Or... they could create a new Patron. That would be 25-30ish new powers... wait... I don't think that's better.

Let's not bring this to a false dichotomy here. There are far more than two reasons to run a TF.

    • For the badge/accolade
    • For the story/experience
    • As a way to hang out with friends
    • As a challenge (soloing TFs, etc.)
    • Sense of accomplishment
    • Completionism (aka as an item on a checklist of goals)
    • Etc.
Personally, I run TFs for the badges, and I used to run a weekly TF so that I had an excuse to spend an hour or more with my in-game friends, I didn't care about merits or XP really (they were a nice bonus). At this point, I run them to say I have done them. I like to have accomplished all of the "normal" game content and am slowly working at badging. I have done several TFs for no XP at all in the past (with 50s and before i16) and continue not to give a crap how many merits I get to this day.

  7. They are not in there. *crosses fingers they are in GR* It was strongly hinted at that some of the mutant-y pieces we have wanted forever were coming... but I have to say that I (and many others) assumed that this would be the place.

Regardless, the stuff that is in the pack DOES look fantastic!

If you are going to assume anything (and one pretty much has to about a lot of things) than this is probably one of the safer ones to come by.

  10. That's the annoying thing about the +KB Protection IOs. One will grant 4 pts. of protection, which will help versus a lot of things. But for what that doesn't fix, you will need 3 for (a.k.a. having 8 pts. won't help).

This case is a classic example.

LOL. IMO, too bad, so sad. I don't see how anyone assumed that:

E-mail system = infinte banking storage

The system was put into place as a means to send information to other players and oneself. It wasn't intended to be used as a storage depot. You know what they say about assuming, roight? Also, where do you suppose the Devs would have a server sitting around that can store all of this information? If the thing was set up like a post office, than there would be no reason to allocate the GBs it would take to keep track of all that stuff. It's an issue of practicality on their part.

Abigail: Just to clarify, you are telling us that you went to the aforementioned support site BEFORE you sent any e-mails to make sure that what you were doing was safe? And that there was no time-period restriction?
  12. That was one of my favorites too!

I locked my gate, guess its gonna have to be destroyed, if I ever want to enter my yard...

Lock Scope attachment mechanism to the rifle by tightening set screw...

Could it be possible, just possible, that lock is not a terminal type thing, but just a temporary state?

I produce a key from pocket and unlock my house door or gate, I screw-off the retainer screw from my rifle's scope...

So Forbin, could you agree for every lock there is essentially a key, and thus the thought of being able to remove an enhancement off a power does not have to be so repulsive?

    Stormy
It is interesting that you bring up this argument of a "key" for each "lock." (I won't get into your quite extreme door-explosion example.) This assumes, that you (the player) own both the lock and the key for each enhancement. When I think about "locking" an enhancement in place, I think about you putting something in a crate, and putting a lock on the box. It isn't your lock, you don't have the key. It sticks there until it gets replaced by a new crate and a new enhancement. That's right, you throw away the whole crate, and it gets destroyed... now no one can use it.

There is one exception to that: the respec. Which, if you recall was something that the Devs put into this game by player request. AKA, the Devs gave you a one-time use key to open up all those locked crates. After all, the crates are theirs, and the locks are theirs and the keys, too, are theirs. All the player gets to own, are the enhancements (that is until they lock them away) and the effects of same.

  18. I don't know that any of the Pools will get you "screwed in PvE." There is little in PvE that is anything close to hard... and of the things that are, there are none that require you to have a Patron Power at all, much less a specific one!

(click power on a longer recharge, not toggle so you dont make ninja run and this the new travel power to have instead of level 14 powers, also if possible put the player in a run stance where you run on all fours)
Hmmmmm. I don't really see this as being that useful... there are very few enemies in PvE that are stealthy, and I can't imagine it would be fair to get a rather large advantage in PvP by spending real-world currency. I say no to the +Perception portion. Perhaps the power could just include a "beastial stance"?

    2) NPC Costume pack
This isn't going to happen. Many NPC pieces are not compatible with player bodies for a number of reasons, so all of those are out. Besides that, the Devs have stated that they would prefer that unique NPC pieces stay that way.

NO! Absolutely not in a Booster Pack. Something as basic as hair should be in a free expansion.

