Never Fear. TweakCoH is here. This will allow you to set your graphics settings BEFORE you launch CoH.

Turn off Bloom, Water Effects to Low or Off (being an older card, I'd recommend Off), turn off Vertical Sync, turn off Desaturation Effects, turn off the ingame settings for Anisotropic Filtering. Lower your Particle Detail to 25050.

Your sound driver installation is out of whack, indicated by the funky date.

Is that the full HiJackThis log? Much of it seems to be missing.
  2. Careful there Flea, they ARE here to squash bugs after all.

    Even Lady Bugs.

  3. What version of Firefox are you using? What Add-On's do you have installed?

I've not had a bit of trouble with these forums since installing Stylish and Greasemonkey so that I can use Zombie Man's Hero Skin, the CoH Sticky Fix script and the CoH Forum Signature Tamer Script.

Now, this may seem snarky, but it really isn't. Those that know me know that I can do snarky very easily and very well. When I run into a problem webpage or link that doesn't open right in Firefox, I use an Add-On called IE View to allow me to right-click and open it in IE. Much faster than copying and pasting the address IMHO. But then again, I haven't run into any problems on these boards since getting the setup mentioned above.
  4. How long is something in Closed Beta?

Until it's put into Open Beta.
  5. Just to be clear, are you using the Legacy 10.2 drivers from this page?
  6. Lots of graphics stuff gets loaded when base editing.

    Good Sign

You do realize that even if they find a bug that it may not make it into a new build immediately?

Sometimes it takes a bit of time to figure out what causes the bug and sometimes longer to figure out how to fix it without breaking other things.

Sure, I've seen times when they identify a bug one day and the very next day there is a new patch that fixes it, but generally it's a hotfix for one specific item or may include a few other items that they had ready for a new patch and the hotfix was the impetus to put out that patch NOW.
  8. Bacon days.

    Mmmmmm.

    We need more of these.
  9. I'm seeing the same login screen as usual. I'm not running any script blockers, so I'm not seeing anything there.

Doing a Google search for wlxrs.com I find a link on whois.domaintools.com that tells me that it is registered to Microsoft. Another site says:

    Quote:

wlxrs.com is a domain controlled by five nameservers at msft.net. All of them are on different IP networks. msn.com, iis.net, live.com, msft.net, msn.co.kr and at least 24 other hosts share nameservers with this domain. js.wlxrs.com, css.wlxrs.com, msc.wlxrs.com, img.wlxrs.com, img2.wlxrs.com and at least one other host are subdomains to this hostname. wlxrs.com is ranked #72008 world wideReputation is not yet known. It is not listed in any blacklists. It has two inlinks.
So, if they've started using scripts, they aren't outside scripts.

Recently I HAVE been seeing the Beta of the new MSN page pop up on various computers.

What address are you using to access hotmail? Is it the www.hotmail.com address or something different?
  10. Before entering your SG base, try using the /unloadgfx command.

It may also be a good idea to Defragment your hard drive.

This may or may not help, but it's all I have besides suggesting you buy more ram.
  11. Liz,

I was hoping this wasn't coming. You've been a good friend and a great Community Rep. I wish you well in your ventures going forward, but you KNOW that you'll be missed.

Guess I'm all out of Community now.

  12. My recommendation would be to PM JLove about this and point him to this thread to see the image.

If he doesn't know it's broken, he can't fix it.

TJ, it was, I swear. There was a forum post I had in mind, linked to a News Article from the past year. But alas, it has been deleted. (Winged Marketing Minions in Money Vests, I'm guessing.) Absence of proof = you win.
Odd that you recall a forum post and I don't. I live in the Dev Digest and Community Digest threads. I follow every link to every post. If it's got an article linked, I read it. I recall nothing along these lines.

I certainly don't recall hearing any of the Devs or Community team member say this at HeroCon, or read about it in any reports from forums I couldn't attend due to being in a different forum at the time.

