Quote:Agreed on both points. The leader had to tell the dom/trollers not to immob. You're also right about not to use controls on battle maiden in the mission 2 if you have melee on the team, especially if at least 1 of the melee has and uses taunt for the -range so that she will come out of the blue patches quicker.
My brute kept taunt on BM and she kept following me around while I dodged blue targets. Meanwhile, the team kept hitting her with range. I also didn't need to come to close to her since I can catch her within my AOEs. AOEs are very useful for the swords too. As soon as they come within my AOE range, Lightning rod + shield charge = many dead swords.
My brute wears the title Master of Apex TF proudly.
As for my dom, well... still working on shards... -
Quote:What do you expect? We're into domination... it's an ebil AT after all.I want to create an Earth/Ice guide but I know this community is so darned picky and critical that my sensitive lil ego can't take it...
Write it or else! *whip-crack*
So what if you get feedback on the guide? Hey, it proves someone's reading it! I say nobody's perfect and if there's something that's not clear, then I'm sure that folks in the community will try to resolve it/test it out. You can update your guide with their feedback or you can ignore suggestions.
So bust out your writing chops and dominate. -
If you plan on playing a villain, I can invite you to Dark Kingdom. DK has a lot of members, so if you need an invite to DK or its other branches, just ask in Cap Au Diable. I'm usually on after 8 PM weekdays playing Avsolut Zer0, Voltez Y or Dominura.

I vote sonic/sonic corr since I hate Stone Melee. Kills too slow.
Corrs are always useful and the sonic shields will help in MS Raids and Mo Runs. -
Quote:All Dom ITF - 1:05You'd be better off running some sort of timed PvE competition to be honest.
Timed Solo mission run and some sort of all AT Task Force run would be better indicators. Even then they'd only be indicators
All Dom LRSF - about 45 mins with 2 plant doms and 2 perma mind doms. However, I know of 3 failed attempts at all Dom LRSF. You need good sleeper doms, doms that have some debuff like plant, and high damage Doms that can tank Statesman. If a team manages to get to the last mission, Statesman's unstoppable is the biggest problem. -
I was on trial account last year. This is what happened to me.
Day 1-3: I liked the gadgeteer from Champions online, so the closest thing in the AT list is a Villain Mastermind. Did the first arc under Kalinda and then joined my first bank run. Farmed the bank until I hit 10.
Day 4-5: I decided to try hero side and made a controller. OMG. I was dying running from mission to mission. The villain missions tend to be closer to where your contact is. The hero missions may force you to run all the way to the other side of the map. I managed to suck it up to lvl 6. While looking for a team in Atlas, I noticed that people tend to make fun of newbie questions. Basically, putting down the one who asked the question. The chat on villain side was more respectful and helpful.
Day 6-8: I set LFT and search comment to: trial accnt, cant use tell. MM/healer. I got invited to many teams, some as high as 50 (for Winter Lord teams). My level capped at 14, but I still liked to play the MM.
Day 9: Played hero until lvl 10. What surprised me most was how easily people quit the team after a team wipe. This happened on several teams I joined. The villain teams were more patient and completed more missions.
Day 10-14: I went back to villain side and found out that I could buy a jetpack at lvl 1 in Grandville. On new toons, I open a few presents to get 1 candy cane and sell it for 50k (that's the inf cap for trial accounts). Then I use the money to buy a jetpack. Woohoo! No more running through town to get to my mission.
Anyway, that's how I ended up on villain side. I usually don't have trouble finding folks to play with. However, I tend to form teams rather than join one. In my experience, people would rather join than lead. Unfortunately, it seems that there are a lot more joiners than leaders. When I want to form a team, I just broadcast: Lv xx team forming, pst for invite. I get about 4-6 replies and suddenly I'm leading a 5 person team.
I joined a bunch of Villain groups during the first month. Here's the ones I stuck with:
- Dark Kingdom: lots of members, helpful and taught me a lot about the game.
- Shadow Souls: smaller group, but really good players. Strikeforce masters.
- Venu sovereignty: Really nice and helpful leader. Leads Raids and COP. In coalition with Shadow Souls.
As for blind invites, it's ok to decline. If you don't like blind invites, you may be able to prevent it by setting your search comment to: No blind invites. Some team leaders have a macro that sends a message or invite using the search list. They could just be spamming the macro hoping for a response.
After 1 yr of playing, I still think the game is pretty awesome. -
I don't see how you can call it cheap by having 2 sets of Gladiator's net, an expensive PVP IO, in there.
(31) Absolute Amazement - Accuracy/Recharge <--- did this purple IO sneak in there somehow?
Only need 3 Rech IOs in Hasten. Use the 2 slots somewhere else, maybe Power Boost.
Instead of Fly, maybe get Combat Jumping instead. You can put a LOTG7.5 there.
Another place for a LOTG7.5 is in Fighting->Weave.
That Oblit in Mud pots seems wasted... Mud pots base damage is really low.
Teleport Foe - not very useful in my opinion. This isn't a PvP build, so replace with something else.
I recommend slotting only 2 in your stone pet. Use the other 4 slots elsewhere to improve your defense, health and stamina.
Now for pricing:
Decimation recipes - prolly 200k-500k each if you don't get lvl 40 ones.
Crushing Impact/Thunderstrike - 2-5 mil per crafted IO. Recipes prolly cheap.
Obliteration recipes - prolly 500k-1 mil each if you don't get lvl 50 ones.
Sandmap - cheap
Stupefy recipes - prolly 200k-500k each if you don't get lvl 50 ones.
Dark Watcher/Call to Arms/Expedient R - check the IOs. Prolly can get 2-3 mill crafted if you don't get lvl 50 ones. Recipes are cheap.
Positron - prolly 200k-500k each if you don't get lvl 50 ones.
Impervious - prolly 200k-500k each if you don't get lvl 30 ones.
DarkW has an example of a build with 80% rech without any purples.

