When I flip, I sort of imagine myself as a old timey fur trapper or something--wandering the hills, looking for promising hunting grounds. When I find a good spot, I set up my traps and wander off. It will be a while before I'm back to check on them.
The person you are considering likely had all their "traps" fill. They weren't checked immediately so there was a break in their purchasing where they were no longer the high (flipper) bid and the price dropped. Then they came back, sold all their "fur", and reset the traps. Or they possibly cranked up their bid in response to increased demand and somewhere they still had an outstanding bid at the 37500 mark. -
Quote:Only three things effect the price of an item.[sarcasm on] Of course this isnt driving up the price at all is it ? [sarcasm off]
I guess we should ignore this obvious example of a flipper causing the price of salvage to increase - or find some reason to discredit it as not really happening.
Cause we all know based on half concocted experiments and extensive BS propaganda done here on the market forums... that flippers could never possibly drive up the prices on items based on their actions. Right ?
ROFL
Supply, demand, and the amount of patience a buyer has.
Rudimentary understanding of these principles is enough to make a killing at the market, but if you prefer fully concocted conspiracy theories to "half concocted" experiments, that is certainly your right. -
Yep, it's just that easy.
As time goes on you'll be able to spot niches more easily. My one piece of advice would be to always compare the price of your recipe with the price of the crafted item. You may be shocked by the premium some are willing to pay to avoid crafting. -
Mostly, I am looking for clever slotting ideas for Acid Mortar, Poison Trap and Seeker Drones. Specifically I am interested in how much accuracy you put in them. This is in regards to a Defender running Tactics.
Thanks in advance! -
Knockback is awesome.
I've loved my Nrg/Nrg blaster, and I've now started work on a FF/nrg and Traps/AR defenders. I guess if you're on one of those exquisitely boring teams where "herding" is the rule of the day, it's possible that it may be less effective, but I find it fairly easy to use my kb to bring guys CLOSER TOGETHER. Crazy concept I know, but a good kb'r knows how to do it. And, of course, it's hilarious.
I think those that hate kb'rs only hate em because when they catch up to the baddies, it's just a pile of corpses. -
If you look in your badges tab and set the discriminator thingie to "Veteran", you should see both the badges themselves and things that look like the badges that will have little buttons on them that say "Claim Reward" or something like that. Click the button--if there's an additional choice (i.e. sands of mu or ghost slaying axe) a menu will pop up for you to choose from.

I was definitely noticing this on my KM scrap (wife was too). I'm obsessive about my inspirations, so when the duration is cut short, it's fairly obvious to me (although I was wondering if it was just my imagination). Thanks for testing, Bill.
edit: haven't noticed this on any other char (I play a SS/Fire quite often too). -
Wow...just wanna give a little golf clap here. 27 pages of win.
Was reading through this and I started thinking about how, when CoV first released, I would be very careful to sell all my TOs and take DOs to the store of their orgin all in the hopes of maybe affording a few SOs.
Yeah gee, the market is sure a bummer. The worst part about it is how hard it's made it for a new player to get started financially. Yep. -
Reminds me of a team I was on where the tank expected everyone to wait for them to "gather", or whatever, and did this for EVERY FREAKING GROUP (they had binds they used to tell us where to wait). As if that wasn't boring and annoying enough, the guy was constantly admonishing us for anything he felt was a derivation from "correct" playstyle. After he asked me to stop using nem staff, I politely removed myself from the team...
Sounds like you may have run into something similar--although as one caveat, I do find it's best to use caltrops as a buffer between the baddies and the squishies; throwing trops under the group around the tank can cause unwanted scatter (especially for tanks that rely on their PbAoE auras for survival). I'm not saying that's what happened, just speaking to your general question about trops. Would also avoid them against baddies w/ slow resistance. -
Holy cow, it's one of those immortal, self-repeating frankenhorses!
/horsebeat
I've skipped much of this, but drawing from the OP:
Good play beats a fancy build every time. I've played with plenty of purped-out players who lacked fundamental understanding of game mechanics/strategy and therefore contributed far less than, say, an intelligent player running SOs. If you had actually put in the time and effort to make a fancy build, you would understand when people say that it really doesn't make that big of difference in 95% of situations (as opposed to sound tactics and good inspiration management).
Read the market guides, learn how to make money without even playing the game. A few posts ahead of me, Fulmens was nice enough to direct you to some profitable niches--but they are seriously EVERYWHERE. Learn how to find them and exploit them
Farming is completely unnecessary, if you don't find it fun, don't do it.
Also, as MANY have pointed out, a solid, fun build can be made cheaply and easily via the frankenslotting technique. Consider running one of these builds while you accumulate "the good stuff". That's what I do.
If you want a fancy build, you earn it. It is not a reward for subscribing to the game for a prolonged period (those are under "Badges---->Veteran Rewards"). The bottom line is, no matter which method you choose (or ignore), some expenditure of effort is required. Best of luck. -
Actually, water expands when it freezes, so water is more compact of the two.
