The New Adventures of Superman tried it too and that all went pretty downhill afterwards. I think it's a side-effect of trying to force the characters into keeping their old dynamic, which is rarely ever possible once they're together.

Ultimately, it's a big risk to try it, which is why most of the time they just let all the peripheral characters get together and have the leads stumble through a series of increasingly bad relationships with extras until the show comes to an end.

The problem isn't being able to keep the drama going, it's the change in dynamic between the characters which can alienate a lot of existing viewers and by the point in the show that it happens it's usually tough to attract new viewers to replace them.

Not to mention how much it upsets all the shippers.

    Paragon Rewards

The "highlights" on the T9 options indicates that they're repeatable rewards (i.e. You can claim them more than once), but you still need to fill a given Tier before you can move up to the next one.

All Paragon Rewards are available to all your characters, whether they are Account bound or Character bound (unlike some other types of reward/unlock) so it's a bit misleading. Once you claim any reward on a character, you can't claim it again (unless it's a repeatable T9 that you use another Reward point on).

Predictable but necessary - we all know that shows like this have to keep their UST unresolved, apparently. That said, at least they had the decency to have Beckett *also* be hiding something this time around.
  5. I know there was a bug in beta whereby if you reserved a name you then couldn't create the character because the name was reserved, but that was supposed to have been fixed quite a few patches before it went live.
  6. Worse than that, if you hit Claim All on a non-50 and you've got Ascendant costume pieces, it'll just fail as soon as it gets to the first one.

Well, no. Any install that you copy is only as good as its patch level; there's no point copying an install that is as old or older than your live install, obviously.
  9. The only game I'm aware of that has actually done proper dual monitor support is Supreme Commander (which did it very well), everyone else just seems to pretend that people only ever have one screen (or decide it's not worth the time to code for the number of people who'll make use of it).

You could always play Windowed and stretch the window across both screens, but that isn't quite the same thing and introduces its own issues

You could copy the beta install from your laptop over your desktop Live install.
  11. Erm, you're not taking your Mez protection toggle or Dark Consumption but you're taking Assault? And not slotting Weave? Or your F/C/E/N toggle? But you're 4-slotting boxing and Energy Cloak? And 6-slotting Energy Protection & 5-slotting Dampening Field, which are passives?

Are you trying for something specific here, because the current build looks really strange?

Edit: As a comparison, here's my Pre-i21 DM/EA brute build - it's actually a little over-slotted from a DEF POV but I've been waiting for the i21 changes before I respec him.

This past Friday, it took 12 or so mins. to reboot it Grr...not fun when trying to leave work early (or at least on time)!
Try working in the NHS; one of the clinical software providers, EMIS, do something to the servers with the software they install which means they average between 15 and 20 minutes to go from power on to logon screen. What'll really make your brain hurt is that if VMware Server is running on the box with 1 or more VMs, *they* are up and reachable after about 5 minutes whilst the host they're on takes another 10-15 before it's network-accessible.

I've tried doing a search on the forums but had no luck finding anything. So I'll ask!

Any idea why that little icon is there (seemingly randomly) on some costume slots and what effect (if any) it has?

    Thanks
Got the same thing; I presume it means that some or all of the costume pieces used in the costume are locked or have been changed but it seems an odd thing to indicate on the costume select screen as it doesn't seem to stop you from changing into that costume.
  14. Just be careful, a bunch of EU players have found themselves locked out of the *game* after changing their passwords (though it did let them log back into the forums).

Primarily the amount of money backing the venture. Downtime for the latter costs someone a couple thousand bucks an hour. In the former, it's millions or billions.

Secondarily, the proper staffing levels to support an HA environment. I don't claim to know how many people Paragon and NCWest have on staff to support their game(s). But I'd find it damnably difficult to believe their development staff can run on a five-nines basis with appropriate staffing levels 24x7x52.

Now if you want to go ahead and pony up a half billion or so REAL dollars, and keep doing it every year, I'm sure Paragon and NCSoft would LOVE to go to an HA format for the game. Then they can actually put the staff on to support that kind of thing.

Until then, reality shows its ugly face.
It's rare for people to appreciate it. Too often people assume that if they spend £5k for a server that somehow that server will provide them with 24/7 service and 100% uptime and the balk at any downtime requests for patching and hardware replacements.

You have to understand that there is no such thing as 100% uptime. "Five Nines" or better is possible but very expensive. You not only need redundant hardware (which is generally easily enough for most things except CPU, RAM and the system board) but also some mechanism which can protect against software failure (which gets exponentially more complicated as the complexity of the software increases).

Even with a multiple host, VM-based solution with failover clustering on a well designed SAN with full network redundancy across multiple physically-separated sites is only good as long as the application itself keeps working correctly and the users don't do anything stupid like delete a load of important records or accidentally lose $2bn in dodgy stock market trading.
  16. If you've got Steam, use it to launch the game (non-Steam game) and then use the Steam screenshot function to capture images.
  17. They're not "live" but they might be semi-live (weekly or monthly updates based on the exchange rate).
  18. Annoying but no doubt necessary -although I can't say I've had any stability issues this week; lots of minor bugs here and there with things like Fog of War and the Globals dropping out on zoning (though that was happening before the i21 publish).

Ultimately, if all your servers have to be worked on at once and your players are all around the world (as they are in this case) then you're going to have to upset some of them and the "best" option is the one that affects the fewest whilst not being impractical (such as doing all the patching at 3am on a Monday morning).

Never bothered me, Vendor drivers are usually a bag of **** anyway, so I've always used the Nvidia or ATI reference drivers on my laptops and I've never had any issues with them.
  20. Far too much griefing potential I suspect (and yes, I know it's fairly easy to find out anyway, but this would make it very simple).
  21. I would prefer the latter *if* they really change the outcome, but they generally don't and so they don't feel like you're really doing anything different.

I like choice, but the illusion of choice is something that only works when it's masked well enough that you don't notice it, so you might as well just stick the generalised options.

Then again, from an RP perspective it's nice if you can take dialogue options that more accurately reflect how your character would react to a situation, but if the option you want isn't there a vague one might be better.
  22. Tough is *not* T3.

Boxing and Kick are T1, Tough is T2, Weave is T3.
  23. I've no objection to Free players being able to send Tells to people on their Friends list, but I suspect that there may be more substantial coding changes involved compared to simply blocking Tells entirely.
  24. Nope. they're apparently being patched in later, prior to or at the Freedom launch proper.
  25. I've had it on existing characters as well as new ones.
