Quote:What was fixed? If you are referring to the auto-hit and self-damage of the first tick, I can assure you that, as of Saturday, August 14th, the blaster version of Burn was not fixed.
Edit: And because I had to check, on the blaster version, the initial tick is still auto-hit and still hits the caster as of two minutes ago.
Oh, my bad...but this sucks. My blaster is the one who's gonna respec into this >.__________________

The data link isn't working for me, can you please post the Data Chunk? I believe I can make a few adjustments on that build to make it better.

Quote:Nah that was fixed a few patches back.Burn is still a pet you drop at your feet. It also still has a decent DoT component. However, a lot of its damage has been moved to an initial hit right as you place the power (and its currently bugged so that initial strike is auto-hit and it hits you too).
For me, personally I'm swapping my Nova out for Burn. I rarely ever use my Nova and I believe I will get a better mileage out of having burn in the build especially since my blaster is also one of my farming toons. With Web Envelop in my aresenal. I can immob mobs around me while all my DoTs and PBAoEs eat them alive (Immob will serve to stop HotFeet and Rain of Fire from scattering mobs). Right now I'm just wishing that there was a way for me to fit Blazing Aura in the build as well, but sadly if I wanna do that I'm gonna have to drop something that I actually want for it =/
And most probably even if I do pick it up, I'm not gonna have enough slots to slot it properly without gimping my defence or recharge. -
Sweet! Thanks a lot this will be awesome.
I'm sad that you're leaving the Mids' team though, you've done us all a wonderful service with that program. I hope you're good on whatever you decide to do. -
My main toon, a Fire/Fire/Cold blaster is most probably switching to Mace Mastery for Web Envolop and Scorpion Shield. Web Envelop + HotFeet + Rain of Fire + Burn on my already effin' crazy AoE damage with Build Up + Aim + Fireball + Fire Sword Circle on crazy recharge just makes me drool. I hardly ever use Hibernate in PvE as is, and I ever so rarely PvP. But still can be fixed easily with a phase shift power from WW.
-
I can't wait for the updated I18 Mids myself. Sooo many new options. My main is a Fire/Fire and he's gonna love those two changes...plus the new PPPs look delicious.
-
Yeah was a bug. You get to keep them. My blaster has been eyeing those new PPPs and drooling for weeks now.
-
Just adding...my main is a Fire/Fire/Cold. He's softcapped on Smashing and Lethal Defences and have insane accuracy, recovery and his recharge is damn good (downtime on Hasten is 10 seconds). While it certainly is not cheap, it's not hard. However, with a recharge time of 151 seconds [on my build at least], Hoarfrost is not a realiable self heal against AVs.
A Fire/Fire blaster wanting to solo AVs is going to have a specific build for it. Because as it's been mentioned before Fire's primary goal is massive AoE damage, and /Fire only augments that reasoning with powers like Fire Sword Circle and HotFeet and Consume. If you want to solo AVs with a Fire/Fire you'll have to skip most of your AoEs (I'd skip Fireball, Fire Sword Circle, Rain of Fire, and of course, the Nova and possibly Fire Breath) and pick up Aid Self and shove as many slots in it as possible. You'll want to max it's recharge, heal, and reduce the interrupt time as much possible to use it on the fly. Personally, I would keep HotFeet and Blazing Aura. Additional damage never hurts. Slot Consume with max recharge and End Mod because you're going to use it a lot. Recharge, you're going to want as much as possible from it...Because you want your Build Up and Aim to be up as often as possible. While you can create an infinite attack chain with your attacks within a reasonable amount of recharge, you'd still want much more for your spike damage providers. I'd also consider slotting the Decimation chance for build up proc in your fastest recharging attack. Regen for a blaster with the Ice Epic is useless, because you while you have softcapped defences, your have next to no resist. And each hit you'll take will HURT. Regen isn't going to help you effectively if you don't have decent resists to back it up.
I would try to work something on Mids right now, but I'm at work. I'll see if I can gather something together when I get home. But regardless, you'll have to keep in mind that even though I know my Fire/Fire blaster inside out, mine is built for insane AoE carnage, not soloing AVs. So the build will have some theoretical aspects to it. -
Quote:^^^ That is 100% QFTMy idea was strictly related to "Status" effects. Actual damage resistance (to me) is balanced just fine, with the possible exceptions of Tough (which IMO is too low for blasters and scrappers) and the Entire Sonic Resonance set (which should protect the defender better, again IMO).
As far as the whole "soft-cap" craze goes, it takes such specific powers and IO sets for anyone that is not ALREADY defense-based to achieve this to 1-2 positions (not to mention a boatload of cash) that I think it should be left alone. Especially, with the fact (as you pointed out) there are so many ways in the game for critters to reduce or neutralize this advantage in a hurry. As far as adding DDR to pools, I dont think so. Its just my personal opinion, but ONLY powersets that depend on Defense to survive should have DDR. -
Making scale defence instead of scale resist would just ruin the set IMO. I'd say what the other said before in this thread. Give it a Max HP Boost, or even some +Regen to actually make the scaling resists worthwhile.
-
Quote:Personally I'm very tempted to agree with you. The only thing that SR has going for it is that it has the highest DDR out of all secondaries. Scaling resists are (IMO) partially useless because even if you get higher resist on lower HP, fact is you have lower HP to take damage anyways, so no benefit outta that unless you build specifically for great Max HP bonuses, which still won't be that much since the bonuses from sets to Max HP aren't that spectacular. I'd go with Shield Defence for a much effective version of a positional defence based power set that has a *LOT* more to offer than SR has. 1) Against All Odds to boost your damage. 2) *some* resist. Even though it's only like 15% it's still constant and stacks nicely with tough. 3) Shield Charge. 4) If you have good recharge on the build putting Membrane Hami-Os in Active defences will allow the DDR from it to actually stack as well, which helps a lot against enemies like Cimeroreans and Long Bow.I think the subject speaks for itself but I suppose I'll explain a bit more. For my first GR toon I was planning on making a DB/SR scrapper (because it seemed ub3r cool
) and then I realized the following; why bother with SR since many secondaries can do what SR can, with the added bonus of other utilities and whatnot, by just IOing it up. I realize it would take a bit more work for other sets to soft cap than SR, however, I feel the point remains valid.
Too bad you can't go DB/SD lol.
For a DB scrapper I would recommend going with /WP though. I've tried DB with SR all the way to 50 and IO'd it out, and while it's a nice combo, my DB/WP scrapper has a LOT more to offer and is much more sturdier than my /SR (built for capped S/L defence and 34% everything else where 1 small purple would softcap me) because he has very high regen, very high max HP thanks to set bonuses and High Pain Tolerance, and he has 50% Resist to Smashing and Lethal. Not to mention /WP is much more easier to level up with than /SR since /SR is such a late bloomer.
EDIT:
Quote:I'd suggest that Super Reflexes' niche is soft cap defense plus capped defense debuff resistance. I can assure you from playing a soft-capped Katana/Dark that having no DDR is a noticeable Achilles' heel.
But with enough influence spent and a probably-unintended Hamio trick, I would suggest that Shield Defense can be made everything Super Reflexes is, and more. So perhaps Super Reflexes is obsolete for multi-billionaire power gamers kitting out an end game toon. Other than that, nah, not really. Super Reflexes is still a good set. -
Quote:Yeah...This pisses me off really since today is the only day of the week I can play freely since tomorrow is my day off. Guh.Dunno about you guys, but I'm gonna re-install Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, and see if I can't get it running in Win 7 64-bit. That seems like a less frustrating pursuit than fruitlessly attempting to log on to Virtue for another 45 minutes.
Gonna play some Mass Effect, hopefully this gets worked out soon. -