Nitpicking aside, I've always thought pumicites (or something like them) would make a good MM set. They have three distinct tiers, they look cool, and they already exist in the game
Also, Beer Manipulation. -
Welcome to the forums (and game?)!
You have crafted yourself an enhancement from a "Slow" set. If you mouse over any of your powers on the screen where you have your enhancements slotted, it should tell you what you can enhance it for (acc, dam recharge, etc.) and also what SETS the power accepts (melee damage, ranged damage, resist damage, etc).
Since you are on a scrapper, which, as far as I know, has no access to anything that accepts slow sets, you are out of luck on that enhancement--you may be able to sell it on the market, or use it for a different character, but not on that one.
Hope this helps! -
The worst brute I have personally experienced was DM/Stone. Omgboring.

My two (fairly minor) beefs with Sonic Dispersion:
Liquefy needs a shorter recharge. It is a fantastic power, as many have pointed out, but also lacks the constant utility of something like tar patch, lingering rad, earthquake, or freezing rain (as other have pointed out).
End costs are far too high. I was able to achieve a manageable endurance situation on my Spine/DA scrapper far more easily than my sonic defender. Which is to say it was difficult on the scrapper, nearly impossible on the defender. Now at level 41, and packed to the gills with end redux, the def still leans on blue inspirations and recovery serums.
I like the style, and I'm a sucker for -res, but the set could use a little love. -
My Plant/Fire dom is probably my favorite out of a rather large stable of characters.
This is a solid guide, however, I would like to make an argument for Combat Jumping.
As has already been pointed out, you can slot a Karma -KB here (as well as Kismet +tohit, unbounded leap +stealth, and LotG +rech), but that really isn't as important as the boon it is to properly positioning yourself.
In a set where two of your most awesome powers are cones (SoC and Fire Breath), your orientation to the group is of great importance if you wish to use these powers effectively (less so with seeds, but it still matters).
I have been playing this game a looong time, and I have still not found a more effective tool for quickly changing positions around a mob than CJ. Granted, I only could fit this into my build because he's a ninja runner, but still, I would pick CJ over Stealth everyday and twice on Sunday. -
I'd second Rad/Sonic Def, Fire/Rad Corr, and Fire/Dark Corr.
As a personal preference, nothing gets my blood pumping like soloing a blaster. It's a delicate ballet between guerrilla tactics and pure berserkerdom. A primary w/ some good secondary effects is nice for this, with Energy Blast being my preference (although AR, Ice Blast, and to an extent, Archery, are fun too). -
Tried that...if it makes any difference the salvage was generated in Praetoria, although I don't know why that would matter.
Edit: Separating the stack into individual sales seemed to work...weird. -
So, the wife just popped over to Wents to rid herself of some salvage of which five were Simple Chemicals. The SCs were stacked and listed for 1. There were 49 bids at the time of the listing. As of this posting, none of the SCs has sold.
Huh? -
For a pure redside farming toon I'd go SS/FA brute.
For unadulterated wholesale ownage of everything everywhere, I'd recommend a Plant/Fire Dominator. This is my most recent 50, and it may be my most favoritest toon ever...and that is saying a lot. -
Failure to bid creep still baffles me far less than the behavior of those who buy generic recipes (from the market) for MORE than they cost from an invention table! I mean--you HAVE to go to an invention table to make the frickin enhancement so you gain absolutely nothing (not even time) by overpaying...*headpop*
-
It's true people. He posted for that much so you MUST pay that much.
Those are the rules, and I really expected they'd be crystal clear by now... -
You're new?
Definitely sell.
You could fund an entire server worth of toons with that windfall. -
Quote:The reason I suggested WP is because I was operating under the assumption that he was taking taunt (like I said). Taunting and attacking (especially with a tank) should be plenty to supplement the weak taunt aura of RttC in terms of holding agro. Anyway, no tank/brute should be interested in just holding agro, attacking is half the AT.If you want to be an agro magnet then WP is the last place to look.
-
If you're interested in being an agro magnet, I will assume you are taking taunt. If my assumption is right willpower may be a very good choice for you. You get some nice passive powers, the all-in-one mez/knockback protection is nice, and you can get your regen ridiculously high with the taunt aura. Between using your taunt and attacking, you should be able to hold most if not all agro fairly easily.
Stone armor has been suggested too, and yes, at lvl 32/38 you do become unkillable, but that's about it. I honestly hate (playing) this set. The mobility sacrifice on top of further damage reduction is totally meh.
Ultimatley, I suppose I would recommend either WP or Invuln for a brute and WP, Inv, and maybe Ice for a tank. I can't speak to elec armor as I have never tried it. Take super strength as your attack set...everyone should foot stomp at least once.
If you start feeling adventurous, I would recommend trying out Dark Armor and Fire Armor. These can be a little trickier, but they both have tremendous potential in capable hands.
