I just found a really cool addition to CoH that I have never done in my 30 months of playing.
Its almost like a whole 'nother game... CoV :0 -
I should also mention that my gaming experience increased dramatically for the better when I joined a good Super Group. And it grew even more when I joined the global channel Triumph Watch.
So I would suggest finding a supportive and active SG, and find your servers global channel that does broadcasts raids and tfs and the like. -
1) About the healing mousover thing. There is no way to 'target' just by mousing over in COH. However, you could do what I do whenever I play defenders is target through people. All you have to do is click on the team mates name in the team window and you can immediately attack the target he is targeting.
2). Not much I can say about enhancements besides get out there and try them out. For the beginning of your hero career, just focus on using SOs. Those will get you through any part of the game. Read the guides section for more info on the stuff =)
3). A great resource I used to learn more about the game is ZombieMan's Guide to Guides
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=122411
This is jam-packed with useful information. Granted, a lot of the builds and powers guides are well outdated now, it still is helpful to learn how the game works.
4) As for a Farming AT/build. Can't really go wrong with a Fire/Kin. My experience with them is, you feel like crap until you get stamina, then you just feel crappy.... then you finally get Transference at 35 and you start feeling at least slightly useful. Fulcrum Shift makes you happy, and when you finally hit 50, you are a power house. Note: Fire/Kins have great AoE potential against certain mobs. But if you walk outside of your farming environment, you suck.... (In my own experience)
I first started casually farming on an Ice/SS tank... so I would imagine that any scrapper or tank worth the bits they are stored in can farm to some degree. -
As far as I know. No one knows exactly how DR works.
Correct me if I'm wrong. -
Quote:So what you are saying is you don't want to put HOs and purples in your builds because they are hard to get, or cost too much inf?Allow me to ask, DS, but why did you put the Res' in the very end of the build? Furthermore, I never think about my budget, as I consider money a matter of time, which is also the reason I don't really like to put purps or Hami-O's in my builds, as they're tough getting, and people rarely think I should have them.
So why do you have ten of the rarest of the rare IOs (the pvp IOs) in your build? -

Also the defense bonus is tremendus for 2 full sets. One set for combat jumping, and the other set for Super Jump.
It's level 10, so you can have that extra defense as low as level 7.
And it gives a cool semi transparent buff icon on the icon bar. =) worth the 150 mil -
Don't believe we mentioned the guns had to shoot bullets... =P

Aww, I was hoping Ninja Run's jump was supposed to be that high :/
-
Everything runs from my Fire/SR =(
Minnions, LTs, Bosses, EBs, AVs, Monsters and GMs.
And I would think that Pylons and Hami would run if they could. -
Quote:Reading this reminded me of a Claws/Regen I saw during the good 'ole MA days. When I told a long time friend and wow player that 'no AT/build combo is useless in CoX'
He had 1 attack, fast healing QR, recon, and all 4 powers of all four travel powers. He spent the mission running through mobs with Whirlwind and trying to teleport me around the mission....
P.S. I did see it said AT/build, but it was just the reading of that that brought this player to my mind... =) -
Quote:I just wanted to mention that it looks like this link is broken. Here's a link to my old build.
Is there anyway you could repost the build? -
I'm just pointing things out. Mostly for people who are at work and can't get on the game to experience this for themselves.
The points where things I noticed, and the comment underneath was what I felt about it. -
There are a few things I want to bring up about Ninja Run.
1) Detoggles my Combat Jumping.
This I can probably get over.
2) It suppresses when you attack. =(
When fighting with this on, it is completely supressed and you don't get any benifit from it, just like a travel power.
Note: I have not tested in a PvP zone
3) It is unenhanceable.
This is another point that I can probably get over. The devs wanted to give us a good power without the ability for it to become over powered.
4) It costs double the endurance of sprint.
This falls under the overpowered part of the power as the point above states. If it didn't cost any end, then it could definitely be called over powered.
5) Doesn't work in Granite :/
Not that big of a deal, just saw that some one asked about it and wanted to note that it doesn't. -
Something I would suggest is to type /netgraph 1
If the bar is green with very high bars, this is usually the case when your computer needs an upgrade.
If the bar is yellow, than you are missing packets, or the computer is too slow to keep up. This usually leads to everything halting, and then jumping around to place where the server says they should be.
If the bar is red, than you are losing packets. This is usually the case if your internet connection is too slow to keep up.
If /netgraph 1 looks normal, (ie low green bars) than I don't know why you are having problems.
I know on any of my toons, if I used sigle target attacks, everything was hunky-dorie, but if I used AoE's, than /netgraph went yellow and I lagged out the wazoo.
(/netgraph 0 turns off the graph, /netgraph 2 gives a larger graph) -

