  1. I do have to say that the Fire and Ice APPs both look really really good. Fire has more damage, but sleet looks so incredible. Once they nerf it, then it might be more inline, but until then, it would be really hard to skip sleet. I was looking at a Plant/Thorn/Ice build that had sleet at 17s recharge, and Ice storm at about 37s. Also has Hoarfrost at 145s. It's a slightly expensive build, but not completely retarded, 2 purple sets, but confuse and sleep are cheap.

Focused Burst is really not a very good attack. It's less dpa then quick strike. I guess the range could be useful, and it will take a ranged set, so that can be nice, but as some said, the epic ranged attacks are usually better.

    Brute Maturity

I think your suffering from slightly rosy glasses. /WP brutes are going to be stronger defensively then a scrapper because they have higher base HP, and that is what really matters for /WP.

Now comparing Spines to SS, you are going to see a difference there. Spines gets a good portion of it's AE damage early. So when fighting at higher settings with bigger spawns, you are going to do better on a Spines then a SS pre-32. Super Strength has no AE until footstomp. Once it has footstomp it does just great, but until then, it's really a single target powerset. So if you are comparing SS pre 32 and Spines pre 32, you are definitely going to see a big difference.
  4. It is sometimes hard to see, but it's definitely useful. Not sure if your familiar with Regen, but a fully slotted Integration gives about 250% regen, fully slotted fast healing give 146% or so, combined thats around 400% regen. Suppress Pain, when fully slotted gives about 390% regen, so almost as much regen as in the regen defensive set. So it's definitely worth picking up.
  5. This is a problem, because not only is the supposed resist enhancement not doing anything, your damage enhancement is capping as if it were damage resistance. So with 3 +3 damage SOs, I only have 64% damage enhancement. Instead of the 95% or so I should have.
  6. So I'm going to be upgrading my computer next week. I figured since I will have to reinstall my OS, I may as well move over to Windows 7. I had originally figured to just copy my CoH directory to one of my spare HDs, then do a new install/copy the files back to avoid downloading the files over again. Plus it would save my various settings.

Reason for the post was I was curious if the game versions were different enough between XP and Windows 7 that this might not work. Anyone know if this might be a problem?

    Thanks,

  7. I usually frankenslot attacks at 22, you can usually get some good #s. I go with SOs for everything else til 27, where I can get level 30 common IOs. Then in the low 30's I start to pick up the actual sets I want for bonuses.
  8. The recharge intensive pet sets actually don't have that much recharge in them. Assuming you want the 4 piece bonus, I usually go for all the pieces with recharge, the acc/dam, and then I add a normal recharge and normal damage IO. Assuming level 35 IOs, that gets you about 92% damage and recharge, and you have the 6.25% recharge bonus. If you want the 6 slot ranged defense bonus, then you will end up with about 60% recharge in the power.
  9. To be honest I think building for defense with /Eletric is a waste. You want to stack up recharge, and mabye smashing/lethal resist. Especially for a DM/Elec. You have heals in siphon life and energize, and you want it up as often as possible. You have regen from energize. You have good resist toggles, if you pick up tough it's not hard to get 60% or so S/L resist. Plus the more recharge you have, the more often you can get soul drain up.

Dark Consumption is overkill. Energize already has an end discount buff built in, and you want it up as much as possible. Power sink will easily cover any other end problems you might have. To be honest, I don't think physical perfection will be needed. Power sink refills your end bar every 20-30 seconds or so. With energize up most of the time, and stamina, it's going to be hard to burn through your end that fast. I guess you could try dropping stamina when you get to high levels. Pick up physical perfection instead, but your really just saving 1 power pick, and I would rather have Swift/hurdle + Health + Stam then x epic + Physical perfection.

Looked at your build a it closer, and it does look pretty tough, but still think you would get more benefit from working on recharge more. And it would be cheaper. You don't have hasten, and I know some people don't like it, but it's really nice. Especially if you can get a good amount of global recharge. For example with your current build, you picked a number of sets that give regen bonuses, but energize is only up a bit more then half the time and the healing isn't capped. If you slotted energize better, to cap out healing and recharge you would end up with close to 200% regen most of the time, and a 45% heal every 35-40 seconds. And that is just from that 1 power. It's a trap i fall into myself, I work on set bonuses, without realizing I could get more from just making sure that normal enchanement values are capped.

Yes, this was what I thought as well. Smashing portion is main target only, energy is AoE. The main difference between brute and other versions was that the energy portion was about half the damage, as opposed to the tiny fraction it is for a blaster.

Assuming this is true, at level 50 a scrapper is going to be doing 120 damage to main target, and 60 damage in a 7'AoE. Spine Burst is 56 +0-4 tickets of 6 damage. And it's a 15' AE. So Thunder Strike doesn't really compare with Spine Burst as an AE damage power. However that doesn't mean it's a bad power, it does do ok damage, and while the AE is kinda small it's still useful, and the knockdown is also nice.

Thunder Strike is better compared with Whirling Sword from BS. It's better damage to main target, slightly less damage in AE, since WS has that DOT, but longer activation and recharge.

If for some reason this has been changed in the move from Brute to Scrapper, then Thunder Strike is a pretty nice AE, small, but good damage. However I don't think this is likely. Be aware, it has never been clearly defined what parts are AE and what parts arent in the power info, only way to tell is to test it on live targets at it were.
  11. Electric armor has higher resist values on it's shields then most of the other resist sets. While this isn't enough in an of itself, it's something to keep in mind. On a brute for example, Electric shields are a base 26% while most shields are 22%. Not a ton, but is an extra 6% or so with slotting. Electric also has nice end drain resistance, and has slow resist in LR. And once you get power sink you will never have and end issues.

However I had an electric brute, and it did seem a bit squishy to me. Butthis was before the change from Conserve Power to Energize. Energize is on a long timer, but with LR and slotting and some global recharge it shouldn't be too bad. I just did a quick calc, and with LR, 95% from slotting and 25% global, your at 50 seconds recharge, which isn't bad, especially since the buff is 30 seconds. It's not Healing Flames, but better then nothing. Kinda tempted to try an /Elec myself.

I am planning a Grav/Energy for after i15 comes out that is going to be primarily ranged. I will likely pick up Total Focus cause it's just that good. But with lift, and the new power push plus all the energy ranged attacks you can get a pretty nice ranged chain rather early. Propel is still just too slow so I'm skipping that.
