Another 'forums blow' thread - Inbox

The 'Private Messages: Unread X, Total Y' thing at the top right of the forums insists on telling me there's one unread message thetre long after I've read the ******* thing.

I like the new forums for the most part, when I'm writing threads, but as a user/reader, I HATE them.

Are the problems being worked on, does anyone know? Is this what we have to accept, or will they improve in time? I'd be slightly happier if i knew for certain that either things are set now, suck it up, or that they're temporary hitches that are going to be addressed.

It counts sent messages as unread if they were ported over from the old forum. I simply deleted mine. lol

I created a new folder called 'read' and moved all the old sent and received messages there to stop that sort of thing.

Also, if you check all and then mark as read, it only marks those in the page that's displayed. You have to go to each page to mark a long list of posts as read.

I simply went into my PM inbox, click on the checkbox that checks all messages and then use the "Mark as read" pull down at the bottom of the page and poof, they no longer appear on my CP page as unread.

I've done all that. This is a recent messGe i received from sb. Ive read it, replied to it, refreshed the pGe while its there, and it reports 'unread o', then next time i return, 'unread 1'.

What browser are you doing this in? Have you tried using a different browser to see if it will accept the markings and keep them when you switch back to the first browser?

I kept having issues with the forums not remembering what threads I'd read, even if I used the Mark Forum Read tool, or double-clicked on the Star for the thread or anything else that should have set the Read flags.

It was also telling me that my last visited date was about 18 hours prior, even though I'd been in and out of the forums most of the day, from different computers, on different networks, and using different browsers and versions of browsers.

I finally got it to "stick" by changing browsers briefly at home and using the Mark Forum Read tool.

I think it just finally got the hint that I really had read all those forums.
