at least one of them to get Ramiel's story arc open for you.
  2. Thanks Captain and Phillygirl!
  3. Got it, thanks Phillygirl. In the situation above where one is exemplared down to the zone level, at what level would a PvP IO drop? Would it be the exemplar level, i.e. 38? Or would it be the characters' true level of 50?
  4. I understand that PvP recipes only drop from player character defeats when that defeat is reputation-eligible and that there is a 5 minute timer between reputation-eligible defeats for the same player character.

My question is on the topic of reputation-eligible defeats. How is this determined? I assume there is a level gap involved. Does the character have to be within a certain number of levels? If so, how does this apply when entering a PvP zone or Arena match where the players are exemplared down where there is no level gap? For example, if a level 35 and level 50 character go to Warburg, the level 50 character is auto-exemplared down to 38. Does this mean they are now a reputation-eligible defeat since they are exemplared down to 38? Or does their actual level of 50 still apply and any defeats on them are not eligible?

I did a search on ParagonWiki, but I assume my search-fu is terribly weak because I know this info has to be there but I could not find it. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
  5. My memory is fuzzy, but I recall there being a bug with level shifted characters right after 19.5 was released to live. I also recall there being a hot-fix for the problem, but I can't seem to find what was the issue and what was the solution.

I'm curious as I encountered what may be a bug that is related to a left shifted character. I ran the LGTF last night for the first time this week, and completed successfully. I got the lines in my combat window that I received the bonus merits, the NotW drop and other stuff. I went to my salvage window, to the Incarnate tab, to verify but the NotW drop was not there.

I have gotten the NotW drops the prior two weeks without issue, but between last week and this one I did craft and slot the Rare slot and am now level shifted. It is the only difference I can see.

I double checked the "helper" badges for WST runs and did not receive credit for this LGTF run, so it was not treated as though I had run it already this week.

I have filed a support request but wanted to check here for any info other players may have with any similar issues that could assist my request. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
  6. How long does this one normally take? This is one of two Shard TF's I have yet to complete and would love to join, but only have about 2 hours to spare for it.

Thank you for confirming that. I had been going along that idea all week so I could side-hop for whichever task/strike force I found first. I just so happens I've gotten in all LRSF's all week and haven't ventured into a STF yet.

    Thanks again.

Hah, awesome. I still do not understand the decision that was made to put the information in there rather than the actual CoH launcher. I think I'm correct in assuming that a large majority of the playerbase has never heard of the NCSoft launcher. I personally had not until it was mentioned in the first dev monthly newsletter.

Taking a look in the CoH launcher, they have info at the bottom of the pane about the strike pack and links to the site and forums. Couldn't they simply add one more sentence to the effect of "To learn which task/strike force(s) are the weekly strike target, click this link to view the updated announcement."?

Currently, LGTF and ITF are the only thing in the game where your alignment doesn't matter at all. Hero, villain, vigilante, and rogue can all run them equally. [...]
Please excuse my ignorance and correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought being a rogue/vigilante meant you could join in a TF/SF on either side. Example, even though I'm a vigilante, I could still join an STF team, no?

Note that the NCSoft Launcher is not the normal game launcher you use for City of Heroes. Unless you have other NCSoft games that use the launcher, you would never see this information. The only way a normal player would currently see this information is if they found the Announcement thread.

Not saying the crashing bug isn't Priority 1 right now, but that info and planning was put in place (and slightly announced) long before this bug was encountered and reported. I would have preferred that when they announced these were the places we could find the relevant info, that they could have been found at those places.

To Sam's credit, they actually have said that they are going to announce the WTF in the launcher, but as late as around midnight last night they still had not added it there. Excerpt from the news article yesterday:

I agree with this analogy the most. We always had these task forces, now we are getting special rewards for them during a given time period. It's icing on the cake, so to speak, but only if you like the cake. Then it's just icing.

But, also to point out, it's my personal choice to run said task force of the week even if I don't like it. If I absolutely hate the chosen task force of the week, I could always wait until next week for one that I may like better. Point in case, I personally do not like the STF/LRSF. I don't find the story or mission sequences compelling and do not enjoy the AV mechanics. So, last night it was my choice to run them for the new rewards they are giving this week. I didn't particularly enjoy the task force, but I enjoyed the reward at the end.

So, using the ice cream analogy, the shop owner introduced hot fudge sauce to their menu (which I absolutely love), but will only be adding it onto a select flavor each week, and that flavor changes. This week it is chocolate with hot fudge sauce. I have a gag reflex against chocolate ice cream, but man do I love my fudge sauce. I could get it anyway and hope the sauce makes up for my lack of liking chocolate ice cream. Or, maybe I'll wait until next week and maybe the shop owner will add it to their cake batter ice cream, because I love me some cake batter ice cream.

