Quote:You assume populations are 'spread thin' on those servers. For everyone who complains that a particular server is a ghost town and "you can't find teams", there's usually two people from that server to pipe up and say otherwise.Sorry, didn't relise this has been confirmed as not happening but even if EU and US players cant get access to each others servers it would make sense to merge the servers on each side, if the populations spread thin on US servers then merge then into 2 full servers and do the same for defiant and union on the EU side

Quote:This. Intangibility is Phasing. Which means inherently, only affecting self and walk-though things with target boxes. Enemies can attack a phased critter, but it won't do anything.Intangible targets can affect themselves, too. I believe the only difference between Intangible and Untouchable + OnlyAffectingSelf is that intangible entities don't have hit boxes (you can walk through them)
Traditional self-phasing is: Intangible + Translucence VFX + Stealth
Phasing attacks are usually: Intangible + Immobile
Untouchable means that others can't affect you, but you can affect others. Sounds unfair, right? Right. That's why Untouchable is usually accompanied by a "Only Affect Self" tag to prevent such abuse. However, being Untouchable and able to attack others can happen such as with Rise of the Phoenix which has 15s of Untouchability (most of that is spent in animation).
Unlike being Intangible where you can be attacked, but it won't do any good, if something is flagged as Untouchable, attacks simply fail to go off.
A self-untouchable power is Hibernate which is accompanied by a "Only Affect Self" tag and immobilization. The short description says it's a 'Self-Hold', but it's not a hold at all.
Attacks which impose Untouchableness are usually accompanied by "Only Affect Self" and immobilization. Such is the case with the powers that have "Foe Capture (Special)" in their short description. 'Foe Capture' is not a status effect in and of itself, it's a particular suite of status affects. -
Wan't this topic a auto-delete-cuase-it's-been-flogged-to-death topic on the EU forums?
To summarize the many, may dev responses on this:
No, not going to happen. International law reasons. Besides the 'empty' UK servers are as 'empty' as the mid-population US servers and they're not going to merge any time soon, either. -

Quote:Brilliant...it was the page_bgr > div that I couldn't find to fix. Thank you!
EDIT: I updated my googledoc with what I'm using ("Changes width of forums"), which includes a tiny amount of space on each side so that there's visible boxes.
EDIT2: I updated my googledoc with a nicer thumbtack image for stickies ("Changes "Sticky" image to a nicer thumbtack"). As usual, use the top block for the Hero theme and the bottom block for the Villain theme, or both if you switch between themes.
I'm already on a widescreen, and so, for me, 95% is plenty wide. Mostly so the forums are wider than the CP Bar at the very top.
And I already changed the default sticky icons, they're subtler (smaller and more match-y to the skin color) than yours, but certainly not as nice looking since they're gifs and not pngs.
What I'll do is include your options in my skins but comment them out so that a user can un-comment them to activate them and delete my alternatives if they wish.
And everyone should check out Diellan_'s new GreaseMonkey Script that does what I asked for above: It moves the Sticky Icon to in front of thread name and deletes the "SICKLY: " prefix. (typo intended). Here's that script. -
-
Just a little bug, Diellan, which may not be worth pursuing:
On the Hero Skin, the sticky icon is duplicated, not moved...

(BTW, I've updated my skins to include the new sticky icons.) -
Quote:I love you!Maaaaybe...
Sharrow's script only covers the showthread.php page, so you can't just stick it into that one without also telling that one to run on the forumdisplay.php page... So our options are either to keep them as two separate scripts, or to merge them and do some div checking to make sure you're on the right page for a given method (like I do with my var table = document.getElementById('threadslist'); line in my script).
Look how pretty it looks!...

Quote:I changed it to use Diellan's minHeight approach, since I'd noticed the occasional screwy post as well. Nice trick too, I'd not thought of that.
Doesn't quite push the signature down as far, but it shouldn't cause any more layout problems either.
I'm using both your signature shift and Diellan's re-sizer for good effect!
While I'm here, any ideas on how to do what I'm looking for in this post? -
It was fine last night.
I think the problem is all of you. You're slowing my forums and interwebs down.
Get off! -

