Quote:I did that on my PB once. Some guy was surrounded by Hellions and on the verge of death. I jumped in, and Taunted the Hellions onto me. I think I was at least +20 to them at the time. The almost dead Hero killed em all, and thanked me for saving them a trip to the hospital. I felt heroic, and they felt like players in this game really care. Win win in my book.I've performed drive by debuffing on occasion. Obviously only with buffs that deal no damage. The other fun one is on my tank on a couple of occasions when I've sene someone struggling I leap in and use my taunt aura to take all the aggro and then stand there while they beat them up.

Quote:Yes, but that doesn't equate. If I'm standing around drinking a cup of coffee and someone drops some change into my cup, they are calling me a bum (and ruining my coffee) even if they're trying to be nice.
A better example would be you are having your cup of coffee... and someone gives you a coupon to get a free coffee. It is helping you do... what you are already doing. -
Quote:OMG did that annoy me! I played the ITF as soon as I could so that I could earn that nifty cape... which I assumed was available. I was pissed when I found out that they had used that pic in promotional art... using pieces we could never get.Actually, there's a smattering of a history of teasing us costume pieces that turn out to be NPCs. (See: Imperious, etc.)
I am over it now.
Nope, I was right there with ya. -

Your logic kinda fails though... Justice is the third largest server...

Quote:Not a glitch. Not a policy. Probably not going to be "fixed."I have to start the mission from the beginning. That really sucks. Especially when I spend literally an hour on the mission and then my computer crashes. Is this a glitch or is this some policy in the game?
Missiosn progress is just one of those things that isn't stored locally or server-side. If the mission is not completed, and you log off (get booted, w/e) long enough, you will have to begin again. It's annoying, but look on the brightside, you will essentially earn double the XP for the same mission.
Also, it is this same "problem" that makes it possible for players to "farm" a given mission... so if this is "fixed" you can bet a lot of folks will be upset about it.
Quote:If this is not fixed, then I will stop paying for more time in this game until it is fixed. -
Quote:If this is really the case... then this:I've recently come up with a character concept that I'm excited about.
Quote:But for those who have experienced Energy Melee...how does it compare to, say, Super Strength? That is my favorite Tanker secondary and I play it all the time. Is the single target damage comparable? Is it better/worse? Will I be really disappointed with Whirling Hands?
In my view, if you are excited about the concept, then that should be enough to carry you through. I guess I am not the guy to ask about this, huh? -

I have a pretty low threshold for petitioning names.. and Weed Man, wouldn't even cause a blip on my petitiometer. I would just think the guy was reeeeaaaaalllllllly uncreative.

Quote:It's a good thing your opinion does not represent the whole community then, isn't it?Really people there is nothing to get excited about yet! a couple of icons and a screenshot. Costumes dont make this game. Infact some of my 50s dint even get a new costume until they were 50. Lots of my toons have upwards of 73 free tailor sessions I really doubt adding more costumes is going to make me more inclined to make more costumes.
I realize its not done yet but it looks to me as if there is nothing much to do in that passage way it will be just another place you superspeed through and take no notice of.
Personally, I love costumes. Each of my characters has a costume in each and every slot available, and I get those slots as soon as I can. I have spent, almost literally DAYS designing costumes. It may not change your view on anything, but it sure as heck makes ME happy!
Costumes DO make this game. If it weren't for them, you can guarantee I would have quit a long time ago. -
[Edit: I see this issue has been cleared up. Nothing to see here, carry on.]
Quote:What? Rorschach is not amoral. In fact, I would call him, hyper-moral. He just has no qualms when it comes to punishing those who he has deemed worthy of punishment.and morality was almost nonexistent in his mind ( like Rorschach)
Now, the Comedian? Him I could see being called amoral. He has, almost literally, laughed off morality. -

I always send tells to those who have their flag set to looking first... However, I don't expect much, and continue my hunt by sending tells off to just about anyone who isn't already teamed. That usually gets me enough folks to start (~4 total). Not really any earth shattering news here.

Quote:No... that's not what I meant at all.Ummm so you dont actually KNOW what BC Skunk is referencing but you Think it should still be petitioned IYHO???? Thats rather 'strange' Logic No??
What I meant was that those other toons, the ones he thinks are worse than his name, ought to have been petitioned. Forbin's right, but again, not what I meant. -
Quote:Yes, exactly right.Oh right so you don't know what Skunk is but you know what a Stoner is?
I have heard the word "stoner" used in reference to drug users for as long as I can remember. Today, is the first time I have ever heard the term "skunk" used in regard to drugs. If it seems silly to you.. well, so be it. Even my college neighbor who sold pot never used the term in front of me... nor did my other friend who was constantly toking in his dorm room and smelling of Fritos. -
Yes.
(Though since I am not a member of the Dev team's family, nor a personal friend of theirs... I can't know if THAT round of beta started. But, then again, I would imagine your Coalie-Mates don't fit that description either.) -
Being a T rated game, I would suggest not using actual drug names. Using catagories like "psychadelics" or "hallucinagin" might be okay though. It depends on if anyone reports you, and then, on the discretion of the support person that sees the petition.
Quote:Well... then they should be petitioned, IMO. Just because others are worse, doesn't mean yours will be okay... that's just stupid "logic."lol, considering some of the toons I've seen before, I think you'd get away with it.
I used to have a plant/psy dom named B.C Skunk. No one had a problem with it. Ya never know tho, some may have a lower tolerence than others (lol bad pun)
And, uhhh, what the heck is that name supposed to reference? I am at work, else I would just look it up (afraid of what I might find).
Deservedly so. And if you expect us to believe you had not a single thought as to what "stoner" means to most people... well... -

