Quote:If I set the "threads per page" in my user options to the maximum, 500, no page that actually goes that high will load. They all show up as a blank white screen and stop loading (this is with Firefox on a PPC Mac). If I drop it down to 100 I can read any thread without problem.
I can find a setting for how many posts per page to show, but not any for how many threads per page to show.
Where is this setting exactly?
EDIT: If you are actually meaning posts per page, it isn't limited to being broken in Firefox. IE8 on Vista x64 gives me an "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error" page when set to 500 posts per page. -
What browser are you doing this in? Have you tried using a different browser to see if it will accept the markings and keep them when you switch back to the first browser?
I kept having issues with the forums not remembering what threads I'd read, even if I used the Mark Forum Read tool, or double-clicked on the Star for the thread or anything else that should have set the Read flags.
It was also telling me that my last visited date was about 18 hours prior, even though I'd been in and out of the forums most of the day, from different computers, on different networks, and using different browsers and versions of browsers.
I finally got it to "stick" by changing browsers briefly at home and using the Mark Forum Read tool.
I think it just finally got the hint that I really had read all those forums.

Quote:I've removed this one with Malwarebytes often enough to know it will get rid of it. I haven't run across any of the variants of that particular piece of malware that Malwarebytes doesn't remove as long as you update it first to get the latest definitions/detections/removals.If Malwarebytes doesn't find anything I recommend The Cleaner from http://www.moosoft.com with the same instructions.

Quote:I can load the patch for test server and even access it but my screen goes black on test. From the sec that it loads it blacks out my screen I can still enter pass word server select and potentialy char select but as the screen is pure black it takes some Muscle motor memory to pull off( having a 2nd comp I can look at the normal screen of helps too) Anyone know why im geting blacked out ? is this some thing intentional or is there something on my end causeing it? Normal client loads up fine.
This sounds like a video driver issue, or a settings issue. In order to tell which one it is, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Since the live servers are working right for you, it's most likely a settings issue. The settings for Test installations are configured separately from the Live server installations.
You may want to download TweakCoH so that you'll be able to adjust the settings for Test before the game loads if that is indeed the problem. -
Quote:You are infected. That is the host for the Spyware Protect 2009 malware/hijacker. It causes serious system perfomance issues, and will get worse the longer it is allowed to stay on your computer. Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and install it. Update it and then run a scan. Let it remove anything it finds.
When it finishes, re-run HijackThis and post a new log from it. A new CoH Helper log is not needed. -

Quote:It's rather obvious that mac was using the Level 0 reference as being a character that previously did not exist.
And your statement that people were leveling characters from 0-50 in less than an hour during Double XP Weekend is ridiculous; it's not possible to level that fast (by the way, there is no Level 0 in the game).
If mac posted, as he did, that people levelled that fast during the last Double XP Weekend, he is one of the few people I would believe without question on that. Did I personally see anyone level that fast, no, but that's due more to me not being into that type of gaming. I'm sure mac is being factual in what he posted there, and it is even possible that he himself did that. I don't know if he did, I'm not accusing him of using any exploits or anything else, just stating that if he says it was done, I will believe it was done.
Now, there are several people that could make the same post and I'd be skeptical about how fast the characters were levelled. There are a really small minority of players that could make the same post and I'd believe them as quickly as I believe mac. There are possibly some players that could make that statement and I'd call BS on it everytime they said it. -

Quote:Yes, there is already a thread discussing this in this section of the forums. There may be threads in other areas, but I only go to a few sections and haven't seen them in those few.Does anyone have this? It's highly annoying to read a thread, come back the next day and see it bolded (AKA someone posted since I last read it) but discover it's the same post you last saw.
This seems like a cookie thing, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Any ideas on how to fix this? -

Zone out, and then look. Also, make sure that when you log out you are seeing the correct Day Job icon. If not, move a bit to make sure it shows up before you log.

Sorry, you'll have to go to a Cryptic game site to post in their Beta forums.
Cryptic hasn't had anything to do with the game for some time now.
Yeah, several have reported this or similar error messages lately. -
Quote:I had a system last year that got one of the variant infections about 4 days after I put it on a math teacher's desk. She was the only one to have logged onto the computer, and checking her surfing history showed that she had only gone to legitimate Math websites and had received no emails with attachments or even junk email. She's not computer literate enough to have hidden her surfing tracks, in fact, she'd likely be surprised that there ARE ways you can hide where you've been.Knock it off!
People will think we're having a civil discussion! FMJ sucks.
'Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!'
I have cleaned up about 100 of the WinAntivirus2009(lots of variants) in the last 2 years or so, including the rootkit versions. All of those desktops had up to date major name brand retail and or corporate AV, you name it, it was rooted. Half the time the AV didn't even know the PC was infected or the virus simply disabled the AV, the other half the AV reported a file, but the other 15 files it couldn't find.
I'm not saying remove AV from the picture, just don't rely on it, it will let you down spectacularly. Everyone needs to adjust to overcome the phishing, trojans and social engineering the virus writers are moving towards.
Those 2 Czechoslovakian guys(iirc) who are behind the WinAntivirus, used many different methods, including infected Flash Ads, Trojan emails purporting to be from your Airline or Courier company 'here are details of your package in zip format', same but emails with links to infection sites, etc etc.
FMJ sucks.
The Corporate AV solution we use saw an infection, quarantined a file, but left the real problem installed and reported that nothing was amiss.
Luckily, she was smart enough to contact me immediately and I got rid of it with Malwarebytes right away.
Also, we have rules in our web filtering appliance to stop most of these, but occaisionally get hit when a new variant is released until we can identify it and get a new ruleset written to block the new variant.
It's a constant battle, especially working with educators that are generally not very computer literate (especially those that think they are).

