Quote:Well, when you think about it, the fact that the AE building is empty isn't very odd at all.Captain_Photon: I guess then you missed AE building full to bursting with players. Because, now, they are *EMPTY*. That is what I meant by murdering it. Sure, it's still a GREAT system. It works fine. There's great stuff on it amongst the crud...but it's empty. You are bringing a team in there with you, or you are soloing now. There's no more just poking your head into the building and getting 5 invites in 3 minutes. I liked that.
To illustrate why I say this:
Go to a random mission door in Talos. How many people are gathered there? No one, you say? Why should AE be any different?
A second example. Go to a random trial or TF/SF contact. How many people are clustered there, spamming broadcast? Very few to none, you say? I think I am seeing a pattern. -
You can always tell who is fairly new redside when that mission comes up. All the confused ones haven't seen it happen. It is so reliable, that when I played lowbie characters on red more often, I had a little speach before I even set the mission. (Kinda like my little speach before a Mayhem mission to prevent some random dude from farkling up the ambushes.)

Quote:Did it occur to you that you are getting those replies because what you are trying to do is both not possible (AoE-focused Healer) and ridiculous (having a controller focus only on healing).Hey, I'm pretty angry that I got 19 replies and 18 of them weren't really helpful. And I hope you all realize you're ripping on Jesus here.
As has been pointed out, Healing is of limited utility... whereas Control and Buff/Debuff are of incredible utility. In fact, if those last three things get done properly, one would (nearly) invalidate a need to do the first thing! -

Quote:Well, considering I have never seen a post from you before... I was not inclined to just go with ya because you said so. Pardon me for wanting to fact check.I wouldn’t waste your bandwidth with untruths on the topic of the costume generator, I consider it my domain. Always trust me in at least this.
Quote:You could also call the missing travel power Parkour… or perhaps Parkour Hardcore.
Quote:Anyway, the days of having to stretch this far creatively are long long gone. Hey, I can pull arrows from an invisible quiver, shoot flames from a super soaker and pretend an orange gasmask is a duck-bill all day long…

Quote:I guess I'm just freaking tired of people asking for things in CoX because Champeons, WoW, etc. already "did it." Can't people want things in CoX for the sake of wanting something in CoX? It's gotten to the point where, regardless of the context, if a thread has CO in it I just walk away. Seriously, there must be more discussion of CO over here than there is over there. -
Quote:It just goes to show ya that these boards =/= the real game in so many ways.Same here.
But on this board, it gets brought up a ton, often hiding whine threads as 'suggestions'. I play not only almost exclusively PUGs, but usually the toons often cited as knockback aggressors. It doesn't come up in gameplay as long as the team even mildly works together on the issue.
These kinds of stealth whine threads are just comical at this point. -

Quote:In over two years, I remember only maybe 3 times when a team mentioned not liking KB as anything other than a passing remark... and in those situation, twice the person left/was kicked and in the other was the leader's friend and continued to complain the rest of the mission. And yes, that is about the level of rationality I would expect, at least on the majority of PuGs I've been on where KB has been transformed into some giant issue.
It's really not. And giving people the means will just lead to less tolerance.
It is that last part of the quote that gets me confused... I just simply have not seen much hate for ANY particular aspect of the game turn up in real gameplay. Whether that be KB, rocking auras, etc. And I PUG almost exclusively. -
Quote:Probably never. My question is when are going to get player costume pieces similar to the Jumpbots and Mek Men?
Devs have stated in the past that they want to maintain some level of uniqueness in NPC design, and I would imagine parts like that were designed in that vein. -