The next block of code ("Changes width of forums")... um, well, changes the width of the forums! I've made it go as far from side to side as I could figure out how, setting the "page" div layer to 100%.
However, there's still some lingering space on the sides of posts that do not break the layout of the forum. I have no idea where it's coming from. :x
Posts that exceed the width of the standard post only have lingering space on the left side, somehow. The right side goes right up against the edge. (Z_M's first post with the examples, for instance.) -
I've started the correction of all the links.
The new forums number the threads differently, and so, all the old links which point to the wrong numbers from the old forums are broke. I have to manually find where the new thread is and correct its link.
It'll be... maybe a week?
Diving... -
I hate the "Sticky: " prefix. Makes scanning titles difficulty.
So, does anyone know how to make this:

Look like this GIMPd-up image:

Of course, I plan to change the icon itself into something that's not ugly, but I know how to do that on my own. -
I created a new folder called 'read' and moved all the old sent and received messages there to stop that sort of thing.
Also, if you check all and then mark as read, it only marks those in the page that's displayed. You have to go to each page to mark a long list of posts as read. -
No, you're not 'anchored' to the zone you're in. You're anchored to the level of your team leader or the level of the owner of the currently set mission.

Quote:The Midnight Club has a badge test to get in. RWZ has a level test to get in. We know the level test for Hazard Zones are going away, so, a level 1 can walk into RWZ.Wait..! This can't be right...
You will still have level restrictions on when you get the Midnight Arc entrance. Without the midnight badge no access to Cimerora.. without access... no ITF.
Isn't that the same with RWZ..? Then again. RWZ is a known location.. while Cimerora is a secret... a time portal...
The Midnight Club and Cimerora are not technically Hazard Zones. It would be hasty to assume any of the level restrictions on these zones is going away. We just don't know yet.
When the Mission Transporter was allowing level 1 toons to get into Cimerora (now, anyone under 35 is auto-TP'd out), they couldn't join the ITF becuase TFs have their own minimum level requirement. Nowhere in Posi's announcement was there any indication that that was going away. Assume that TFs will remain exactly the way they are except that SSKing will make everyone within one level of each other.
That will remain the same.Quote:I hope a lvl 50 keeps earning inf the same way or even better under this system... They need inf... and cant get any xp in any way ...
I'm pretty sure team-quitters are auto-booted from missions now.Quote:Always could. If a teammate quits the team, they remain on the map until they exit or the holder of said mission sets a new one {at which point they are booted outside}.
The rules for IO Bonuses aren't changing. See here for those rules.
Nothing. They remain the same (presumably, barring an announcement otherwise), except that SSKing will bring everyone to within one level of each other.Quote:Besides that, what will happen to Task Forces, specially ITF?
This is important to remember since it's a theme of many questions: The removal of minimum level for many zones is not a removal of all minimum level requirements in the game. -
If there's a disconnect from the AE server, you lose access to the special goodies you bought to make your AE missions.
You can try re-buying the unlockables from the Ticket Vendor and that should resync you (you won't actually be spending Tickets). -
WRT SuperSidekicking affecting farmers/PLers:
From what I can tell, SSK will affect primarily Bridgers, i.e., those who 'farm' for XP for lowbies by means of a 'bridge' to put the lowbie in the sweet spot for the most XP per kill.
Bridging is not the only PLing tactic. There are others, and so, there will still be PLing.
Bridging is not the only farming. There are other farms for various things: Prestige; Purple drops; influence; badges; etc.... And so, there will still be farming.
In some ways, SSK is a boon to many types of farming.
However, it is most definitely a bridge-killer.
And basically, that's all I think one can say about SSKing: It's an end to bridging and a boon to some other types of farmers. Oh, and it makes teaming in CoH remarkably easy now. -
Quote:You can still do most of that. The team SuperSidekicks to the level of the owner of the mission. If the owner of the mission has outleveled the mission, then everyone on the team has outleveled the mission.Um... I like the idea of this "super sidekicking," but I'm a little concerned about the MANDATORY nature of the change. I liked fighting a couple of levels above what a mission is set for. It's not rare that I'll leave a mission behind and it will be a level or two below me. I don't feel like exemplaring to it, honestly. I also like levelling up mid-mission and suddenly seeing the rest of it become easier. I'm also terribly worried about what this will do outdoor travel, especially with exemparing put into account.
