Good starter farming character

Hey, I've been playing CoX for a while now and only have 1 level 50. That being said I have never really been able to build up any good amount of Infamy. I was wondering what a good starting farm build would be. I only have around 20 mil infamy and that is just from getting my SS/Elec Brute to 50. Any suggestions on low cost if not down right no cost builds to help me get started? Any AT is welcome.

Instead of getting another toon to 50, I'd use what you have and make an AE mission with primarily Energy damage dealers and farm the heck out of it. Just carry a few lucks in, set it to +1/x8 and you should be able to farm your heart out with your build.

Honestly, I suggest looking at the market forums and learn how to work the market to accumulate infamy instead of farming. If you have Going Rogue, you can: (assumes you haven't done any tips before)
Day 1: do 5 tips
Day 2: do 5 tips + Morality mission
Day 3: do 5 tips
Day 4: do 5 tips + Morality mission. You get 1 A-merit.
Day 5: do 5 tips
Day 6: do 5 tips + Morality mission. You get 1 A-merit.

If you're a villain, go to Cap and run over to the Crucible and click on the Trashcan which is near Black Scorpion. If you're a hero, I'm guessing it's Fort Trident, but I'm not sure. Exchange your 2 A-merits for either Defense set: Luck of the gambler 7.5 or Healing Set: Miracle +Recovery.
Craft your recipe and sell it on the market between 150 - 200 mill. Basically, if you do tips, you can earn 150 - 200 mil every 2 days.

I don't have SS but I do have an Electric armor brute. I have slotted him with cheap sets and he can do AE at +1 or +2 with smashing and lethal mobs. However, I don't use him for AE. Just to see if his performance is ok, I ran 1 AE mish.
If you have Going Rogue, I'm sure you'll want in on the Incarnate action and that means doing strikeforces like ITF, RSF, LGTF, etc. If you don't want to faceplant too much, I suggest getting some decent sets.

To slot on the cheap side, I picked uncommon (yellow color) recipes. Most of my IOs are lvl 20-30. I only pick higher level IOs if I got the power above lvl 30. Note that the higher the level, the more the IO will cost to buy or craft.
Defense: Red fortune, serendipity
Resist Damage: Titanium coating
End Mod: Efficiency Adap
To hit: Adj Targeting
Melee: Smashing haymaker, crushing impact, bruising blow
??? AOE: Multistrike, Sciroco's dervish (lvls 20-25 ONLY!)
Health/Heal: Harmonized healing, Triage

Also look in Crafted Enhancements->Other for possible cheap common IOs.

How much can you spend per recipe? Let's look at the cost:
Recipe_______55000___100000____200000
Salv__________3000_____3000______3000
Craft@lvl30___40000____40000_____40000
1_slot_______98000___143000_____243000
88_slots__8,624,000__12,584,000__21,384,000

From the above table, if you spend 55000 per recipe, your cost for 88 slots is 8.6 million. If you spend 200k per recipe, 88 slots will cost 21 million. The above numbers assume lvl 30 recipes for crafting cost. Note that lvl 50 recipes cost 500k to craft. So with 20 mil, you can only craft (40) lvl 50 recipes which is just half your total slots.

Farming bores me, and I like crafting, so I sell my crafted IOs to fund my builds.

Wow thanks for the run down guys. I really appreciate it. I never got into crafting IO sets, just used the base IO like damage and accuracy. This will definitely help me out.

Also quick question. Do IO set bonus stack from the same sets? For example if I had to powers slotted with Crushing Impact would I get the set bonuses twice? So instead of the 5% bonus to recharge I would have a 10% bonus along with the other bonuses being doubled as well?

Yes, they would be. There is, however, something called the Rule of 5. Basically, you can only have the 5% Recharge Set bonus 5 times. Well, you can have it more than that but it will only count it five times. So, if you have 3 sets of Doctored Wounds, 2 sets of Crushing Impact and a set of Obliteration, it will only count 5 of the 5% bonuses and one will be disregarded.

The only "exception" to this is that the Luck of the Gambler Global Recharge IO that gives 7.5% recharge bonus is seperate from other 7.5% set bonuses, so you can have 5 LotGs and 5 7.5% bonuses elsewhere.

Hope that helps.

I also recommed the Doc Wounds set for the 5% Rech bonus. It's also a cheap recipe to craft.

re: AE farming: I've had the best luck with bronze rolls. It has the 3% def procs, kb prot procs, Regen tissue proc, rectified reticle (100mill+ generally), Basilisk Gaze and a few other 10millish drops.

I wait until you are at the ticket cap, then roll at minimum level (10-14). Always craft your ios before selling - it generally adds a great premium - and use tickets for the rare salvage if it's too expensive.

As others have said, amerits are a great way to make money. Check the market before you spend them to see what is selling high - and at what level. When I get Miracles, for example, I get them at minimum level.
