Way to go TrueDarkLord, we had this at 666 replies and you had to come along and mess up the numbers.
Sheesh, what do they teach you kids in school nowadays?
-
SilentSpy, you might try sending a PM to CuppaManga about this.
That's the only resident Mac expert I know of. Well, ok, macskull is too so you might try him as well. -
Right, go to Open Beta on a Friday, that also happens to be a US holiday, and then go home for the weekend and come back to huge outcries of problems relating in no way to the Beta itself and they have to sift through all the chaff to find the wheat.
Yeah, that would be really smart.

Not if they used the default path.
And if they didn't use the default path, they'd be rather silly to use something as complicated as the one you listed. People have trouble finding folders on the C drive, you expect them to dig through several layers of folders?
Puh-leeze.

Also, it isn't just Avatea, theOcho and EMpulse (the current OCR team) moderating the forums. There are several non-rednamed Moderators on the forums, and they may simply see a violation (or have it reported) and take action with no notice or comment.
I "think" they have to fill out some type of report on their moderation so that if something is brought up to the OCR team in a complaint they will know what action was taken, who took that action, and why.
And questioning moderator actions is actually against the forum rules. You should PM one of the ones I named earlier to ask why it was removed. If the only offense was posting it in the wrong section, they should be able to rez it and move it to the CB forums.
Of course, it being the weekend they likely won't see or respond to the PM until Monday. -
It's not a virus, it's a falso positive.
I'm not familiar with all the workings of NOD32, but it should have an exception list. You should set the cohupdater.exe (at the very least) in the exceptions, both for your Test install and the Live install. I have the entire directory for both installs set in the exceptions for my A/V program and run a separate scan on them from time to time having it ignore the cohupdater.exe file.
If you set the exceptions now, you won't have this problem in the future. And, your A/V may detect it as a virus during a scan and delete it anyway.
Also, you should contact the manufacturer of the A/V program and let them know about the false positive and insist that they fix their product. You do pay for it after all. -
Wouldn't it make a bit more sense for the English version of this post to list her location as follows?
Richmond, Virginia

Congratulations to all that entered the contest, and a special congratulations to the winners. -
Quote:It's fairly easy to understand why the rumors are confilicting, once you know the full story. There are conflicting rumors as to whether the speedo is an in-game item or a real "city of sidekicks" swag for this year's HeroCon.
I've been told by a reliable informed source inside Paragon Studios that those who pre-order will get the in-game speedo costume part. Unfortunately, males who attend HeroCon will have the actual speedo in the swag bag and are required to wear them during the Costume Contest. Judges will be War Witch, Avatea, EMPulse, and JLove.
They are still debating whether to provide barf bags or blindfolds in female attendees swag bags. -
If you are able to log into the Test server, you are apparently in the Closed Beta.
You should ask there instead since you really aren't supposed to talk about Closed Beta outside of those forums. -
The really unfortunate thing is that some BIOS versions simply won't work with a USB keyboard, and will cause it to hang during the boot process.
-
I love this keyboard model. We've started using Dell's in the School District I work in and these are the keyboards that come with our computers. Basically just a standard USB keyboard with no frills.
I love the design with all the extra plastic outside of the keys cut off.
As far as the BIOS, it varies depending on computer manufacturer and BIOS manufacturer. Usually you press F1, F2, F10, Delete, or another key as the computer is booting. You "should" see a message about what key to press to get into Setup when you start the computer.
Once you are in, it again will vary as to what setting needs to be changed to allow your BIOS to recognize the USB keyboard. It may even need a BIOS update to enable you to change that setting if it's even available then.
Of course, if you don't know what you are doing specifically, I wouldn't go changing any settings in the BIOS and especially not flashing the BIOS with a newer version. You can really mess things up in there and messing up a flash gets really bad.
Get a professional to look at it. Most should only charge a very minimal fee to look through the BIOS to see if they can get the keyboard to be recognized or to flash the BIOS.
And by "get a professional to look at it" I don't mean taking it to Best Buy, CompUSA or similar. -
Post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Then, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH. -
It's worked this way as long as I can remember, possibly back into CoH Beta.
I was extremely proud for the longest time that I'd not failed any missions on my main and then I got a timed mission, slogged through it finding all of the objectives and defeating everything with only one room left and one objective left and lost power for two hours. Logged in to the Mission Failed message. I was extremely upset.
I'd had similar experiences before this of losing power briefly and logging in to find the mission completely reset.
I've purposely exited to the desktop and relaunced the game due to stupid hostage/ally AI running full bore into a room full of enemies concentrating on one enemy on the far side of the map so that the hostage didn't die.
I think the problem comes when trying to get it to fully reset and re-organize the mission due to team size changes, relocating spawn points, the spawn levels, and/or mission difficulty settings.
If you are on a team and disconnect, as long as the teammates are on the map it doesn't reset and you log back into the mission with it already in progress. -
Which Dell keyboard is it? There are several models with various extra functions.
What type of connector does it use, USB or PS/2?
If it is a USB keyboard your BIOS may not detect it correctly causing it to hang during the boot process. -

Been using Windows 7 with CoH since Windows 7 was in Beta. No problems here. Just don't set it to use Compatibility Mode, that usually causes problems. Set it to run as Administrator and you are good to go.

South Texas Knights was formed during the 3 day head start.
But I'm sure you aren't talking about solo Super Groups. -

Reply hazy, try again

Well, that wasn't much help was it?
First, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.
Then, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH. -
Not to burst your bubble, but this belongs in the Suggestions forum and not in the Technical Issues and Bugs section.
Since this isn't a forum for official technical support there's nothing to be gained by posting it here. -
You get to wait it out. What you downloaded will do the installation for you, it just takes forever and a day to get it all.
If it were me I'd find someone with a large enough flash drive to copy the installation cd or dvd onto (whichever you have) and install it from there. If you have another computer around that is connected to the same network your netbook is, put the CD/DVD in the drive and share the drive out then install it over the network. If you do this I'd recommend making sure both computers are connected to the network with ethernet cables. -
Quote:I didn't say it was performance intensive, I said it will stress a system, especially the graphics. It has more to do with the Cryptic engine's coding than anything else from what I can tell, but it is still a good stress test for a computer.Yep I asked this too.
You must not play very many newer games. CoH is one of the least performance intensive games I play.
Also, TF2, Borderlands and AGP all seem to be DirectX games. City of Heroes is OpenGL. It's like comparing apples to oranges. -
What video card do you have?
As far as "it doesn't do it with other games", that's not really a valid argument. CoH stresses a system, and especially the graphics card, far more than any other game I've seen. I've used it to stress test a system. I've seen reports of others using CoH as their test for how well a computer runs.
It sounds like a probelm with the video card, but without being able to swap it out into another computer or swap in another video card I can't tell for certain. -
It sounds like a problem with the video card, and seeing that you are using an 8800 that isn't too big of a surprise.
The error message you get trying to run CoH Helper concerns me. Do you have the .Net Framework 2.0 installed?
Here is the 32-bit version of .Net Framework 2.0 -
Try running HiJackThis and post the log from running it. Perhaps we can see something that may be causing your problems.
Make sure your Anti-Virus definitions are up to date and run a full scan.