Quote:Warning: Enhancement Diversification can cap for IOs over lvl 30. For example, 3-slot Unstoppable with common recharge IOs.You might want to get better Enhancements on that character, too. At level 45 you should be using level 45 Common IOs at a minimum. They have a big enhancement advantage over level 25 Commons.
IO level | recharge time | time diff | % of base change | % diff
none___| 1,000.0 _____| 0.0 ____| 100.0% ________ | 0.0%
____10 | 740.2 _______| -259.8 _| 74.0% __________|-26.0%
____15 | 634.5 _______| -105.7 _| 63.5% __________| -10.6%
____20 | 567.8 _______| -66.7 __| 56.8%___________|-6.7%
____25 | 520.3 _______| -47.5 __| 52.0% __________|-4.8%
____30 | 511.1 _______| -9.2 ___| 51.1% __________| -0.9%
____35 | 508.9 _______| -2.2 ___| 50.9% __________|-0.2%
____40 | 506.7 _______| -2.2 ___| 50.7% __________|-0.2%
____45 | 504.5 _______| -2.2 ___| 50.5% __________|-0.2%
____50 | 502.3 _______| -2.2 ___| 50.2% __________|-0.2%
When 3-slotting with the same sort of enhancement, level 25-30 IOs give practically the same improvement as higher level ones, ie, (3) lvl 25s give a 48% improvement while (3) lvl 50s give a 50% improvement; a difference of a mere 2%.
You are at lvl 25 IOs right now. So if you upgrade to (3) lvl 45 IOs, expect an improvement of 520.3 - 504.5 = 15.8 secs for a power that has a 1000 sec recharge.
What if your power had a 10 sec recharge time? If you upgrade to (3) lvl 45 IOs, you improve by 5.2 - 5.04 = 0.15 secs. A whoppingly large number!
Anyway, lvl 45 IOs cost more, so if you're on a budget, you may need to rethink whether you want to pay a lot for such a small improvement. -
Freedom and Virtue are neck in neck in terms of population. It's usually x2 or x3 compared to other servers.
If you like drama and RP, head on over to Virtue.
(( If this sort of chat bothers you, stick with Freedom ))
I don't like PvP, but I know about 10 or so PvPers who regularly do arena matches. RV and Siren's seemed pretty active last time I popped my head in there. -
Quote:Yup. You lose the recipe once you craft it. And yes, if you want a full set of Crushing Impact on 5 powers, you have to buy 5 full sets of Crushing Impact recipes/IOs.If you take that recipe down to the university and make it... is it consumed, so that essentially you need one recipe drop per IO slot?
So, to get like, say, 5 powers 5 - slotted with Blah of the Blah set, you need 25 recipe's?
1 for 1 only. It would be so cool if we were like Betty Crocker and just follow a recipe out of a cookbook to make dozens of apple pie, but sadly, that's not the case. You lose the recipe once you craft it.
Quote:I am confused because pricewise, I have seen some recipe's go for so much inf, that it would appear you could get more than one IO out of them... or is it just always that the recipe costs x, and the IO is going to cost X + cost of materials + markup.
But why not sell it back to arbiter within the respec? It's because the buy price rots. For example, the buy back price for a level 30 Doctor Wounds is something like 100k. However, it sells for 500k - 1 million on the market. Even if I sell it on the market for 200k, I still got more for it. If Doctor Wounds recipes cost 200k to buy, then here's the case where the IO is cheaper than the recipe when I list the IO for 200k.
There are also nice players out there who just list their respecd IOs for 1 inf so that other people can use it. So make sure to check IOs for possible good deals. -
Thanks all for the replies! I decided to join Chef's VG as a new minion.

