As of right now I own 459M Infamy, after market fees, worth of Respec Recipes. I will let you know how much these are worth in two weeks.
I like this move a lot. However, it butchered my schemes.

Heheh. Maybe they noticed your stash!

Eeeh I wouldn't go that far Tripp, but one of my wishes always was that there would be events, precipipated by the Developers, that would affect the markets.
For example, crashes due to sudden availability of items, either ingame or out, or to events. Maybe an increase in some of the Pool C drops lamented by many as being too rare.
Anything that shakes me, as an occasional marketeer, out of my comfort bubble is a good thing.
Remember folks:
Everything ingame is property of NCSoft and you are renting it from them. No room to complain if ingame items lose or gain worth at any point, it's their items.

Heheh. I'm an amateur Ebil Marketeer, so actually I just envy Smurphy's treasure trove. But I couldn't resist throwing a marshmallow at the most infamous of us all. -

why would you do that though. why pay 2/3rds of a monthly fee for something you could earn the cash for in less than a week? (less than a day if you want to)
I understand why they'll make this option available but still, why do this when you can earn it easily in the game?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because some people don't feel they CAN earn it easily in the game. This gives them an alternative. That doesn't violate the EULA. -

Wow. I honestly never thought I'd see this.
Yet I cannot see a problem with it. $10 is enough to keep it from being casually used, yet if you've got a character so badly "gimped" that you cannot wait for a respec from another source, you have the option.
I know that I have a couple of toons that I shelved until I got my 9 month badge (and the I12 freespec, which came out about the same time). If this had been available, I think I probably would have bought one.
Questions about the mechanics:
Do you choose which character it's applied to at the time of purchase? Or do you purchase it, then log into a character and give it to that character?
Can it be applied to a character, and then that character copied to the test server multiple times to test different build options? -

LOL! Absolutely delicious in its wickedness!
More tips:
Completing the Invention Tutorial quickly enough will unlock the Teacher's Lounge.
Monkey Island has a hidden badge and temporary "Summon Ruin Monkey" power. Click on the Rikti Monkey that cons blue to unlock it.
There is no Cake. Only Pie.
During a Rikti Invasion, you can travel through the War Walls.
-
You all are going to have to buy me a new pair of pants to replace the pair I ruined when I saw the title of this thread in the "Active Topics" list.
-
The Cake is a Pie.
The Nemesis Plot is in Dark Astoria.
Turn off all travel powers when doing a "Take this to . . ." mission for extra experience points.
Getting a character to level 3 before you leave the Tutorial will unlock a special archetype when that character reaches level 50. -
I may have misunderstood, but my impression after wading/skimming through the whole thread was that they were talking about a log/digest of moderator/developer actions in the game, such as banning accounts, tackling cyberstalkers, etc.
Since it's entirely possible that I misread it or misremembered what I'd read so much higher, then if it was talking about forum activities, I agree, the "Thread locked for necroposting", or "Thread deleted by [name] for rule violations", etc. are much more useful. -
Whew!
Waded through the whole thing, and I have a couple of comments I think will be useful:
A mod/ban digest or summary published regularly would help with the impression some people get of "but they aren't DOING anything about it". Sometimes people feel that certain problems aren't being addressed because we (as is appropriate) don't get feedback about a reported incident/violation. Things I'd personally be interested in would be "X accounts banned for spam/rmt violations", and anything that's on the upswing and we should be aware of. I don't want actual identification of the violators, or course, but I feel that some kind of feedback that things are being addressed would be a positive thing.
/signed: although the game and the forums are not a democracy, there is a huge difference between a post of an idea that gets only one or two responses, and one that gets 27 "/signed!". The first appears to have no interest at all to anyone, positive or negative, while the second is obviously VERY appealing to a large number or people.
Therefore, I think there is a place for the simple, succinct post that says in a single word "I like this idea, and would very much like to see it happen, exactly as is, with no changes." Prohibiting "/signed' seems to me to mean that I may not even express agreement with an idea unless I have something to add to it that has not been expressed in the previous posts. I realize that that is probably not the intent, but it is how it feels.
Thanks! -
or maybe some combination of pattern and colors on the legs might look kind of "hairy"?
-
<deep, respectful bow>
Samuraiko-sama, thou art truly a master. -
WUPS! Got caught up in the idea...didn't notice how old it was.
It's still brilliant! -
Just discovered this idea. Read the original post, skimmed the rest, so forgive me if I overlooked something:
This is FRAKKIN' BRILLIANT!
I'm not a PVP'er. I will probably never be a PVP'er. It just doesn't appeal to me.
THIS, however might actually get me to try PVP. I don't want to build my character for PVP and have him be handicapped in PVE, because that would still be the majority of my play. Having an alternate build is an excellent solution to that.
Having alternate versions of the various missions for non-PVP players is also excellent. And as described, they appear to be enough harder than doing them in PVP mode to keep it balanced. (You want a Shivan? You don't want to PVP? Get a team. It probably wouldn't be hard to find some like-minded folks!)
Even if I never tried PVP this way, it would still enhance the game immensely. I agree that it would be like new zones opened up.
Outstanding idea, well presented. This is definitely a Good Thing.
(And "capture the flag with a particularly slow and stupid flag" made me laugh!) -
Ahem...I believe the phrase is "W00T!"
I expect to get my first 50 out of it. If ATARU doesn't hit 50 before then, that will surely do it.
Already arranging my "gottado"'s so I don't have to do any that weekend. Now, do I want to burn a day of vacation time so I can play Friday, too?
(Watch -- I'll do that, and then the servers will crash all day Friday! *knocks wood*)
Oh yes, I am most definitely down with the street for a double XP weekend! -
Haven't done this in over a week now. Man, I'm jonesing!
Okay, so there're two basic "beat Romulus to a bloody pulp" strategies:
1. Somebody draws the healing nictus out of range of Rommie so it can't heal him. That person gets a support toon if needed. Everyone else just beats on Rommie three times, dealing with the ambushes and the resurrection mezzes as they happen. Then everybody beats him down the fourth time.
2. The simpler strategy seems to be just everybody beats on Rommie four times, dealing with the ambushes and the resurrection mezzes as they happen. Not as fast as 1, but simpler.
That sound about right? -