Quote:True. Will look for the post unless someone has already found it.Okay so an acquaintance in global chat said that in an upcoming patch, when the number of enemies on a map gets less than 10%, the remaining enemies will show up on the minimap, to make Defeat All's easier. They also said glowies would show up on the map.
Now I know players have talked about this for a long time, but I don't recall hearing this from a dev. Is this confirmed, or wishful thinking? -
Quote:Suggestions foru oh, ummm... yeah. Before I begin let me request for no sugestion forum thataway's -->. These are some things I have seen around the forums or have thought of myself. Also before I begin I would like to know what you all think of my (and other's) ideas that I am requesting here. (in other words tell me what you think.)
Quote:1. Would it be possible to have a WW or black market access pannel in sg or vg bases. Why? Well it would cut the occasional lag at WW (I know, not very often, but still.) It would allow you to buy recipies and salvage then craft it in your base (to sell for more or slot). And it would be a handy tool.
Quote:2. Instead of a vault being a personal salvage storage, make it an inf. storage. Why? Well salvage can be stored and sold on the market. Sometimes it would be nice to store inf. and then withdraw it when needed. Also if it was account-wide you could store inf. and then get it with another toon, or with another toon on a different server.
Also, one can already store as much Inf. as they want on the market. Simply place a bid on an item that doesn't exist. There, instant Inf storage. Also, transferring influence/infamy is also possible... it's called use the Market, or get friends who will loan $$ across servers.
Quote:3. I had a 3 but I forgot it.
Quote:4. For you all to tell me what you think. -
Ahhh, Goya's El Saturno, how decidedly evil.
I learned about that one in Spanish class in HS... -
Ummmm, what? Just what variety of response are you looking for here?
-
While I know this to be true, I forget WHY people didn't like the idea. Most everything else in this game lends itself to easy player-side customization... why would it be bad to "gimp" oneself by reducing your effective mitigation?
-
NATURAL CLAWS -- There are issues with this that BaB has discussed in the past. Many folks want this, and if it were easy, you'd think it would have been done when Weapon Customization debutted.
MONSTROUS FUR LOWER BODY -- Ummm, I thought this already was an option?! If it isn't (I haven't looked for it, and can't from work), then I agree with ya.
MONSTROUS FUR BOOTS -- Uggz?! My god, that makes the rest of the suggestion look ridiculous. At any rate, yes, matching feet to the legs above.
TRAVEL POWER -- Yes, let's compare our game to CO. Because they are soooo much better at everything! Right then. Making Fitness into a travel pool doesn't need to happen... because, essentially, it already IS one. If you don't understand, then that is your failing not the Devs'. (Also, it goes without saying that you would select your ridiculous 'Fitness' power. Why? Because it is totally un-balanced to give in one power what an entire pool set does...)
DUAL PISTOLS -- Grow some patience. It's coming, soon™. Also, we are the Burger King... we get things our way, while there at McDs you get it how they want to give it to you, and it doesn't even involve a real grill. -
Basically a character is "done" when it hits 50. There are a few exceptions. My blue- and red-side badger characters have both been 50 for some time now, and are played somewhat regularly to collect the odd badge here or there that they still "need."
The better question, for me, would be when is a character "shelved"? That happens a LOT more often. This happens for a lot of reasons, but mostly it occurs when some random new character sparks my interest and becomes the new "main" for a period of time. That might be until it hits 50, like when I started really playing my Kheld, or it may be only until a new issue comes out and adds powersets I want to try and a NEW temp-main gets created.
I make a lot of characters, some will get played until 50, some only a weekend, and others will survive deletion for long periods of time (inexplicably) and may never get above 23. -
I got Ophidius Rex (Merc/Poison MM) from 2 to 18 so far, and a few other levels spread around (1 here, one there). I hope to get him to 20 and get my other MM to 32.

Quote:Thanks for that. Yeah, the windows thing was incredibly obnoxious... I think I will look for a fix for that BEFORE I download SP3 again...2GB on XP is plenty. I have 2GB and I often run two instances of CoH (thought not while accessing the market and it zones like a sloth with two instances).
As for the SP3 issue, well, that's not good. I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with your CoH issue, but there are so many security issues constantly being discovered that Windows needs to be kept updated.
