Crashing on updater "checksumming"

I just took my new laptop with windows 7 out of the box, and when I try to run the cohupdater it consistently freezes up on "checksumming", resulting in a reboot or a blue screen and THEN a reboot every time.

I'm not REALLY sure what's wrong, the laptop doesn't have any problems running other things (though I haven't tried to run other games yet). I went into the folder and deleted the .checksum files as I saw that was frequent advice to problems similar to mine, but it hasn't done anything.

It usually gets stuck at about 15-11 seconds left, once or twice it got down to 2. I really don't know what any of this means, so I figured you guys might be able to help me out. I still haven't pinpointed what's wrong with Google.

Well, that wasn't much help was it?

First, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.

Then, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