I do know that in my direct talks with some of the Devs that they said they were looking to have UM out in an issue before or with GR. I'm thinking it was The Dark Watcher and GhostFalcon, but it's been many months since then and my memory isn't what it was, so I won't swear to that.

Hopefully one of them will do a vanity search and come in and correct me if I'm wrong or verify if I'm right. I'm not holding my breath though.

  14. I'd heard a rumor that it was changed, but considered it just a rumor since it talked about zone arias. I don't think the Dev Team is that much into operatic music, but I could be wrong. I was afraid it was just in Boomtown since they mentioned the concussion. I just assumed they were referring to the stuff near neighborhood changes like going from The Fuse to Powderkeg or Primer, or from from Powderkeg to Cannonade or Grenadier Village.

Who knows, maybe it has been changed.
  15. No, they AREN'T violating their own conditions if DS is currently beta testing. Never have they said that those that qualify for GR Beta would get into GR Beta on day one, during wave 1, or anything other than that we would qualify for GR Beta.

If they let us in on the last day of the Closed Beta when DS is being tested, and if they consider the DS testing to be part and parcel of GR Closed Beta, they'll have kept their word.

Let me know how it goes. I'm eager to find out if this is a working fix.
  17. In all honesty, I'd recommend re-posting this in the Mac Users section of the forums. You are more likely to get help there, and the other Mac users are more likely to see it if they have problems.

You may also want to send a PM to CuppaManga asking them to look at this post. That's the most knowledgeable Mac tech person I know on the forums.
  18. Since it's a laptop, and knowing how bad laptop manufacturer's are about not updating drivers, you'll likely have to use the Mobility Modder program to get any drivers from the ATI site to install. It looks like the Legacy Drivers are the only ones that are supported with your video card. Version 9.3 is the latest iteration of the Legacy Drivers.

You can try the OmegaDrivers as well. I've not updated mine on my laptop in quite some time, but they sure did the job for me. That laptop is now a bit over 8 years old, so I don't even try to play CoH on it anymore.
  19. This is an error message that has popped up on very rare occasions since the launch of the game, subsiding and not appearing for quite a while (or not being reported at least), it's just that we've seen it more frequently of late.

The actual message asks the user to post it on the Beta forums. It's not referring to the DP Beta forum section, but the actual CoH Beta forums from before the game launched.

Good luck tracking that one down.
  20. After briefly scanning their forums, I found this thread with a possible solution at the bottom. Since the description of the problem seems similar to yours it shouldn't hurt. Since I still don't know what card you have, I can't tell how applicable it may be.

Not sure if I'll be able to copy/paste the entire last post, but I'll try.

    KB961894 – VC++ Post 2005 SP1 Redistributable

ENU (vcredist_x64.exe) English Language version 64bit Windows.

Install the one that is right for your system be it 32bit windows or 64bit windows.

    also install

.Net 3.5 SP1 redistributable - latest version also updates all previous .Net's.

    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...dotnetfx35.exe

This is needed for CCC to run.

Restart the system and then try reinstalling the drivers, should work hopefully.
  21. Not sure what to suggest at this point. Unless someone else comes in with something it may be that you need to post this on the ATI forums. I'm not sure if it should go under the Radeon section or the Catalyst section. I'll leave that for you to decide.

Best of luck and sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  22. I've seen Anti-virus and other protection measures foul up more than just driver installs. What's really bad is when everything looks like it is running ok and then you use a different feature of the software a month or so later and find that everything is really hosed. Including all of your data files.
  23. I'm seeing pieces of ATI software in the running processes and in the O4 sections.

If it were me, I'd uninstall any ATI display drivers, CCC, and software entries from Add/Remove Programs. I'd reboot into Safe Mode to run DriverCleaner and let it remove the extraneous ATI files. Reboot into normal mode cancelling new hardware wizards, then shut down Spybot, ZoneAlarm and Avast, as well as any other stuff running in the background, THEN install the ATI drivers.

Since you don't list the video card you have, I can't really check anything on that. I'm assuming you aren't doing this on a laptop either.
