Ok another question, what is with teaming now? It auto sidekicks and auto exemplars everyone to the level of the leader? Is there a way to turn this off?
Its just fairly annoying if I want to lead a task force because it puts everyone on my level so if I am not at the max of the TF it puts everyone at a disadvantage. Do exemplars still not get exp? -
Been playing a new character while I wait for Issue 21 and had some questions:
1) Does Praetoria have any hidden contacts? (Like in COV that can be unlocked)
2) Exactly how many contacts are there in Praetoria that a character can get? NOTE: Not the total amount but assuming you don't out level a contact how many can you experience?
3) I have notice that on some of the contacts (Loyalist) it says about reporting back to Calvin Scott if you are a Resistance, do Resistance members get the exact same contacts as Loyalists? Or do they get any different story arcs?
4) With the branching system, do the choices lead to different contacts or can you experience them all in one play through?
5) Does Ouroboros allow you go to back and do the other arcs in Praetoria? Or can you do your own arcs again?
6) How does Ouroboros work in regards to side switching? Once you side switch does it unlock all the arcs for the other side?
7) Lore about Praetoria... I may have leveled too fast but it seems like I only got pieces of the Praetoria storyline. (Not asking for spoilers) I encountered Maelstorm just once and haven't seen the Demon Summoning girl. Did I miss arcs or are their stories more fleshed out? -

Sadly I was having this issue before I upgraded my drivers, I thought perhaps it was caused by the fact I had older drivers.
Here is a screenshot of the crash and the text it gives:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Does anyone know how to solve this? -
My video drivers are updated as I checked NVidia.com yesterday but I am still constantly crashing. The two most noticeable times are when I:
1) Exit a mission -- The game will crash once it reaches the outside world. Sometimes a box pops up saying the game has used too much memory.
2) When I enter the enhancement screen, this occurs when I double click the "enhancement" button on the powers tray or if I go to level up at a trainer.
NOTE: This is happening in Praetoria I am not sure about the other areas.
Any advice on how to alleviate this or are other people having this issue?
I have a Q6600, 4 gigs of ram, and a Geforce GTX 470 although I do run Vista... -
Quote:And that same person go the Bug Hunter badge... was he the first? I believe he might of been.Did you know that you could escape the terrain fairly easy back in the day? This is was fixed when a group of over 20 players (#s not guaranteed to be accurate) escaped the War Walls and began heading towards the sun. The Devs caught all but one fairly quickly, but that one made it 50 miles towards the sun before he was caught. Teleportation also let people get under the arena, and other places as well. One place that I discovered didn't require teleportation were various stores throughout Paragon City. For example, the natural (just 'Store' on the map), had a hole that you could jump through and land behind the counter, an off limits spot for players. By repeating jumping you could get inside, and then eventually outside the building into the black nether space surrounding it. I have a character parked next to one of the stores just for old times sake.
Did you know that character used to be able to cap damage without outside buffs? That's right, old school Hami-Os could enhance a power up by 50% in two or three attributes, and when you get six Dam/Acc Hami-Os into a power it would bring you to the damage cap of 400% (for some ATs, though the may all have been capped at this rate back then). This made the game trivial because even BU and Aim wouldn't help your damage. I actually think that with ED in place we should go back to the old school numbers.
That's all I have for now, but I've sure I'll think of more.
Did you know that for one very brief moment in time Peacebringers were the most OPed AT in the game's history? For a very short amount of time, there was a bug that allowed PBs to slot an infinite number of enhancers in their attacks, bringing them to much higher than the damage cap. A PB reportedly hit the ACTUAL damage cap, the amount of damage that is hard-capped as the maximum amount possible to deal (IE, even with 10^99 damage bonus you wouldn't deal more). This allowed said PB to two shot Hamidon. Needless to say, this was fixed quick and PBs were forced by karma to be the weakest AT in the game since. -
Quote:Yep I remember that on my DM/Regen Scrapper way back when. I was fighting the Crey Bosses that use the AOE shield ability from the Forcefield set and my miss rate was so high... or when the Sky Pirates used their shield generators..If an attack does smashing damage and energy damage, your smashing resistance resists the smashing damage and your energy resistances will resist the energy damage. But the defenses you can use have nothing to do with that. The attack itself has attack typing, which is the same thing as defense typing. If the attack is typed Smashing_Attack you can use your smashing defense against it. If the attack is typed Energy_Attack you can use your energy defense against it. If the attack is typed both you can use the better of the two.
And incidentally, "Smashing Defense" is the same thing as "Smashing attack type" - both are the same Attribute which is Smashing_Attack. That's what you buff when you buff what players call "smashing defense."
Just to add a bit of Did You Know: Did You Know that this was not how the game was originally programmed? Originally, if an attack was typed Smashing_Attack and Energy_Attack the target didn't use the *better* of the two defenses, the target used *the sum* of both defenses.
Today, we think scrapper melee sets that are all smashing or all lethal have a disadvantage to sets like Dark Melee which have substantial non-smash/lethal damage. But Did You Know that when the game was launched with the above rule, the players quickly realized that Dark Melee was at a strong *disadvantage* because while a set like Katana only had to deal with Lethal defense, Dark Melee had to deal with the combination of Negative defense *and* Smashing defense. Just try to hit something that had, say, a dispersion bubble up which had defense to both.
The devs eventually decided this behavior was not intended, and changed it to the "use the single best defense you can" rule we have today. -

When the new issue goes live I plan to create a new character. I haven't played Praetoria yet but I also know the new issue is adding a new tutorial and revamps of the starting areas. If you played beta where would you recommend starting? I know the game pretty well but curious what you would recommend and why.
On another note, I have some new people joining the game since the 2 dollar sale is going on. Its great to get some friends in, but I've told them not to play until the new issue goes live since it will change so much. In the new issue, are breakout and outbreak completely gone? -
Did you know Gravity used to not have Singularity and instead had a power called "Fold Space?" It basically summoned the entire team to you.