Edit: and apparently I'm not the only one! (I really should read the whole thread before I post!) -
[ QUOTE ]
I stand corrected.
I checked with our Engineering team to make sure that this is accurate. I didn't want to state something and then have to correct myself again.
1) If a player logs in during the two free character slot "gift" window, then those slots are placed in player's character slot inventories. Character Slots within your inventories can never be removed, even after the gift window closes.
2) If a player NEVER logs in during the character slot "gift" window, the window closes, then any new or re-activated player will never get the two free slots.
Please note that the free two slots are only being given to "active" accounts that Log into the game during this gift window. If your account is active, but you've never logged in, you're not getting your two free slots when the window closes.
3) Once a character slot (via Veteran Reward, free gift or purchased slot) is placed within a Player's Inventory, then the order in which they redeemed is irrelevant.
When we decide to end the two free character slot window, we will give advance notice.
[/ QUOTE ]
Final point of clarification then, please:
I have two "Redeem Slot : 2 Left" at the bottom of my character selection screen (because I logged in during the window -- I don't have any vet reward slots, I haven't been playing that long). I haven't redeemed them because I don't need them (yet).
Are you saying I need to redeem those before the window "closes" or that they'll still be there waiting to be redeemed even after that?
All the references to "slots" seem to me to refer to redeemed slots. I just want to verify that this also applies to the unredeemed "tokens" (if you will), that "slots in a player's inventory" includes unredeemed ones.
Thank you, and I apologize if I'm being more obtuse than normal. -

I just can't get excited about this.
I feel like these invasions happen too often. I feel like they go on way, way too long. But more importantly, this long after issue 10, I feel like they happen way, way too pointlessly.

Seconded. Getting tired of the whole Rikti thang.

Posting for balance: I love them! -
Wonderful story. Enjoyed 99.999% of it. My only complaint is an esthetic one -- PLEASE use text colors with more contrast. My eyes aren't what they used to be, and purple on blue is REALLY hard to read. And I really want to read more of Energon's adventures!
OTOH, the story was engrossing enough to get me to wade through all that purple text. You can take that as high compliment.
I found it today, read it in one sitting, and am SO glad the story was complete. Patience is not one of my strengths. Having to wait for the rest of the story would have been TORTURE!
Good work! -
Something I recently "discovered"/learned that affected my power choices:
Water is not a travel obstacle. You can jump/Super Jump across water, and Super Speed turns into Super Swim. -
Wow.
I wanted to say so much more. I wanted to express how much this enriched my perception of the King, Paladin, even Babbage.
I wanted to express that this should be made canon. That it will forever change my experience in the CW story lines. That it brought so much depth to those stories.
But all I can say is . . .
Wow. -

If anybody's curious about how rearranging characters on the character select screen works, I created a short video off the test server. Hope it enlightens you.

Just saw this from a thread on Ascendant-O's. Deserves to be kept alive (so to speak).
Awesome.