Quote:They *always* f something up after each and every major maintenance period...whether or not there's a patch attached. They always royally screw something up. You can count on that much. Kinda makes the name "maintenance period" oddly hilarious.I'm getting "Lost connection to DBServer" on every server I try. It lists the characters for the server I choose, but when I click a character and click Enter... it just sits there until it times out eventually and gives the DBServer dialog.
There have been ongoing problems with all the common servers (login server, chat, market, AE) ever since the 12-hour maintenance last week. It looks like there was some kind of hardware/software reconfiguration that has not been totally successful. -
Same thing here. I logged in for an hour, logged out to change toons and now I can't get back in. Been trying for 30 minutes. Keep getting a "Lost connection to DB server" error.

Quote:Yeah, the Shadow Shard is an interesting zone(s).
Note that if you are a super-speeder or super-jumper (as opposed to a flyer or teleporter), you'll probably want to pick up a temp power jet pack from the vendor there.
Getting around using just the gravity geysers (while fun sometimes) can be a lesson in frustration.
(and the jet pack vendor is relatively new...in the "old days" the SS was rough on non-flyers)
Yeah, I'm very familiar with the Shard (Faathim in 2:10, Dr. Q in 3:20 :P). I just have never tried actual mission arcs there, only the TFs. Thanks though -
Quote:That's not exactly true. What would happen if you had a third command in there as well? There is no way for it to just pick out the commands it wants to run. The + makes the whole command line run twice. Once when the key is pressed, and again when the key is released.
In this case, it may appear like it's only running the teamselect on keypress because the powexec is run simultaneously. Depending on any number of factors, your target may not register on your client at the time the power execution is run, which is why you would have had to run it a second time. Additionally, now that your target is already set from the first run of the command, you wouldn't notice that the teamselect is actually being run again anyway.
It's more noticeable what's going on if you used the "next teammate" bind instead of designating an actual number, but that's part of why I don't like to do it that way. An easier test is simply to string together a whole bunch of text commands and then put the +$$ in front of it. Pressing the key will display all the text twice.
This is also how the SpeedOnDemand binds work.
Example:
/bind W "+forward$$powexecname super speed"
On keypress, the W will make you move forward and activate super speed. On key release, you will stop moving forward and disable super speed. It runs the full command twice, not just part of it.
Very nice info there..thanks a ton. This will help me a lot! -

NUMPAD1 "+$$teamselect 1$$powexecname Speed Boost"
NUMPAD2 "+$$teamselect 2$$powexecname Speed Boost"
NUMPAD3 "+$$teamselect 3$$powexecname Speed Boost"
NUMPAD4 "+$$teamselect 4$$powexecname Speed Boost"
NUMPAD5 "+$$teamselect 5$$powexecname Speed Boost"
NUMPAD6 "+$$teamselect 6$$powexecname Speed Boost"
NUMPAD7 "+$$teamselect 7$$powexecname Speed Boost"
NUMPAD8 "+$$teamselect 8$$powexecname Speed Boost"
*fixed
You shouldn't have to double-tap those. The act of pressing the key and the act of releasing the key with both run the command, reducing the need to hit it a second time.
First time I've seen the + sign used in a bind command...Can you please tell me what it does exactly? -
Alright..basically what I've been doing so far..except that Kora Fruit thing, first time I heard about it. Thanks a lot guys! :-)
EDIT: Wiki'd that...looks very interesting. Need to check that out. -
So..simple question. What's the best way to stock on those? I play mostly squishies so I eat through my small inspirations like crazy.. if there's a good dependable way to stock on mid and big ones that would save me a lot of trouble. so yeah, any ideas?
Thanks. -
Thanks!