Quote:Ewwwww. I can't stand the look of that personally. I have mutated the spelling of things before I would ever do that. I used to use the Name. method, but went through and deleted all of those characters because I couldn't stand the extra useless character.I think there is a guide somewhere on the boards explaining naming techniques. I do things like frame in "x" or add a dash. So I ended up with x Keeper of Blades x after moving one of my toons to Virtue. I tend to get the name I want in one way or another.
Ex:
— Wildfire --> Wylde-Fire (And it even explains the spelling in his bio. Not to mention that this convention is not unheard of in comicdom. See: Havok and others)
— Also, I will use numbers on occasion, when appropriate. Robots might get a v3.7 or a Mk 2 etc. One of my characters is named Number 0-37.
— Combining different words or words in different languages. I wanted the name Black Point. It was taken, so I went with Schwarzpunkt, which translates from German (roughly) as Black Point. Tada! And, as a result, my business man turns villain character became an Austrian business man. Adding a touch more depth to the character.
— Also, I like to use interior hyphens. Skull-Force for example, and Wylde above. It keeps what you may have wanted, but adds the special character to make it more likely to be free.
And, yes, there still are good names out there. I recently acquired Bioflux, Soulburnt, Mantis Engine and Moonspot. -
Short answer? You wouldn't ever do that.
However, I started playing controllers on my Grav/FF... and as you may know, Gravity's Immob doesn't have a -KB component. So... I am very much in the habit of spamming it, mostly because there isn't really a downside to it. So, when I started playing my Ice/Storm, I had to really remember to try NOT to use the Immob while [Ice Slick] is up. It's hard for me to do, even when I know the benefits. Hell, I would be hurting my own dang power. Perhaps a similar situation is going on?
Or, maybe, the player in question really does have no idea what power effects hinder what other power effects. Perhaps if you nicely and calmly explain what is happening, he/she will see the error in her/his ways. -
Quote:While I certainly agree with the over-arcing sentiment of this post: more information = happy players...To whomever it may concern at Paragon Studios/NCSoft,
Please take notice as to how much excitement and happiness you cause within your playerbase by simply releasing a screenshot and a background story. There is no excuse for 2-3 month gaps with no updates at all. It takes so little to do so much. Please try to release some new news every couple weeks. No matter how small, any little tid bit of info like this goes a long way in curbing pessimistic feelings about this game and fustration in general.
Just one player's opinion.
Also, good stuff!
I take issue with the underlined bits. You do not know what has been going on within the studio. So you have no idea if there is "no excuse." And it is arrogant to assume we are entitled to updates on our schedule. Not to mention that perhaps the excitement that has been garnered by the announcement is due to the fact that the info was a long time coming. If put closer together... the players may have given a collective "that's it?!?" and walked off (so to speak).
And the entitlement/arrogance continues with the "it takes so little" comment. Perhaps a small amount of info will abate issues within the playerbase, but unless you work there, you haven't a clue what goes into getting an update (however small) down the pipeline and to us, the players.
Also, I think an update once a month, perhaps every other month is perfectly acceptable (though not what occurred)... considering how far out the initial announcement was made of GR. As I said earlier, if you string them too close, people tend to get less excited, and feel that they should be getting more information, despite how much they may have gotten in total. Look at Hero Con's huge wealth of information... if it hadn't been for that deluge, I don't feel that people would be as impatient. It is a matter of comparison. We got innundated, and then nothing. If information slowly trickles out, then I believe the player base will recieve it better.
Just one player's opinion.
(Also, I fixed a couple mistakes in the OP.) -
Quote:It is confirmed to be at least 1-20. And with Posi working on the "End Game Strike Team" it will likely have 45+ content as well. Something tells me it may not have much in the way of content in between 21 and 44 though.-I hope its a stand alone game with lvl 1-50 content.... maybe 1-40 at launch with 41-50 later on. That's how City of Villains began so why not?
Quote:-I want to be able to choose any AT at character creation when creating a Rogue with the exception of Hero and Villain Epic AT's.
Quote:I would like to see one or two new Going Rogue exclusive AT... Spy AT's that can go anywhere in the COH universe regardless of their alignment. No one knows exactly whose side a spy is on anyway.
Quote:-Alignment changing missions should only be available on Praetorian Earth. Anyone who doesn't buy the expansion has no access to them. When Rogues from Praetorian Earth come to our earth, IE Paragon City or Rogue Isles, they are restricted to whatever side is most appropriate for their alignment when they crossed over. Alternately existing Heroes and Villains should have to go to Praetorian Earth to change their alignment.
Quote:-I hope the zones in Praetorian Earth are more than just revamped copies of existing zones. I know it's a parallel world but is it too much to ask for a little originality.
Quote:-While on Praetorian Earth your alignment should only be known by you. Heroes and Villains can team together but there should be no way to tell whose a hero and whose a villain unless you state it yourself, and even then you could lie and they'll never know. Missions designed to be heroic can be sabotaged so the alignment shift toward heroic is less than what it should have been, and the one who sabotaged the mission will have an alignment shift toward villain. Same for villain missions.