Quote:I can only give you villain suggestions, cuz I mostly play villains.Good Single target damage
Good Area of Effect damage
Decent crowd control (hard or soft)
Something in the Pri/Sec powers that buffs/helps the team like an aura, or a debuff, or a buff
A combo that makes concept "sense", ie not something hard to get your head around concept wise like bots/dark, or plants/fire.
A feeling of being relatively tough and super-hero-y(not necessarily tanker/brute, but not squishy)
Something that doesn't hit people with a weapon
Because you want to buff, I suggest a corrupter. Since you want something 'aura' like, it implies a power that is persistent when you activate it. Once such power is Sonic Resonance: Sonic Dispersion. You create a large field of sonic waves, protecting all allies inside. The Sonic Dispersion gives all allies within increased resistance against all damage except psionic. The Sonic Bubble also protects allies from immobilization, disorient, and hold effects. Given that requirement, it will have to be a /sonic Corr.
For a combo of single target and AOE damage, I suggest fire. So the fire/sonic.
For being tough, take the fighting pool. I suggest either Mace Mastery for the Scorpion shield or Power Mastery.
--- Villain concept: Burning Banshee
Born in the highlands of Ireland, Shawn MacGowan was a simple farmer. While out on the fields on Samhain, a portal suddenly appeared and Tuatha de Danaan crossed into the human realm. They preyed upon the helpless Shawn and tortured him with fire and broke his spirit with their wretched wailing. Eager to maintain an anchor into the human realm, they infused some of their powers into his soul.
The next day, Shawn woke up in his bed and was told he probably fainted from exhaustion. However, deep into the night, he hears whispers. Whispers that he must heed. The night burns with the wailing of death.