Now this one I could get behind. I can see it being in the same vein as some of the current packs. Perhaps a Technology Pack Mark II?

Locate Target: Power can be only used inside a mission and it teleports you directly next to one of the required objectives of the map and placates them (if a boss) and his allies for a few seconds, if the target is an object it wont attempt to placate. Very long recharge.
Inside Information: After clicking the power, the entire map in area becomes visable and removes the fog of war effect.
Assassin pack, eh? Like the last one, this seems a bit like a Natural Pack Mark II... that seems fine to me. However, the power is a no-go as far as I am concerned. Number one, I don't think it is technically possible to use teleport like that. Maybe it is, but I can't imagine so. And no, it is not just like the [Mission Teleporter] from the Mac Pack (did you notice how it does NOT work for mission objectives that aren't doors? Well there is a reason for that). As for the second part, the FoW Clearing? Also a no from me, that is already a vet reward and should NOT be able to be bought.

Meh, I think those would be okay. The harpoon power seems a bit boring but, it could work. I like the idea of the swimming one.

Also, it is NOT next to impossible to create a costume of an aquatic character. I have seen many that have impressed me.

If we are to get jewelry, I would think that it should be free and for everyone. If you want to have stupid rapper themed jewelry, that can get wrapped up in a Booster Pack... one I won't bother to spend money on, but I would love to have jewelry available to my characters.

    8) Prehistoric Themed Pack
Not sure on this one. Dinosaur heads should be a part of the aforementioned animal pack you suggested, and what pieces are you suggesting for caveman? A club and toga? We already have a few suitable clubs as mace customizations, and one costume item (a ratty toga made of an animal hide) does not a Booster make.

    Base Items Booster Pack
No. If new items are to be given to SGs, they should be free and given to everyone.

P.S. I too hate the "plum" color. It is hard to read in large chunks. And if you say there was nothing constructive in this post... well, then I guess we have differing definitions of what that term means.

  21. I ran this Trial with a HUGELY capable 8-man team... I think we finished with a ton of time to spare. However, it wasn't easy and required vast amounts of communication, above and beyond what any other set of missions has ever required for anything in the rest of the game (granted I have never run the Eden Trial). And yes, the no map bit is quite annoying... especially when one considers just how unique the map is.

I am all for it being slightly altered (level, etc.) to make it easier to do in a PUG situation. Yes, it is a Trial, but, the concept of a Trial being a separate variety of TF/SF pretty much went the way of the dodo before CoV even came out.

That is often the case, yes (or so it would seem)... but then there is the case of the DSM III-R that removed homosexuality as a diagnosable mental condition... but this isn't really the thread to get into that. In fact, I have likely said too much already.

    I'm confused!

I think there was a similar thread started on the NA (I didn't bother to find it) but it seemed likely to be a scam. Best bet is to report it to NC, and do nothing else with it.
  24. Hmmmm.

When it comes to my villains, we have a full range of alignments and concepts. Everything from what amounts to a more unscrupulous Batman-type all the way to an ancient malevolent entity trapped in the body of an unfortunate scientist (the scientist is desperately struggling to maintain his sanity and evict the "tennant"... with little success). I also have a character who is basically a scorned Cobra Commander.

Most of my villains fall into a somewhat middle-ground. They do what they do, and that's that. Revenge, wealth, power or just hedonism motivate them. None of them are really out to destroy the world... though the one demon may be, it is hard to say because he doesn't speak English and has done little but slay those who happen to be in his way... it's just that no one knows really where he is going.

A quick FYI on psychological terminology. MPD (or multiple personality disorder) was not all that long ago renamed to Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Same disorder, same incredibly rare rate of diagnosis, different name. It fits it better, in my opinion, and also helps people remember what classification of mental disorder it is: a dissociative disorder.

Also, by "psychotically insane," I am going to assume that you mean the character has Antisocial Personality Disorder (aka a sociopath/psychopath... both terms are somewhat obsolete, BTW.

You may now continue with the thread, already in progress.

One dead-horse counterargument does not make his statement false. Try again. There is literally an entire thread dedicated to player suggestions that have gotten into the game.

One example that springs to mind:

Some of these chest symbols made it into the game, they were all created by a player. http://home.comcast.net/~uberrod/images/newemblems1.gif

Though it is not the best example in the universe, it is a true and accurate one.
