I recall it being stated as a possiblity. Not as a sure thing. It was mentioned that they may do an i17 (akin to the smallness of i15) that includes a few things that may be ready... and then have i18 simul-launch with GR.

Whether or not that is the plan at the moment, I have no idea.

    Sonic / Devices

Sonic's -Res secondary effect is very useful all through the leveling range, most noticeably in the early levels where it adds a quite nice boost to your individual damage. It is also nice later as it eases some of the resistances that hard targets like AVs and EBs tend to have.

The reason that it is somewhat underplayed, IMO, is twofold. One, when it was first introduced it had visual/audio FXs that quite literally made people nauseous. Those got fixed, and it now is more palatable, but may still have some thinking of it as that "nausea-blast" set. Two, it's various sound FXs are not to everyone's taste, and some avoid it for that reason alone.

Personally? I just haven't found too many concepts I like that would make use of the set.

By all means, play Sonic, some folks will really love you on the team, I know I would.

Oh, and regarding Devices? All I know is that some consider it underperforming. However, take that with a grain of salt, because ALL combinations of powersets can be used to great effect. Its just that some are "easymode" and some require a bit more player savvy to be at their best... as you might guess, it is those "underperforming" sets that tend to be in that second category.

Edit: Oh, and welcome to the game... and the forums!!

And when I think about, I don't think any side should have exclusive unlockable costume parts. Costumery is one area that should have the same options on both sides of the moral divide.

I fully support the emotes and costume pieces being "proliferated" to the redside, any way that makes at least some amount of logical sense.

Sounds pretty neat... wishes he were in color.. (hint hint). :P
  6. I filed an in-game petition and was awarded my wayward badge in about 4 days.

  7. It may not be my best work, but I was going for a look that resembled a wooden strike anywhere type match (hence the red and white as an accent).

I think one of the Shard TFs took our team somewhere in the 10+ hour range... I want to say it took 12, but I am fairly certain that is me adding time to it due to how painful it was.
  9. Very nice artz there Starwind!

I am curious about the character Seige that you drew... what's his story? He looks to be a very cool character.
  10. My hunch is that he's a Fire/Fire Blaster...

I for one, am a guy who has absolutely no female characters. And I have only played two since I started playing this game 2.5 years ago (they got deleted quickly).

Of course, me not being attracted to females may be involved here... it's hard to know for sure.
  12. Good for you! But it might have been a tad more appropriate to be earning the Midnighter one at midnight tonight...

And they will be... in time.

One other thing that has not been mentioned specifically, is Positron's statement that they, as a development team, will try to make the most number of people happy as possible regarding the way in which SG/VGs will operate in the post-GR environment. Again, and this is getting monotonous, we don't know what that means.

Also, TonyV? I think you are spot on with everything you have said in this thread, and have been admirably pleasant, more so than I might have been.

NOT level 45 to 50. But ACTUAL stuff for level 50 characters to do... lvl 50 ONLY stuff... That would be awesome.
Why should it only be available to max level characters? And how does it being available to lvl 45s somehow diminish it as high level (50ish) content?

This seems like a ridiculous and selfish request...

Also, in regards to punctuation as it relates to quoted statments: Is it correct to use a period in a quotation at the end of a sentence if there was no such period in the statement being quoted? Could I have said "It should be 'parentheses' instead of 'parenthesis.'" or would it be more appropriate to say "It should be 'parentheses' instead of 'parenthesis'."? I'm also unsure about the punctuation I used to end the previous sentence, as well as the colon at the beginning of this paragraph. When is it appropriate to use a colon? A semicolon? A comma?

Since I obviously haven't taken a formal English class in a while, I eagerly await your responses.

Actually, I think I'm going to start an English class in two weeks. I'd check, but I really don't want to think about it just now; my head already hurts from reading this thread.
    Punctuation and Quotation Marks:

A period or a comma always goes before the quotation mark. So, using your example, the following is correct:
"It should be 'parentheses' instead of 'parenthesis.'" [You get extra points here for using the single quotation mark inside of a double quotation mark, note that it is the opposite in many places outside the US.]

For question marks and exclamation points, it depends on the usage. If the statement being quoted uses a question mark or an exclamation point, then it goes within the quotes, if the statement is a question or exclamation then the mark goes outside the quote, and if it is both, then the mark goes within the quotations.

As for colons, semicolons and commas, well, that is a bit messy. Semicolons are really only used for two things: to make a list unambiguous, or to seperate two independent clauses in the same sentence.

    Examples:
Ed and Bozo are married; they hate each other.
I think she is bringing a dancing monkey, who is a ventriloquist; a rotary phone, that is broken; and three spoons.

While I am not sure that the second example is totally correct, it does illustrate that a semi-colon can be used in place of a comma, if adding more commas would be more confusing in a list.

When it comes to colons, I only really use them to digest my food... Erm, I mean to begin a list. See: Colons.

Your logic falls a bit short in my case. I did a lot of programming in High School, and am able to discriminate between the two activities: programming and writing.
  18. Once I got a costume I liked on my Mind/Fire Dom, I really enjoyed him. 'Tis a blast. I lament that my altitis made me create a new character or 5 and have not played him that much lately. I am sure I will pick him up again, for I really do like Dominators.
  19. Hmmmm, I have wanted to run this Trial for a very long time... I might just be able to make that. (Put me down as a Definite Maybe, and I will see what is going on at that time.)

I would bring a lv 50 Grav/FF Controller by the name of Wylde-Fire.

This is a forum to voice one's concerns, correct? So, let's not go down to the point where comparing one's concerns to that of the sounds from an animal, shall we?

This is one of the reasons why I don't usually post. Someone invariably comes back with comments that are supposed to demonstrate their greater knowledge of the subject, and end up being insulting.

As I've said before in my previous posting, it's just my two cents.

Dude, after reading your original post (which was rather respectful), and then Cende's... I just don't see what you are up in arms about. The only issue in her post, as far as I can see, was the use of the word "yelp." And that is open to interpretation, but I would not assume she was calling you a dog.

In other words, it seems to me like you were looking to be offended once you learned that your original post's premise was basically mistaken.

Though I will point out that I think it was in bad taste to accuse the Devs of having lied to you, and then brushing off the rebuttal that was presented by basically saying "I didn't bother to do the research before I accused a company of lying to me."

  23. I see threads pop-up now and again asking for folks to help them come up with costumes, or how to improve existing costumes. I thought it might be beneficial to start a thread specifically for that purpose! And what better place to put it than here.

So, anyone who has a costume needing creation, or re-creation, post some thoughts here, and we (being whoever wants to) will hop on over and see what help we can give to ye, the seeker of fashion greatness.

Just remember a few things that'll help us along:
    • Tell us what AT your character is.
    • What powersets does he/she use?
    • Do you have a picture of it's current state? No? Well please give us a bit of information about it so we don't end up giving you back what you already have.
    • A brief explanation of any character concept you have for the character would be great. Remember that brevity is the... ummm... insert proverb here.
    • Give us anything else that you might think will help, a reference pic, for example, of what your inspiration was.