All in all, bugs or no bugs, I think this is an interesting system they have employed and agree that, once the shininess wears off (just like any new system they have given us over the past 7 years), things will baseline. Heck, even on the first night last night I was able to get in on a group running the Cap TF.
  15. Same here. Saw this on two different computers. Took around 4 minutes to load into the login page when I actually just let it go and watched TV for a bit.
  16. So, those badges for the WST can only be obtained after your first run for the week? Phew, 50 TF runs. I wonder if I've run that many in all my 7 years of CoH.

    weekly TF

There is also this announcement from Avatea that appears to be a thread that will be updated weekly:

  18. Thank you all for the info. That answers my question perfectly. I was planning on taking this character full hero, so I'm glad to hear I will pickup contacts as normal.

    Thanks!
  19. I've only ever taken level 50 characters on the side switching route so I'm unsure of how non-50 characters work when switching sides.

For example, let's say I have a level 40ish villain that I wish to take hero-side. When I get him to Paragon, how do I get him the normal contacts that a level 40ish hero would get? Is it simply through doing radio missions and getting new contacts that way? Will I get all the normal contacts in that level range if I do the diligence of playing through the contact arcs like normal?

My main concern is of taking him hero and only being able to do radio missions his whole life.

Thanks in advance for your input!
  20. Thank you all for the responses. Very much appreciated.

    Note:
Even though your character started as a Hero, if you changed over to a full Villain, you will now have the Villain badge names, so Vandal might be the one to look for if you already have it.

As for a progress bar, I do recall seeing the placeholder for the badge in the Defeat category. It doesn't have an actual progress bar though because of the several requirements. If you don't already have it, all I can suggest is to keep clearing maps of all those items and you should eventually get it. Good Luck!
You are quite correct on this. I checked the "Defeats" tab and there is a placeholder for it, and in my case, yet to be achieved.

Thank you all again for the help!
  21. I'm a hero character who has traveled over to being a villain. I thought I had all the badges understood, but I think I'm wrong on one or more of them. I have written down that a "defeats" badge named Anger Manager is available for a hero that requires breaking 25 each of fire hydrants, newspaper vendors, pay phone booths and mailboxes. But, having been in several mayhem missions now, I don't see a progress bar for it and I know I haven't gotten it.

However, in checking my "closest to completion" tab I see that I have one for completing arson side jobs, requiring 10 to get this badge. I don't have this on my list of badges that converted heroes can get in mayhem missions.

So, obviously I messed up somewhere along the way, and obviously the arson badge is the real one since the in-game tracker is showing it. My questions are:
    1. What is the name of this arson badge?
    2. Is there a badge heroes can get for defeating fire hydrants, etc.?

If it helps with the answer at all, when converting from hero to villain I already had received all the badges from safeguard missions. Not sure if that makes a difference.

    Thanks in advance!
  22. I would love to know which setting it was. On my Ice/Storm controller, I have this issue with all my location based powers and haven't changed my settings in years. I took a stroll through the options but nothing jumped out at me as something that would affect the location target reticle.

  24. My main character is an Ice/Storm/Ice controller with which I pretty much solo all content. I heard all the talk about Trapdoor before facing him and was expecting a nightmare encounter. I was surprised to find that he was fairly easy to manage. I'll note up front that I don't have Hurricane on my build and Gale has long since been tossed off my power trays. I also did not use the lava melt tactic or a hallway pull. I stood toe-to-toe with him and, I think, I popped one green in the entire encounter.

My tactics for this particular one were:
    - Your first attack him causes him to summon a bifrucation. Make it Block of Ice (BoI) to get the first hold application on him. Don't rely on an overpower to happen or, if you're like me and have the Devastation Chance to Hold slotted, to have that fire off. If it does, awesome, but don't rely on it.
    - His bifrucations are fairly week in comparison, so even though he has one out continue on Trapdoor for a minute. Lay down Freezing Rain, Snow Storm, Chilblain and Frostbite, Lightning Storm and Tornado. Jack should have been out already so he's likely already engaged Trapdoor.
    - BoI him again to get him held.
    - Turn focus to one or two bifrucations he has out by now. For me, a single BoI, Chilblain and Ice Blast put each of them down for the count.
    - Turn focus back to Trapdoor and wail on him with everything you have, being sure to keep BoI applied on him. He did break though the hold and immob several times, but having Snow Storm on him and laying down and Ice Slick made him do the running man and not focus so much on attacking me or Jack.
    - Take out his bifrucations at this point as they spawn. With all your pets out, even turning away for a little bit to deal with them you will still be way outdamaging his regen.
    - Win.

Trapdoor wasn't a pushover, but he wasn't a terrible encounter either. It also wasn't a single button mash fest. While I would have called it simple to complete, I did have to use every single power in my arsenal to get it done. I also will admit that I have a decent amount of +Recharge in my build so that definitely help with quickly dispatching his bifrucations.

    Hope this helps some!

I feel so stupid. This was the problem. I switched to a character with fly and without that stealth proc and it works fine. Thanks for helping me sort this out!