Quote:That's why you get a Restore DVD or a Restore partition on your new computer. If the manufacturer is too lazy or cheap to provide one or the other, if not both, it's time to look for a different manufacturer. Thanks for all of the advice, folks. Knowing the issue with the driver numbers and having a quick explanation of how to unstall the old drivers while making sure that my screen still works takes a lot of anxiety out of doing this. The last thing I wanted to do was screw up a 2-day-old computer.

Quote:The driver version is actually the last 5 numbers of the long string of numbers you see. So, your drivers are version 186.35 which is a driver that had known issues. So this worked for your 285 card? I only ask because my drivers are version 8.15.11.8635, which seems like quite a different number than version 185.85. I'm honestly nervous about changing drivers to something with such a different number because I worry about the screen going black if I screw something up.
Uninstall the video drivers, boot into safe mode, run Driver Sweeper to remove ALL video drivers, boot into normal windows and install the 185.85 drivers. Just make sure that you get the correct ones for your OS. Since I didn't see it listed as to whether you have the 32-bit version of Vista or the 64-bit version, you'll have to look for the right version of drivers for your version of the OS. -
Quote:Nice to see that they will be fixed tomorrow (8/11/09). That must be why we have no patch notes on them. It's nice to be able to move some of the long time (and newer) bugs from the problematic list to the fixed list. Many of these fixes are stealth... no patch notes to indicate that they're fixed. Check it out:

Quote:Everything? Doesn't look like it. I don't see anywhere in your post where you've filed a support ticket with NCSoft about it.lol, everything. Called ISP, they said not from them, not their problem. Plugged my computer directly into the cable outlet, still with lag. Changed channels on wifi, still with lag. Looked around forums, apparently a lot of people having same problem on some servers, seems to be the east coast servers, for about a month now. Very frustrating
If you don't let them know there is a problem they can't do anything about it.
We as players certainly can't do anything to help you if it is indeed a server problem, which I believe may have been part of Zloth's point by asking what you are doing about it. -
Quote:I'd recommend calling their Customer Service on Monday as a live person should be able to assist you with this where an automated form system cannot. The number is not a Toll Free number unfortunately, and the hours are Monday through Friday from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM Central time. The number for Customer Service is 512-498-4000 according to the NCSoft website, but the number listed at the Support site is 512-225-6359. I think when I called before that I used the number on the Support site, but it's been long enough ago (well over a year) that I can't recall for certain. I do know that both of those numbers are for the NCSoft offices in Austin, TX and the folks I spoke to when I had my problems were very patient and thorough in tracking down the cause of the problem and getting it resolved. As I mentioned, I do not have an unsubscribe link, and I have to cancel the account AND purchase time in order to add the credit card. The 'add a credit card' link only appears, for some unfathomable reason, near as I can tell, if you already have a credit card on the file.
I do not have a recurring paypal subscription, and I am paid up for well over a year once my award for winning their contest earlier this summer is applied, so waiting that long for it to run out is silly, as is buying more time when I have that much banked up already.
This is what their support section says:
To cancel the subscription for a single game account and leave your credit card information on file, use the following instructions:
1. Log into NCsoft Account Management.
2. Click the Game Accounts link on your NCsoft Account Management page.
3. Select the game account you wish to cancel from your list of game accounts.
4. In the Actions section, click the Cancel Subscription button.
5. Review the warning message text and click the OK button if you agree.
6. You may be prompted to complete a brief deactivation survey. You can fill it out if you want to.
I cannot finish step 4, because there is literally no Cancel Subscription option in the Actions section for my CoH account. -

Quote:This in spades and with sparklies (oooh, sparklies). I'll only add that the search user feature is also pretty useless (at least in my so far limited experience), since the resulting links do not lead to the post but only to the thread.
Overall, I must say the new forum are really disappointing.
I only use the Advanced Search, and I set it to show Posts instead of Threads. I get two links in each area, and the second link is to the post itself. The first post of course goes to the thread.
You can see it here. -
Quote:Thanks, I was at work when I posted my previous comment and didn't have time to search. I walked out the door of the office to go work on another computer within 1 minute of posting that.Announcement from the end of June.

After picking the Forums I wanted, I changed my bookmark to the CP instead. I can even get to my social group very easily from that point. lol
So you mean I didn't need to write this up and post it in the Guides section?
Dang.

They are posting. There is a thread in the Technical Issues and Bugs forum by Zombie_Man with "some" of the more active Devs/Community Reps linked in a workaround.
I'm not sure if SaberCat (writer of the original Dev Tracker that the Dev Digests are based off of) is still around as a player. Hopefully one of the new employees they've added since NCSoft bought the whole shebang will be able to figure out how to write us a new Dev Tracker and be able to translate it to a Digest.