Quote:Doesn't really show who the new powers lead nor does it say their forum names?

Since most of the developers I knew are gone (Castle, BAB, Pohsyb etc) who are these names I am seeing? Who is the new powers guy? New animator? Etc.
I see JLove is still around... -

This is one of the few parts of the game I haven't played with yet and I have done a lot of reading about but I am still left with a few questions.
1) What exactly can effect Incarnate powers? From what I read no buffs can effect them, does this apply to debuffs? What about something like the -dmg crash at the end of rage?
2) Are Incarnate powers modified by AT modifiers? IE a Blaster's range modifier is 1.0, a Tanker's melee modifier is .8, a brute's melee modifier is .75... etc.
3) What is the typical recharge time on these powers? Pets. the attacks, and the buffs?
4) Can they be slotted or enhanced at all?
5) I understand partially how they are built and I realize there are different "ranks" sort to speak, are you able to buy all the materials for the final rank or must you build each rank? -
Just got my code, not bad

Quote:What about this nova fist attack?a - When hit with an attack that is a OHKO, you are left with 1 healthpoint.
b - The pulse attack happens every thirty seconds in Keyes, and deals 50% of your health + % of how much health Anti-Matter has currently. The more AM is damaged, the more damage the pulse does. You can heal up in the thirty seconds before the pulse happens again. -
I haven't played the Incarnate stuff yet since that was after my time. I will give it a shot once Issue 21 goes live and I roll my /regen Brute...
Anyways, two questions:
1) Is the one shot mechanic still in place? There used to be a mechanic where if you took a one shot you were always left with 1 hp.
2) In the case of this AOE you are referring to, is the AOE dealt out in pulses in order to cancel out the one shot rule? IE damage dealt every .5 seconds for 1.5 seconds or something? -
What exactly happens if you side switch and you are a leader of a SG? Are you demoted down and someone else is automatically promoted? Or do you maintain your position but just simply lose access to SG mode, base, etc. Are you still able to use the chat channel?

Quote:Same exact thing when I first created an Energy/Energy Blaster, I kept running into melee because Power Thrust looked sweet. I then wanted to blast people at point blank range thinking it would do more damageGreat idea for a thread. Not sure if I can narrow it down to just one influtential player though.
My 1st creation was my main Energy/Energy Blaster. I knew nothing about MMO's though and it was quite the learning curve. Around level 24 I was just about ready to give up and quit. I came to the forums seeking advice and discovered an entire world of answers.
I was doing it wrong.
SnipeFu, without knowing it, kept me playing for 7 years.
It was his original Eng/Eng guide that taught me how to properly play a Blaster. That I wasn't supposed to stand my ground and fight like a tank.
In my head, Heroes don't run. So I played my Blaster like that...
I learned from his guide and others on here about LoS and tactical retreat etc etc.

Well with Issue 21 around the corner I wanted to start a trip down memory lane by asking who has influenced you over the years in this game? We all started somewhere and where we started may be a lot different then where we are now. Let me start:
When I started the game the game the first character I created was a MA/SR Scrapper... which back in Issue 0 was fairly bad. MA had very long animations (Old Storm Kick...) and SR was very tough to solo with. I remember walking into a bunch of 5th Column thinking whoa who are these guys in Atlas Park. I didn't look at their levels since I was level 5 or 6 at the time and I proceeded to get owned. (And I got debt too back before the debt level was raised to 10) Now I realize that they were a left over ambush that attacked a high level person and they were left there. (Ambushes used to occur in Atlas Park, now they don't)
Anyways, I deleted that character thinking the sets were horrible and started to play around with other AT's and combo's. From Blasters to Controllers to defenders and to tankers I tried them all. I finally landed on a Spines/Regen Scrapper which I seemed to enjoy for the time being that I got to a "high" level 16... I still had a lot of trouble especially with those pesky outcasts in Steel Canyon because for those unaware Regen at the time had all of its power in IH which was a toggle. Integration did not provide any regeneration.
Ultimately, I found myself spending a lot of time on the forums trying to find the best build. I remember seeing a thread on Fire/Dev Blasters and how they were gods and tried that out but didn't like it. Smoke bomb was bugged and quickly corrected it basically floored a group's to hit so it was like being defense capped.
It was at this point I remember watching a few videos by a guy named "The Confessor." This guy had several Scrappers DM/Invul, DM/Regen, and I believe BS/Regen or Invul. Back then Scrappers had tanker caps (90% res, etc) and his videos showed him soloing Arch Villains. DM's Soul Drain could hit unlimited amount of people (Same with Invincibility) thus he would surround himself with a bunch of minions being at the defense cap and with Soul Drain put himself at the damage cap.
He was completely owning Arch Villains. He also showed the same with Regeneration this was when Instant Healing was a toggle and the full 800% heal could be enhanced. With no ED a Scrapper could get around 2500% regeneration with 6 slot heal enhancers. (Although it drained a LOT of endurance to be kept running, originally this was suppose to be the downside but people slot endurance reducers in it which is why it eventually got nerfed)
It was from that day fourth my mind was blown. I didn't think those boundaries could be broken. When I saw what was possible I vowed to try and find ways to go beyond what was considered the impossible.
With each nerf or change to the game, I wanted to show just how far a min/max build could bend the rules of "reality."
My Influence

I know you can save a costume but is it possible to save body sliders? IE height and other sliders?

Unless its been changed, it used to be just slot 3 SO recharges in it and its Perma.