There are only two 'anchors' for the SuperSK: The level of the team leader if no mission is set or the level of the owner of the mission when a mission it set.
So, if a level50 has the star, everyone will be SSK'd to 50 (i.e., 49 if they weren't already 50). If the leader chooses the mission of a level 10 member of the team, then they all exemp/sk to 10. When that happens, Posi didn't say, hopefully only when they enter the mission.
Also consider that if you want to knock out a mission quickly and easily, then set the difficulty slider on its lowest level. With SSKing, no one will ever be more than one level lower than the level of the mission. No more players at -3 or -5 leeching and not pulling their weight. And if you want a challenge, pump up the difficulty slider.
Also another concern is having a high level toon enter your mission to kill an EB you can't handle. That highbie will get exemlared to your level, but, if you've already spawned the map, then it should be easy for two people the right level to clear the map. Or, invite several lowbies to help. You can SK them all now!
No, it's not possible. I tried it. Can't be done. When the Mission Teleporter allowed lowbies into the RWZ, I specifically tried to get a lowbie that badge with that very trick. As I said, only the mission owner gets that badge. And you have to be 35+ to own that mission.Quote:Ahhh...didn't know if anyone has ever even had an opportunity to try and run Levantera's arc at less than 35. I could see it possible that they left it unrestricted since until issue 16 comes out only +35s could get in there so the situation would never occur.
But I thought a possibility is for a +35 character to be on a team with a lower level character, get the mission, and possibly the lower level character get the badge that way enabling Vanguard Merits. At least its sounds like thats possible. I could swear that I've been on teams running that mission before and got the badge without me being the mission owner.
That's the way it is now on Live. If it's going to work any different than that, the Devs will have to purposely change it. Whether they will... I do not know. -
This is a real boon for mothership raids in that it'll take only 10 level50s to SK up an extra 70 players regardless of their level.
OTOH, a level1 SK'd-up to level49 isn't going to do much v. the EBs.
OTOH, only level35+ can do Levantera's arc and get Vanguard Merits, so, it would be perfectly fine for any raid team leader to only accept level35+ players. (And without Vanguard Merits... no Vanguard unlockable weapons or costumes.)
Already covered. Shard... yes. Shard TFs... probably not. No Dev answer yet about minimum TF requirements, so, one should assume they'll stay.Quote:Will this include places like the Shadow Shard? Allowing some of us to get the nifty unlockable weapons early if we can put together a team? Because that, well, that would be just fantastic. RWZ as well...
Posi didn't say the minimum level for TFs were being done away with. So, you might have Imperious refusing to start a TF with someone thats 34 or under.Quote:I just thought of something - ITFs will still be 10+, because Montague Castanella won't give you the Midnighter entry arc until you're 10.
See above. A level 1 toon can walk into the RWZ. But Levantera's arc is for level35+ only. (I know that because the Mission Transporter originally allowed lowbies to bypass the door zone gate and you couldn't start her arc and she only gives the badge to the mission owner.)Quote:The question though is what is the minimum level for Levantera's missions? Before by default it would be 35 because you had to be 35 to enter the zone. Now, with no level restriction to enter, can a level 1 access those missions?
I'd like official confirmation, too. But since it wasn't specifically mentioned, assume the minimum level requirements for TFs are still in place. (If they're not going to let level1s into the Hive for a Hami Raid, I doubt they'll let level1s access to the Statesman TF.) -
Quote:Scooped!Hey I just realized something: With the abolition of the level restrictions for hazard zones, this means that the ability to get a jetpack temp power at level 1 is no longer exclusive to Villains. Rejoice! You can go to the Shadow Shard at level 1 and procure a jetpack of your very own soon!

This is huge for the folks on the Hero side that want to put off getting a travel power or forgo it altogether!

Quote:Thanks Aggelakis! Hope you don't mind, but I lifted your code for my skins.Change the "View Post" Image!
The forum downtime yesterday seems to have fixed a few quirks, including the broken "View Post" image. It's now pointing to the correct (really tiny!) arrow. Well, obviously, I am not a fan of the correct (really tiny!) arrows that they are using :P
http://docs.google.com/View?id=dcv379dz_0d6r8hcgn
They not only fixed this, but they also fixed the reversed colors for the New Thread and New Reply buttons. My Zombie skins reversed them to make them look right. Then, with this fix, they were reversed on my skins. So, I took out the 'fix' on my skins and they appear correctly now on the Zombie Skins.
My skins are now updated (see link in first post) with both these changes.