Hope this helps. -

Quote:Honestly, I suggest looking at the market forums and learn how to work the market to accumulate infamy instead of farming. If you have Going Rogue, you can: (assumes you haven't done any tips before)Hey, I've been playing CoX for a while now and only have 1 level 50. That being said I have never really been able to build up any good amount of Infamy. I was wondering what a good starting farm build would be. I only have around 20 mil infamy and that is just from getting my SS/Elec Brute to 50. Any suggestions on low cost if not down right no cost builds to help me get started? Any AT is welcome.
Day 1: do 5 tips
Day 2: do 5 tips + Morality mission
Day 3: do 5 tips
Day 4: do 5 tips + Morality mission. You get 1 A-merit.
Day 5: do 5 tips
Day 6: do 5 tips + Morality mission. You get 1 A-merit.
If you're a villain, go to Cap and run over to the Crucible and click on the Trashcan which is near Black Scorpion. If you're a hero, I'm guessing it's Fort Trident, but I'm not sure. Exchange your 2 A-merits for either Defense set: Luck of the gambler 7.5 or Healing Set: Miracle +Recovery.
Craft your recipe and sell it on the market between 150 - 200 mill. Basically, if you do tips, you can earn 150 - 200 mil every 2 days.
I don't have SS but I do have an Electric armor brute. I have slotted him with cheap sets and he can do AE at +1 or +2 with smashing and lethal mobs. However, I don't use him for AE. Just to see if his performance is ok, I ran 1 AE mish.
If you have Going Rogue, I'm sure you'll want in on the Incarnate action and that means doing strikeforces like ITF, RSF, LGTF, etc. If you don't want to faceplant too much, I suggest getting some decent sets.
To slot on the cheap side, I picked uncommon (yellow color) recipes. Most of my IOs are lvl 20-30. I only pick higher level IOs if I got the power above lvl 30. Note that the higher the level, the more the IO will cost to buy or craft.
Defense: Red fortune, serendipity
Resist Damage: Titanium coating
End Mod: Efficiency Adap
To hit: Adj Targeting
Melee: Smashing haymaker, crushing impact, bruising blow
??? AOE: Multistrike, Sciroco's dervish (lvls 20-25 ONLY!)
Health/Heal: Harmonized healing, Triage
Also look in Crafted Enhancements->Other for possible cheap common IOs.
How much can you spend per recipe? Let's look at the cost:
Recipe_______55000___100000____200000
Salv__________3000_____3000______3000
Craft@lvl30___40000____40000_____40000
1_slot_______98000___143000_____243000
88_slots__8,624,000__12,584,000__21,384,000
From the above table, if you spend 55000 per recipe, your cost for 88 slots is 8.6 million. If you spend 200k per recipe, 88 slots will cost 21 million. The above numbers assume lvl 30 recipes for crafting cost. Note that lvl 50 recipes cost 500k to craft. So with 20 mil, you can only craft (40) lvl 50 recipes which is just half your total slots.
Farming bores me, and I like crafting, so I sell my crafted IOs to fund my builds. -
I updated the results of All Dom SF Saturday. Quick summary:
ITF: 1 hr 5 mins
RSF: Failed
LGTF: went with a mixed group and did a shard run. 2 doms participated.
Silver Mantis: not enough members
Ice Mistral: not enough members
Long Story:
ITF -
We did the sybils at a fair pace. The cysts took a while and resulted in some deaths. For the PC, we did the PC first and then pulled Rom and Req. The generals and the EBs with them took a while to kill. For the last mission, we cleared the bridge and went down the left side until we killed to 120. Then we cleared the court before Rom. It was easy to mez Rom but it took a while to chip at his HP. Finished at 1 hr, 5 mins.
RSF -
The doms that originally wanted to come for RSF didn't want to do it anymore after the 1 hr speed ITF. Hiru thought that an all dom ITF would go fast, but in this case, it didn't, so he decided not to come to RSF.
So only 4 of us were left and it took 20 mins to gather 3 other doms. It was an almost dom team except for 1 kin corr that agreed to fill in.
Crimson was routine. For the Malta, we grabbed some breakfrees for those damn gas holds. In the Future FP, I fired off Enchantment of Serafina to protect from Numi and Sis' mez. We tried to pull one by one, but Sis and Bab came at the same time. We tried to focus on Sis, but Bab kept killing folks, so I popped Surge of Power and kept him busy until Sis went down. Then it was off to the Vindicator base. This is where it didn't work out. First and second pull for Mal resulted in everyone coming over. For the 3rd and 4th pull, the mind doms tried to sleep them, but eventually they woke up and attacked. We had Mal down to 10% HP, but over time, the other heroes took out team members one by one. After the 4th pull, one of the doms said he had enough of debt and took off.
LGTF -
After disbanding RSF, 3 of us were left, so I asked the team if they wanted to do an all dom run. We decided to go with a mixed team and do a shard run. We finished in 1 hr 13 mins.
For the lowbie SFs, I asked around if any dom was interested, but I didn't get any responses. *shrug*
So there you have it. Judge as you will. Feel free to try all Dom runs. It can be an interesting experience. -

All Dom ITF done at 1:05.
All Dom RSF didn't work out. We couldn't pull the Vindicators one by one. After All Dom RSF failed, the remaining members decided to do a mixed LGTF.
As I write this, the time is 3:45 PM PST. I'll try to see if there's interest in all Dom Silver Mantis in about 1 hr. -

Thanks much Zeph! I realize this may cost me a pretty penny, but I figure I can start saving now while I'm leveling him. Currently at 47 now.

Quote:I have a rad/kin and it is horrible solo. It works well with teams.I was thinking of Rad/Kin, as it appears to be ST friendly, and Kin allows for stealing +DMG.
However, I could be way off about how Rad is performing and where it sits in the AOE to ST spread.
I agree on Fire/kin or rolling a blaster instead. And I recommend not ignoring AoEs. He's not gonna find enemies by themselves all the time and AoEs are the way to go to wiping out a mob in secs.
If this is a PvP toon, then it's a different story. -
Earl Grey, please... Extra strong, extra sweet.
Gratz! -
Quote:I bid on TODs about two weeks ago and finally completed a set of TOD for around 100k - 500k a recipe yesterday. However, I wasn't too picky about the levels, so my levels range from as low as 24 and as high as 39.On a more serious note I've had bids for four sets of L30 Touch of death since the middle of December
You can also run tips to get them. 1 A-merit/2 days, so you could've gotten a set in 2*7 days or 2 weeks.
If you really want em, I say work for em instead of waiting for someone to sell it to you for the price that you want. Because if the price that you want is much less than what someone wants for the work that they did running tips, you're not gonna fill your bids.