Cause some times it takes a whole episode for the guy to charge his 'Lazor'
Again... I think -
Yes, my first 50 was my Spines/Regen Scrapper. I Played him almost every day, did just about everything with him.
Then I soft-capped my fire/sr and really haven't played my spines/regen except to move him to another day job location. -
Ok. After reading all the good comments, I just have a few things to add to the discussion.
1) I did not see the part of his message when he said all he wanted to do was tank Rom.
(He sent the message at 08-04-2009 18:45:15, I was kicked at 08-04-2009 19:32:02) Even if I had seen the message, I had about 45 minutes to forget it, and I am in general a very forgetful person.
2) No one seemed to have a problem throughout the whole ITF. We had many fun conversations, and in general enjoyed each others company (as far as I know).
3) I got kicked with no warning. This is what really bugged me. No tell, no team message. Nothing. I had to send a tell to another team mate to find out why I got kicked.
4) I in no way surmise that what I was doing was the way to play the game. I was just enjoying my scrapper (cause I had recently finished IOing him). If the team wasn't able to keep up, or was having difficulties, I definitely would have slowed down, let the tank tank and protected the squishies. I was simply testing my build.
I do not want to paint the picture that I was blameless, because I was not. But I do like people to tell me if they have a problem, instead of just taking the harshest action against me.
And the best I can do to give both sides of the story is to present the chat log, so, if you want it, I can PM it (if it isn't against the forum regulations)
:Edited to fix a typo X0 -
I would rather we get 2 global ignore lists.
A player ignore list, and a spam ignore list. -
Quote:First: I figured I would die fast, and wanted to see if I would.Me too. I have to say OP, while I wouldn't have kicked you, why didn't you just let the guy tank Romi. That's all he asked.
Second: I was not aware that tanking was all about taking alpha, but taking the aggro from the other team mates.
I really did think that 4 AVs would kill me in a couple of seconds.
Edit: And yes, I had forgotten that he had said he wanted to tank Romie. (to be honest, I didn't see his chat, and had to scroll back through an hour of chat before I found a spot where he said that.) He didn't talk, he didn't remind anyone. -
So, this evening I got a random tell from some one asking me if I wanted to do an ITF. I was bored, so I said "What the hay, sure"
When we began, we had 2 trollers, a dom, 2 defs, a stone tank, a stalker, and me, a scrapper. The Stone tank was the leader, however, the only thing he said was this is his first time doing an ITF on the toon, and was wondering how he would do on Rom. We told him he would be fine.
During the first mission I sort of lead the team, taking the alpha because there was no kin on the team so the stone tank was slow >.>... very slow. I told the team that I enjoy challenging myself and so I might run ahead of the team, but no one should feel obligated to 'save' me. The leader (stone tank) said it was fine, all he wanted to do was tank Rom. We did fine, with an occasional Def dieing, finished the mish with no problem. I herded the mobs, grabbed the Minotaur, and in general lead the team.
Second mish, I asked if any one minded if I just ran through and got all the cysts. They were all cool with it and the tank didn't say anything. So, I ran through, and got all the cysts. Yay mission done, again no one died but a Defender cause the EB spawned on his head.
Third mish, I herded the bridge, pulled the EBs and AVs. I had to tank Requiem and Rom for a few minutes because the tank thought those pesky minions were more important than 2 AVs.
Last mish, we all run to the platform, I started to herd the platform, grabbed the 3 EBs, and we were having a grand old time. When the last Cyclops had just a little bit of health left, I decided to see if I could take on Rom and the 3 other AVs. I jump into Rom and started wailing on him, and I suddenly saw the loading screen. I figured some odd bug had rezoned me.
As it turns out, the tank kicked me because he wanted to tank Rom. He didn't say anything like, "Hey I wanted to tank him" or, what I would have done if I was him, sit back and see if I die. Or even just hit taunt and bam, aggro is on tank and every one is happy.
I got to talking with some of the other team mates and they said they all were shocked. After a few minuted one team member told me they had wiped.
I then decided to send a tell to the tank leader and ask why he kicked me. He said "If you want to lead a team, start one". I HAD been leading the team for the whole TF. He didn't say anything during the TF, he didn't lead at all. The team was following me. After a few more minutes, I got another tell from the team saying they wiped again and that they didn't have the damage with only a stalker for damage.
Now some of this story was just to set the scene, and some was to show you the shock I had when I got kicked from the team, and some of it was to show you how funny I thought this was after he kicked me. Yet some of the other details was just because I wanted to vent a bit =)
So, any of you scrappers ever get kicked from your TF because you tanked an AV?
